An excellent book for the preparation for Part 1. The sections on immunology,genetics , are really helpful as candidates are confused as to how to proceed with these topics in context to the MRCP exam. It does not go astray and confuse candidates as a lot of MCQ books do, but i would also like a bit more of emphasis on Basic Sciences. In short it is a very helpful, and informative MCQ book, and a last moment reminder to key questions which aspirants often forget to look up !

An excellent academic reference that is of special interest to English Majors studying Greek Mythology. This guide explores the meaning of Aphrodite and its connection to female sexuality, tenderness, procreation and subjectivity. Friedrich explores how the meaning of Aphrodite arose, how it is constituted and how it is motivated. Throughout, Friedrich gives special attention to Homer, the richest and most authoratative and to Sappho, whose poetry explores the sensous aspects of Aphrodite. Friedrich devotes some chapters, particulary chapter four, to contrasting Aphrodite to the other queens of heaven: Hera, Athena and Artemis and with this weaves aspects of virginity, intimacy, wisdom and worriorship together.

What can be said of a book that is only 53 pages. The first thing I have to say is thank God the publisher didn't charge a huge amount of money. This chap book may be the cheapest item here at Amazon, and it turns out to be well worth the money. Rogalus writes micro-fiction, short stories of one or two pages in length. His characters are funny f-ups, similiar to and as amusing as the characters penned by Denis Johnson. This book is the perfect one to read if you only have five minutes of free time during the day. It does not portray today's urban society and the upwardly mobile, but it does dive into their past to uncover what they were doing in their high school to post college years. I had the opportunity to hear Paul read and he is a humorous, honest man. It's a good risk to shell out the [money] for the smiles this book can put on your face.

I was technical advisor for the production, which was quite an effort of information collection. We attempted to give the most comprehensive, up-to-date, consumer-accessible information on upgrading efficiency of residential heating appliances. Information allows one to "do-it-yourself" in many cases; and, if not, to deal knowledgeably with an installer. Many people think of replacement as the only efficiency upgrade. Utilities favor this as a way to lock customers on to their service while also "promoting efficiency". In fact, measured results of new equipment installation (funded by City of Madison, WI) showed average savings of 12%. Savings most closely track sizing new equipment to actual requirement. This process is touched on in the Manual. It is almost always best to reduce heating load (e.g., insulate, tighten) before replacing equipment. This way you can closely track size of new equipment to actual requirement. The Manual has good options for boosting efficiency at low cost while heating load work gets done! Somehow, we haven't got smarts into the area of home energy yet. The fact that this book sold 5k copies and went out of print is sad testament to a continuing reluctance to use good answers from U.S. research on reasonable cost efficiency measures. I borrowed your book from a student and read it thru twice. I also took notes and worked some of the problems particularily on beam flexure and shear. I also liked how the formulas were derived from calculus. I am employed as a structural and piping draftsman your book is very useful in my work. This anthology represents the first collection of studies of mass media texts of various genres from an ethnomethodological point of view. It pays particular attention to the ways in which sense is made of these cultural products. This is a furious and political book like no other I've read. It is an excellent and interesting read. I am a political science professor and I highly reccomend this book because of it's importance in dealing with the political and social relations that are shaping the now.

As a PADI SCUBA instructor, I recommend this book to my students. The writing is at the level that non-physicans can readly understand the problems and treatment.The style includes excellent photos of underwater life so that recognition of problems critters may be identified before contact, or recognized for diagnosis should problems arise. A big cheer to Dr. Aluerback for his knowledge of the field, the arrangement of the book and the usefulfnenss of the water proof pages.

In this superbly illustrated text Unschuld continues his exploration of Chinese traditional medicine through an examination of the art, craft, and commercial artifacts of its history in China. Beginning with an historical overview, Unschuld examines the literature of medicine and pharmacy, taking the Mawangdui text as the starting point. In successive chapters he examines drug use and pharmacology, including mass-produced products and how they were marketed, pharmacies, their containers, and equipment. This is followed by an revealing examination of physicians, including the itinerant physicians about whom little has been published in Western writings, medical scholars, and official physicians. The chapter, "Medicine, Healing, and Popular Religion" examines the evolution of Tang physician Sun Simiao from healer to medical god.

The final chapter discusses Chinese medicine in art and literature beginning with an overview of the distinctions between East and West in the medical subjects chosen, or ignored for artistic portrayal, the concentration on portraits of famous Chinese physicians in painting and the relationship of medical subjects in art to Chinese beliefs and customs. The text concludes with 178 plates, many in color, that include acupuncture charts and equipment, pharmaceutical preparation equipment and formula packaging, paintings of medical subjects and physicians, and statuary.

O'Neill, Dornan and Denning does a fine job of outlining very detailed aspects of diseases and medical procedures that you can undertake to give a full and effective assessment of a patient or even yourself. At the end of each chapter, there are also clinical case studies that allows you to test yourself on what you have retained and understand from the reading. Overall, this is a good investment, whether if it is for the knowledge or just for fun. But, be aware this text is only understandable to those that have some knowledge in medicine.
