if there was any good pictures from the book that i could have down loaded it would get 5 stars

Good But not the best
the Book was good but i do wish they showed the picuter of the second ball whith cinderella in her gown

school project
Cinderella lived with her two step-sisters. They gave her the nickname Cinderseat. They were really mean to her and made her do things for them. The king's son was to give a ball and everyone was invited. When the day came Cinderella began to cry and her godmother appeared and made her get a pumpkin, which she turned into a coach. She then turned mice into horses, and a rat into a coachman. Then dressed her in a beautiful dress and glass slippers. When she arrived she danced with the prince, but she had to leave before midnight. She left without telling anyone her name or anything. The next night they went to another ball and she left right before midnight in rags, and left one glass slipper behind. He checked around trying the slipper on everyone. When Cinderella tried it on it fit her perfectly, and the prince realized she was the mysterious girl he had danced with before and they were to be married. I think this is a good story for kids to read, because Cinderella was really nice to her step-sisters who were always so mean to her after everything.

Overrated
I only give this two stars for the illustrations and suspect that the main reason this book is bought is because of the Caldecott Honor. While I look for books that have strong female characters, I cannot recommend this story. There are many violent images -- a man caught in a bear trap, a multi-day wrestling match with a bear -- which, IMHO, are too much for young children. We shouldn't be teaching our girls or our boys that to be a giant and wrestle bears is how girls get to be the equal of boys.

Tall, tall story! Great fun!
Excellent book for a young reader. Very much in the tradition of Paul-Bunyan-style tall tales. The hero this time is a heroine, nicknamed Swamp Angel, with the strength to rid early-days Tennessee of a giant bear called Thundering Tarnation. Like the best tall tales, this one is full of wonderfully humorous exaggerations, all wonderfully illustrated on every page. Delightful and entertaining book for both boys and girls.

A modern classic of epic proportions
What fun to have a tall tale that features a woman--and such a capable woman at that! Anne Isaacs has written a yarn that seems somehow to have been in the pantheon all along--much like Howard Pyles' "Pepper and Salt" stories, "Swamp Angel" is new as far as children's stories go, but has all the elements of the classic stories and so seems older and as wonderfully distinctive as the tales that have been around for generations.

Isaacs tells us all about one red-headed, freckled young woman named Angelica Longrider. From the first, we know we are in for a wild ride when we see the picture of her rather startled-looking parents holding an enormous but contented baby--the text tells us calmly that Angelica was "scarcely taller than her mother and couldn't climb a tree without help." Things start moving at a pell-mell pace when we find out that a destructive black bear has so annoyed folks all around the Appalachian mountains of Tennessee that a reward has been offered for his hide. Angelica sets up to whup that bear and means to do the job right.

The fight between Angelica and the bear is a wondrous portion of the story, told with great good humor, a number of winks at the reader, and the astonishing illustrations of Paul O. Zelinsky. "Swamp Angel" may well be Zelinsky's masterpiece. The pictures have the flavor of early American folk art, combined to great effect with Zelinsky's usual eye for telling detail and gorgeous use of color. They fit the style of the story so well and complement the action so sufficiently that it's as though Isaacs and Zelinsky are two halves of the same person. Rarely do the visions of both author and illustrator dovetail as cleanly as they do here, and it's our great good luck as readers that Isaacs and Zelinsky found each other. Three cheers for "Swamp Angel!"

Crazy Undertaker or Mischievous Adoescents
As soon as Mr. Hulka moved in the apartment next door Bobby had a feeling about him. He watched and one days sees Mr. Hulka kill his wife. Convinced he was a murderer, he tells his friend Lauri and calls the police. But nobody believes him. Lauri is convinced that it is totally coincidental, but Bobby thinks otherwise. Lauri goes along with it only because she think it's another on of his schemes to get her out of her fears of death. But then things take a turn for the worst and they find themselves in trouble, more than they bargained for, and they need help fast. I like this book because its keeps you reading all the way through. I think the plot is great, the characters are down-to-earth and real life, and the dialogue is excellent. It may be a little slow reading sometimes and may get tiring, but it is realistic and an over all good book. Are Bobby and Lauri going to make it? Is Mr. Hulka really a murderer? We'll see soon enough!

THE UNDERTAKERS GONE BANNANAS
THIS WAS A TRULEY INTRESTING BOOK WITH A LOT OF SURPRISES AND A VERY UNSUSPECTING AND TRULEY INSPERATIONAL ENDING

A Wonderful Book For Mystery Lovers
This book is about two children that see Mr. Hulka, their new neighbor kill someone in the next room. Since these children are often making up stories and getting into trouble, no one will believe them. It is up to them to prove to everyone that their neighbor is a murderer.

