Delusion Is Good: A Visionary Guide to Extraordinary Outcomes

Read this book!
The book was a rocket ride for me. It was exciting, well-paced and well written. What's even better is that Delusion is Good is a book you can put to use. It's not so abstract that you can't use it. It's practical and assertive, but it doesn't ever force-feed you. Instead, it takes you by the hand. It guides you to some great places in yourself. And once it does, it really starts to shake stuff up for you. The book works. And it teaches us things we can put to use now, not five years from now!

I couldn't put it down
DELUSION IS GOOD is not your run-of-the mill self-help book. It makes us all look at some things that we might not want to confront. And it requires a little bit of honest self-evaluation to go after it's rather outspoken theme. But once I did, once I took a look at the two matrixes that drive us, Love and Fear, and how we respond to them, I found it exceptional. Once I got the message of my true mission in life, I couldn't put it down.

Best Ever!
I thought that this book wouldn't be as good as "Mystery Of Smugglers' Cove. But I was definitely wrong! "The Demon's Den" has some surprising text, teriffic, never-ending action, and the plot was totally freaky. Demons, superhumans, Old Sam, and so on. You just can't miss this one!

Thrilling book, written in an unexpected way
I think that this just about beats Mystery of Smugglers' Cove. Matter of fact, it does. Sometimes in the book there's some scary (but not bad) language. It's surprising how Franklin Dixon got this idea for this sort of writing in the book. It's also a great book on genetic engineering and science. It's amazing about Rhee doing his tricks, and the action is normal, but wonderfully done. So take the time to read this book, and you won't think there's any better Hardy Boys book (and it's true, you'll believe me). Bon Reading it! (Enjoy reading it)!

Desire Unlimited: The Cinema of Pedro Almodovar
Published in Hardcover by Verso Books (28 October, 2000)
Author: Paul Julian Smith
Amazon base price: $60.00
Used price: $22.95

All About Almodovar
Simply the greatest Spanish film director since Luis Bunuel, Pedro Almodovar reigns as one of the best filmmakers in the world. Somewhat a cross between John Waters and Gus Van Sant, Pedro's films have won acclaim throughout the world, especially at major film festivals such as Cannes and Venice.

"Desire Unlimited" by Paul Julian Smith covers all of Almodovar's films from his first major film "Pepi, Luci, Bom, y Otras Chicas del Monton" to his Academy-Award winning film, "Todo Sobre Mi Madre." Summarizing each film in its' own chapter, Smith gives the reader a summary of the plot and commentary on the film's characters, storyline, and locations to further educate readers more about Almodovar's methods. Smith does a great job in discussing each film, especially due to his citations of commentary and critiques from various periodicals throughout the world.

Beautifully designed, this book is not only a treat to Almodovar fans worldwide, but also it is a must have for any serious film student/buff who wants to know the forces of creativity from a non-American director. While American directors are often subjected to edits and story rewrites due to big studio contracts and concerns, Almodovar and his film company, El Deseo, do not have to answer to anyone, giving him total control over his films.

Truly a genius, Almodovar gets the respect he deserves in this book. I highly recommend this book to all who love Almodovar's unique, campy style. It makes great reading any day of the year.

The only book on Almodovar you'll need
There are lots of books on Almodovar and most of them are either very superficial or too darned academic. This one hits the spot very nicely. It's a chatty, engaged and thoroughly researched book, packed with information and challenging analysis. Sometimes it's a bit obscure but mostly it's the book Almodovar's films deserve. Highly recommended.

Photographer's Bible.
When I say "Photographer's Bible" it is not just a catchy title for this review, I believe it is truly "The Book". The sacred book doesn't have pictures, right?, well this one also have none, it treasures the soul and thoughts of some of the most important and famous photographers of the XX century. A good photography book about a famous photographer is easy to find, we all know the images from many of them, but what do they think about life and this hard profession, I just found it on this must-have masterpiece.

The Esoteric and the Intellectual
I recently found the last chapter very helpful in putting mental illness into a spiritual perspective. I come back to it every few years for its depth of wisdom. Ahead of its time, it may one day be seen as one of a few seminal books for the dawn of the New Age spiritual movement. I'd say it's for the serious spiritual seeker.

thought provoking and significant
Of all the books I have read in the misty world of the paranormal, this book reveals the most significant and meaningful insights into the human conciousness. It gives the hows and whys concerning the development of our everyday conciousness.

It shows how a state of conciousness forms and how to change it. The information in this book can enable a person to effectively improve his state of mind. And it does so in a very positive way. Although some of the concepts and language are difficult to grasp, the underlying meaning becomes apparant to the reader in short order.

this is an excellent reference piece to any biologist. It has alot of the key words that any biologist who is in the fields of evolution, ecology, systematics, taxonomy to name a few. I myself am a graduate student and a couple of us have it and has become an invaluable piece to our librairies.

A very nice dictionary for students majoring biology
I bought the dictionary of first edtion twelve years ago. I found its explanation about ecology, evolution, and systematics is very easily reading and useful to students majoring biology. It let me understand many terms, and read the texts and references more easily. I'm very gald to know the new edition was published. I believe that the new edition will give readers more useful and modern words of ecology, evolution, and sytematics.

Masterpiece of Roman History
An must-have for anyone interested in legal history and/or Roman history. Truly a magnificent work. One thing to keep in mind though is that the whole work is published in two volumes and only the first volume is sold here.

Magna Opera Iuris
The Digest of Iustinianus is probably the first masterpiece in the history of Law that untill nowadays is applied in order to interpretate law or even as common law in some places of the globe. The Digest is a recopilation of jurisprudence, mainly from jurists that lived in the so called late classic period of roman law (Ulpianus, Papinianus, Paulus, Modestinus and the classical but provincial Gaius). However comments of other important jurists can be found such as Julianus, Alfenus et. al. showing us, of course with interpolations since it was intended as applicable law after it's composition, all the main context of Roman Law from the post classical period (527). Not withstanding the afforementioned critic, the Digest is regarded nowadays as the most classic book of law, not only romal law, but law as a whole. it is a masterpiece and the result of years of hard work of a commission leaded by Tribonianus. The Digest of Justinian is the number one book to any researcher on law regardless of the subject. Some translations recomended are D'ors et.al (Spanish, Ed. Aranzadi, Pamplona), or the transcription composed by the great Theodor Mommsen (German). Readers: Undergraduate (only researchers), Graduate Students (Doctoral), Researchers in general, Jurists and lawyers, Judges. Great Book
Given the history of this book, it is almost a classic. No course on Welfare policy could not refer to it.

On of the best introductions to social work policy ever.
This is an excellent book. I've used it in undergraduate (and graduate) courses here at the University of Chicago and have been VERY pleased with the result. Colleagues at Berkeley (where Professors Terrell and Gilbert teach) use it as well. It is quite possibly the most complete text on the subject I've ever used
