You'll Glen ShotSaving Tips From This
My favorite golfer here shares some of his game thoughts.

Being one of the best at tempo and scrambling, you'll find some great advice here.

I especially have put his idea of swinging down the line on pitch shots where the ball is snug down in the longstuff.

Readers Will Glean Shot Saving Tips
My favorite golfer here reveals some of his thinking about the game.

Renowned for his tempo, short game and scrambling ability, you'll take away much in these areas.

From reading this, I too now play gloveless. It saves money, I feel the clubhead much better and have much better grip pressure from making this change.

Another tip that has saved many shots in my rounds, is that when the ball is down snug in the grass, play pitch shots down the line.

Freddie has many like these in here you'll find so useful as well. Good stuff!

A great golf reference for learning to play "trouble" shots.
Since I purchased Total Shotmaking the book has been my constant source of reference and review whenever my game drops a notch. The best part of this book, for me, is the section titled "Couples' Clinic." This section includes 60 excellent tips on shot making. Its almost as if Fred Couples becomes your personal instructor to help you correct bad shots or develop new shots to enhance your game.

Total Shotmaking has helped me lower my handicap because it has expanded my bag of shots to help me recover from difficult spots.

Excellent!
I love this complilation of Ghost Stories/Unexplained from around Kentucky. It really makes me want to get out and explore the areas around me now. It broke my heart to hear that Mr. Henson passed away in 96 (found out in "More Kentucky Ghosts"...another excellent read). When reading his first book I kept thinking that he lived in Kentucky with me and that I'd like to meet him someday. Now I see that won't be happening.......well maybe......you never know!

The best ghost story book I've read.
This book is excellent. Michael Paul Henson is an excellent writer and investigator of the supernatural. The stories are very interesting but they have also been thoroughly investigated by the author. I couldn't put it down

GREAT BOOK, GREAT STORIES
THE AUTHOR HAS RESEARCHED THESE TALES OUT PERSONALLY, I MYSELF AM A GHOST HUNTER AND THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO VALIDATE A "GHOST STORY", OTHERWISE THERE IS NO WAY TO BACK UP THE ORIGINAL TELLERS STORY. VERY WELL RESEARCHED. ONCE YOU PICK IT UP IT'S HARD TO PUT DOWN. I ACTUALLY READ THIS IN RECORD TIME, AND PASSED IT ON TO A FELLOW GHOST HUNTER WHO FEELS THE SAME WAY I DO ABOUT IT. FABULOUS.

Traps a Novel of the FBI: A Novel of the FBI

Author: Paul Lindsay

Really Liked
This is definitely one of Mr Lindsay's best FBI novels to date. Jack Kincaid, our tragic hero, is someone I felt sorry for, yet admired at the same time, flaws and all. Loved his detecting skills. The story was riveting and came to a thrilling climax. I'd pretty much figured out the ending, so was kind of reluctant to finish because I didn't want to be right. Overall, a very enjoyable FBI procedural, with a likable tragic hero. Looking forward to what comes next from Mr Lindsay.

You'll get caught in the author's trap...
As the title implies, traps of various kinds pepper the plot, including "bank traps," which underachieving FBI agent Jack Kincade uses to rip off bank night deposit drops. The money doesn't go towards supporting an affluent lifestyle; this down-and-out divorcee is living in a dive motel, drinking cheap vodka, and driving a battered minivan. But poker money has to come from somewhere.

Jack, who's found all the ways to dodge work a bureaucracy can offer, must investigate a massive bomb threat. A desperate man planted the bomb hoping to force the FBI to finally solve his daughter's murder. Jack partners with Ben Alton to follow some leads.

The two couldn't be more different. Ben, a family man, is a go-getter who worked his way up from the projects. He sets his mind to something and doesn't give up. But he's not working at 100% because he recently lost the lower half of his leg to cancer, and though he's back a month early to help with the investigation, the boss assigns him to desk duty for his own safety.

Of all the available agents, these two seem the least likely to succeed, but Jack's sharp powers of deduction and Ben's unstoppable energy work together well, and with some luck, the old crime is solved. But questions still remain, and the pair dig deeper to find another more-horrifying layer of murderous revenge. They must stay one step ahead of the villain and his traps; Jack's got to stay ahead of the FBI's internal police.

This audiobook had me hooked from start to finish. The pace never slows, nor does it move too fast that you can't understand what's happening. I'm no expert on the FBI, but the author certainly made me feel I was inside the organization, with its politics and personalities. Some events stretched the limits of disbelief, but I don't think they went too far.