I would definitely recommend this book. There was always something going on. The adventure never stopped. If you are into mysteries of any kind, I would definitely recommend this great book, because it always had me on the end of my seat, and turning the pages.

It's only good for beginner of c shell programming
It's only good for beginner of c shell programmin

Be literate, Know your c shell (csh)
I used this book to learn more than just the fundamentals of C shell programming. Some time it is more efficient to switch to or supplement with the C shell and save many borne shell steps to accomplish the same process. The C shell environment is robust. What the C shell is not is intuitive. Therefore, you need this book for any serious scripting. This is also the basis of tcsh

Excellent C Shell Book
This book has a nice layout. The first ten pages include a reference for several unix commands which are the foundation for solid scripts. The rest of the book has nice examples that are well written. You create basic scripts that are enhanced as you learn more material. You need to change the first line to !#/bin/csh to run the scripts. I wish the author's would create a newer edition of this book.

fascinating
I do not usually read books of this sort (I like fiction, philosophy, cosmology), but the reviews of this book caught my eye. It is written extremely well. Unconventional ideas presented very intelligently and backed up with compelling scientific and anecdotal evidence. Highly recommended to those with an open mind.

Thought Provoking
Dr. Melvin Morse gives us one of the best books that I have ever read. Thought provoking and detailed. How do humans connect to God? Is it through the brain? What of near death experiences and how are they similar? Is there proof of past lives? Do they connect? What is our link to the universe, or our position? Many topics are explored in this book in detail.

This book has to rate as one of the best on the subject of Paranormal Science. A must read for anyone who has an interest in the subject, or to someone who may be curious as to what this subject is all about. But this book, open your mind.

Strongly Recommend!
I found "Where God Lives" to be one of the best examinations of the NDE. Dr. Morse's section on children was compelling, but even more interesting was the section on past life remembrances. As Dr. Morse is a professional and researcher, the book is filled with case studies, scientific analysis and much insight. Although the premise of memory being stored in a place besides the brain may sound a little wacky and "occultish", the book is clearly not that at all. Definitely check this one out for an entertaining read.

The Forest of Perception
Paul Watkins has displayed a masterpiece of mystery, politics and suspense in his book Arch Angel. Set in the last remnants of the old Algonquin, Watkins takes us deep into the roots of those who populate Abenaki Junction. He tells the story from different perceptions, which allows us to see how diverse ideals lead to very different lives, and how radical actions can be when one is under great pressure. He pushes the bravery threshold of many of his characters, some of which are defending them from death at the time. Watkins is not afraid to attack the topic of clear cutting, which is under great controversy in many parts of the world. If you do not mind gore as well as passion, then read through this heart-racing book, which will keep you turning pages late into the night. Since the topics and ideals can be reached on many levels, this book is targeted at teens and adults. Watkins words will help you see light through a great canopy of trees. A must read for an open-minded person!

Amidst a forest of stories, one shines through the branches
Full of action and drama from page one through to page 287, Paul Watkins has created a novel that is perhaps the most reader friendly novel out there. A fantastic tale of mystery, violence and love set in front of a background as perplexing and intriguing as the story itself. A true must buy that is a steal at Amazon.com's low price ...

Action, suspense, character development and more
Eco-terrorism never seemed like an honest moral choice-until now (although in fairness, the young radical hero's actions are more monkey-wrenching than terrorism). Paul Watkins' suspenseful novel is at once character-and plot- driven.
Watkins' books always have a moral core, and that is particularly true of this book. This work is a morality play, with multiple comments and themes on environmental issues, the effects of war, and basic good and evil. I cannot recommend this book enough-for the life of me, I cannot fathom a recommendation of less than 5 stars.

Too narrow
This book is technically competent, but goes right past the two most important factors; if you are developing XML, then you will probably be using Java, and that if you are developing applications (even with XML) on SQL server, then you are probably using COM+. Sorry.

Great companion resource to SQLXML BOL
This book is an excellent addition to the documentation provided with SQLXML, especially if you are just starting to use SQLXML. The book helps you decide if SQLXML is right for your situation. If it is, the book will continue to walk you through some real examples, covering some of the pros and cons of different methods. Being a developer, I highly recommend this book if you are using or considering to use SQLXML in a Microsoft environment.