As for the performance by the reader, it was mostly OK, but I have a few compaints. The voice of Jack was very gruff. At first I didn't think I'd want to sit through a whole book with that voice. I got used to it, but I never really liked it. He also mispronounced "interment" as "internment." My biggest gripe however is how his voice dropped off at the end of sentences. Since I listen while driving, hearing those words was quite a problem.

And sure, the "odd couple" pairing of Ben and Jack has been done to death, but this author pulled it off. They fire off some funny lines and it never became tiresome. The writing style is clear, never overwrought. This book isn't the same old thing. It's actually darn good.

fascinating crime thriller
It has been three years since his daughter has been kidnapped and the FBI still has not the slightest idea what happened to Leah Ziven. Her father Conrad builds a bomb and plants it under the Cook County jail, which houses over 15,000 prisoners. Only he has the combination to disarm the bomb and he won't give it out until they find his daughter.

FBI agent Jack Kincade, a man who robs banks as a sideline is partnered with Ben Alton, an amputee victim with something to prove. The hastily formed team finds the girl's body and the ransom at an abandoned shack. Leah's father gives them the data they need to remove the bomb but that doesn't end the case because the killer is still out there. Ben and Jack (not Jerry, silly) are on his case, trying to break him, a very dangerous thing to do to a psychopath with nothing left to lose.

TRAPS is a fascinating crime thriller due to the enigmatic anti-hero Jack Kincade. He's a drunk and a gambler who cut off all communication with his son. He robs banks to support his gambling habit yet in spite of all these failing, readers feel drawn to this bad boy because they sense there is a kernel of decency and goodness buried in his heart, waiting to bloom under the right conditions. Paul Lindsay will appeal to readers who like the novels of Patricia Cornwell and Robert W. Walker.

funny book
This book was hilarious, combining sharp-witted humorous comments with actual facts on the sad Christian proselytizing of those who came before them.

Inspiring yet informational for the mind and soul.
I enjoyed the book, yet to see the outcome of how one person might be able to do all of these sins and still enter the gates of heaven.

a great guide to a hot destination
I've always loved Facaros and Pauls' travel guides to Europe, and now they've given hell the same treatment. Funny, tongue in cheek, yet full of fiendishly good scholarship to boot, it's a great someone who has everything. I loved the bits about Chinese hell and the big chicken that punishes people who are cruel to animals, as well as the updated version of Dante's Inferno by a southern minister whose car fell on his head.

If you want to code Games on the Mac, you need this book.
This is an essential guide to the tricks and finer points of Macintosh game programming. This book has the best examples I've seen in any programming reference. The concepts and programming tips are taught in a manner that help you go beyond what the book contains and develop your own methods as well.

The writing is excellent (you can read this book like a novel, rather than just use it as a reference), and the topics covered are just what a beginning or slightly seasoned programmer are looking for - from sprite blitting routines that blow away what the toolbox has to offer, to multi-channel audio tips, to networking and AI development, and a great chapter on porting from Windows.

I cannot stress highly enough how much help this book is to a MacOS game programmer.

Excellent book for learning game programming on the Mac.
This book is by far the best book I've ever read on Macintosh programming. You should have knowledge of basic C programming on the Mac (buy Dave Mark's Learn C on the Macintosh) and then you can just jump right in.

I have taken two classes on C++ programming (for UNIX) and I had virtually no experience programming for the Mac. This book covers absolutely anything you want to know about making games; from an excellent chapter on networking (written by Stuart Chesire, creator of Bolo) to an even more impressive chapter on PowerPC optimization. It covers basic sprite animation, advanced sprite animation, and it also has a great chapter on audio... this is the MUST GET Mac game programming book.

Above all this, it is an absolute joy to read. It contains interviews with other big names in the mac industry - for instance, Jason Jones of Bungie - and gets their tips and tricks for making killer games.

This is one of those books that you will consult every day in the development of a mac game.

Excellent Mac programming reference
This book gives many insights into practical programming for the Macintosh. Game programmers typically have unique obstacles to overcome. This book describes many programming techniques not described in other books on Macintosh programming.

One of its strengths is that it's written by experts in their field. The chapter on porting games from other platforms, for example, was written by people who have ported many popular games to the Macintosh platform. Thirteen authors are listed in the book, each covering topics they know well.

Modern topics, such as QuickDraw 3D and optimizing code for PowerPC are covered. Enjoyable reading and an excellent reference. CD-ROM included.

How the war in Afghanistan started
Interesting book set in the first year of the Soviets' Afghanistan incursion. Time and again, the hero, Mels, bumps into veterans of the Afghanistan war (complaining about the quality of Uzbek troops) or conscripts on the way to Kandahar. The streets of Moscow and Leningrad are full of soldiers and the second hand shops full of goods brought back by diplomats expelled since the invasion. We find out soon enough that Mels is embroiled in a secret KGB plot (apparently based on a true story) using the cover of the Moscow Olympics. He finds out the details of the Kabul coup that triggered the whole crisis. I found it fascinating--well written and certainly timely.

Thrilling--and educational, too!
The level of detail in this novel astonishes me. I felt like I was in Leningrad in 1980! At times it reads more like an ethnographic study than a standard thriller. And yet the action moves at just the right pace, the characters avoid stereotyping, their dialogue always seems convincing and the plot never seems predictable or stale. It is, apparently, based on a true incident that happened in the twilight years of the communist system. If I have one criticism it is that the book feels a little like a "novelized" screenplay (no doubt with John Malkovitch as the mysterious soft-spoken KGB general and Nicholas Cage as Mels Katz, the hero). Altogether an impressive debut novel.

Big fun!
This is my son's favorite "comfort book". I bought it for him when he was 3 years old, and now, a year later, I'm having to buy another one--the first one has been loved to shreds. The fact that it took a year is evidence of the wonderful durability of the pop-up images! The pop-up images are both BIG and colorful, and the simple rhymes are quickly learned by heart. My son absolutely loves this book, and will "read" it to himself over and over (when he's not demanding that I read it to him!).

A Fun Book!!
My husband and I purchased this book for our nephew this last Christmas. Since he received it he won't stop asking his mom to read it to him.
The pictures in this book are so cool and fun! I may actually buy this for my other nephew for his birthday in March.

great for young boys!
my son spotted this book and wouldnt put it down! i would recommend it for anyone who knows a little boy (or girl) who is into cars and trucks. the pop ups are large, colorful, and fabulous. im going to collect the other books by the same author.

please help
if you can, please help me. if anyone knows if this is the santa clause story about an orphan boy in a small town who grows to become santa. The story I'm thinking of includes a sleigh race. It tells how the holly berry got it's name, why santa is fat, and the reason for stocking.

Paul Prokop is written a great book
It was very enjoyable to read Paul Prokop's book (The True Story of Santa Claus) to my 3 year-old and wife the other night. It was not only entertaining, but very educational as well.

The pictures are great too. They reflect exactly what is going on in the story.

You can tell that Paul has a big heart and is a great father/husband to his children/wife. It shows in his writing.

Great job Paul! Keep writing books like "The True Story of Santa Claus" and we'll keep buying them and reading them to our children/family.

I'd love to meet you and your family some day! God Bless you and your family. From my family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

A Fresh View on Santa Claus
If you wish to merge the magic of Santa Claus with the miracle of Christmas, then look no further. Mr. Prokop has woven a beautiful story that does just this, for young and old alike. "The True Story of Santa Claus" tells the story of a young child on Christmas Eve who is anxiously awaiting Santa's arrival. When he meets Santa himself, he is given an unexpected gift - Santa Claus' own story. Through the medium of this brief story, children can be introduced to the true meaning of Christmas. The words are simple and clear, but not simplistic. The illustrations are crisp and eye-catching. In short, this book puts the "saint" back in Santa and the "Christ" back in Christmas. It can be read by a young reader and is especially ideal to be read outloud by a grown-up with a child sitting close at hand. An excellent read.

Amazing
Paul Soifer strikes again with his gorgeous portrait of the US Government, and preparation for the AP exam. I think I met Paul one time, albeit not for long, and he sold me on the book. I then took the book and have studied with it. I am assuming I will get a 5 on the test. Doc, This buds for you!

Excellent Resource
This book is a great, concise prep for AP US Government. It has a clear well-organized layout and cuts out all the extraneous information so you know exactly what you need to know for the AP Test. I could not recommend it more highly.

Paul Soifer is my history teacher, and he rocks!!
This book is clear and concise and will help you get your 5, and besides, Doc Soifer wrote it, what else do you need to know.

One of the best Windows books I've read
This is the best Windows book I have read. It's no nonsense get down to business approach is refreshing compared to the other books that force you to wade through chapters of reading in order to find an answer to your question. I highly recommend this book to better understand Window 98.

Awesome book!!!!!!!
So good I'm reluctant to recommend this book to my fellow support tech's. I've been coming off like a 98 support genius since picking it up and I don't want the competition on my job. Some really cool stuff here.

WHEN WILL WE SEE NT / 2000?

Fantastic!
I have 2 other books on WIn98SE. Neither one comes close to the depth of content that this book has, and both cost more. I should have bought this one FIRST!