Ideal technical publication
This is what a technical publication should be. The book covers all aspects of SQLXML, from programming to administrative issues (including security concerns -- everyone needs to do more of that). It even discusses some of the other technologies out there, such as Oracle's integration with XML and the native xml datatype. If you are using or thinking of using SQLXML, I'd consider this book to be required reading.

Great book, but...
Where are the definitions? This book goes into every nuance about making a bow, as described by absolutely fanatical bowyers. A little bit of humor and a few personal stories are related, making it a more entertaining read. Every chapter is quite thorough and caters to the novice except the longest (at around 75 pages) and most important chapter, "Bow Design & Performance," which for some reason assumes that you know what tillering, set, draw weight, draw length, string height, string stretch, etc., mean. Some of these terms are somewhat self-explanatory and some are given specific attention, but again, the basics are ignored. I had to skip the chapter and read further for tidbits of clarification and then had to go to some other sources to become familiar with just what these terms mean. What is a "bible" on a subject without the basics described thoroughly?

Very cool book, with lots of info
I bought this for my Dad, who is into bows. It has tons of information about the history of ancient bow making, arrows, all kinds of stuff. I only browsed through it, but I can tell you that if you are interested in getting into making your own kit, you should get yourself these bowyers bibles to start.

Keep history alive
I'm at a loss for words. Absolutly fantastic. I searched and I searched for scraps of information on this subject, and finally ran across this book. I was completely overwhelmed by all the well-presented information the authors managed to pack into 300+ pages. Two sleepless nights of solid reading passed and now I seem find my way into the forest to cut bowstaves every time I leave the house.

Not the holly grial
Well, I find that this book is really easy to read, and it probably is a good book if you know little about mixing, but to someone who has some knowledge on the subject, almost everything will sound familiar (at least). Also, if you're looking for a "cookbook" go find some other book, as this one hasn't fast and hard mixing rules.

Overall, it's a good book, but after reading so many positive reviews, I was expecting something else...

Great fundamentals
This book was extremely helpful. I've been doing radio production for years but never had any formal training in mixing, processing, etc. The specifics in this book helped me in so many ways, I wish that I'd known about it long ago. There are places where it doesn't go into enough detail but, it is great for getting a grip on the basics.

I found it very useful.
When my friends decided to make a band as a joke, I decided I'd pick this up. When a few of my friends decided to each learn a musical instrument at the same time, we thought it'd be fun to get together and make some really awful music under the guise of a fake band name. Yes, we're awfully bored an awful lot. After some thought, I thought I'd learn drums and perhaps some mixing on the side. With the help of this affordable little handbook, I was able to not only play some [bad] drums, but [bad] remix it when I was done. What could be better than that! Obviously, with my incredibly low expectations, I found this book to be very good. I guess that probably doesn't help much though, huh.

Give me a break
First off, the stories aren't all that disgusting or disturbing. There are a couple that are pretty good, but overall it wasn't a good book. The fact that before each story proclaims for almost every single writer that they are not or do not want to be called a "splatterpunk" kills the book. There was only one writer in the whole book that the author was able to say was a splatterpunk. Every other writer said they don't wanna be called one or the author says they aren't one. For a book entitled Splatterpunks, there sure aren't many in it.

Don't waste your time
This book features many stories yet only maybe six or seven are worth reading. And of those only about three are anything special. Most of the stories have no plot or character development and are just pointless. I was so disappointed by the quality of the stories that I found myself begging for more graphic violence or sex.The stories are neither graphic nor scary. Complete waste of time.

Exploring the extreme illustrates the nature of evil
Splatterpunk is a brilliant and entertaining work, even if the subject appears distasteful. By exploring the extremes of violence, ignorance, gore and madness, the authors invariably relate those traits as predelictions of the same kind of character, and while arguably desensitizing the reader to the horrors they portray -- a seemingly necessary step to illustrate the point -- they paint a portrait of evil that inevitably requires the purpetrator of that evil to be ignorant, mentally defective or insane. Despite other reviewer's claims that the stories are too graphic, (one in particular is truly difficult to stomach) I found myself frequently laughing at the characters, despite the near obscenity of the material, merely because their behavior was so abberant, so extreme, as to be beyond my comprehension. Yet, the editor and the authors succeed: by exploring the very limits of groteque behavior, and forcing us into contrasting it with everyday life -- if only as an escape -- we can gain some insight into the overwhelming kindness present in the average person, and the triviality his sins, and know that true evil, one of groteque violence, can only be perpetrated by the mad. Splatterpunk invites you into the morque for the autopsy -- only by watching it yourself will you really know the truth.
