there are women who cheat too
I hate to tell you.

Why don't there seem to be any books about that? Probably because it's more socially acceptable for men to cheat than it is for women.

I just have one question for Paul Blanchard: how would he react if his SO cheated on him?

Boys will be boys
On the positive side, the author rightly assures women that a man's infidelity has nothing to do with them. His behavioral clues on cheating men are extensive and helpful. On the other hand, though,Blanchard endorses the biological pshycholgists' theory that its all in the genes. Maybe so--to an extent-- but I question the source of his facts. The most extensive study of the subject indicates that slightly over 30% of men have been unfaithful, as have 15% of women--nowhere near the author's 60-75% figure. On a personal level, the book greatly upset me with its implication that there is almost nothing a woman can do to prevent this behavior and its strong suggestion that a woman should just forgive a man and try to save the relationship in most cases.(This way men have it all--stimulating sex on the side and all the security of a stable relationship.) Perhaps most upsetting(if it's true)is Blanchard's belief that men can cheat even when they dearly love the women they are with. (I am left with the suspicion that the author has himself strayed) Furthermore, Blanchard exploits womens' natural romantic hopes by telling them that they can sometimes reform their husbands/boyfriends. Aren't there enough women desperately "working" on their relaitonships in vain? Wouldn't women be better counseled not to waste their lives with these men--that there is somone better out there? This book encourages women to coddle an unfaithful man--I thought we'd come a long way.

Very informative
Informative and insightful as to why men cheat a must read for suspecting women :-)

Interesting Title but No Contents
Another hard-to-read book by Michael Grinder. I have bought this book from an used bookstore in Berkeley. Bad choice. The only thing I find useful in the book is the author's sincerity in making a positive change in the education system. Good effort but no deliverable results.

Great guide for helping your child thru the educ. system
I have a "right-brained" child, now 14, who has struggled in the classroom. Michael's book was extremely useful in helping me to understand the different learning styles and my child, as well as understanding the teaching culture and how it changes as a child goes through the primary, middle, and high school years. Michael has armed me with knowledge to communicate with teachers in a respectful way that has positively influenced their perception of my daughter and her learning differences. When I win a the lottery - :) - I will set up a foundation to fund teacher training by Michael. Since that probably won't happen, I hope to one day bring Michael's work to the southeast through our education foundation.

Great for understanding where children are at
I found this book to be particularly useful in explaining how children end up out in the corridor with the teacher giving up on them. The way in which children learn is very important and Michael has done a great job in showing how children differ.

I felt it wasn;t that great do to not enough details.
I disliked the book because it wasn't all that interesting;it kept on dragging on about the boy trying to get help for the donkey. He would always be begging the priest to let him go to this town so he could get helpfor his donkey. The book could have had more charactors and talked about them a little more and they could have had more about the boy besides the fact that he was an orphan, they could have written where his parents were and how he became an orphane. They could of told us more about the boy and his past life.

What Friends do for Friends
Set in Italy in the 1920's, this simple tale of a child's faith in St. Francis of Assisi takes the reader back to a gentler time of trust in the power of the Church. Orphaned Pepino depends upon his beloved doneky, Violetta, for companionship as well as for income, as they perform odd jobs about the village. His sole legacy from his deceased parents, Violetta functions as both friend and family to the street urchin. Thus when she beocmes incurably ill, his distress is genuine; his desperation knows no bounds.

An American soldier, who had befriended him during the war, advised him never to accept NO as an answer. Suddenly he recalls that motto and employs all manner of smiles and wiles as he pleads for a chance to save her life. He will do anything to obtain permission to bring his donkey directly into the crypt of his beloved St. Francis. He has implicit faith that the Saint who loved all animals will work a miraculous cure.

Ah, but before the Saint gets a chance to bestow (or withhold) his healing grace, Pepino must overcome serious Temporal obstacles, for the lower entrance to the tomb has been sealed for centuries. This open-ended tale leaves readers free to form their own opinion regarding the outcome of his emotional mission (as in THE LADY OR THE TIGER). We can only hope that Divine intervention will triumph--that a boy's faith will be rewarded. A modest story of trust and devotion which will appeal to the child in readers of all ages. A perfect choice for the Easter season.

Simple but compelling
Gallico's tale of a little Italian orphan and his donkey is a simple little fable but told with such conviction that it touches the heart and mind.A wonderful little story with a message of faith for the reader.

The Gideon Bible of the Database Marketing Profession
If you're job requires database marketing and you need to find ways to do it better, this book is not for you. This book appears to have been written more for the marketing manager who has database marketers reporting to him or her, but who has no direct involvement in the process. This book is just a basic overview of what database marketing is, with no practical use.
Even the examples appear contrived and not actual case studies.

Incidentally, years after purchasing this book, I took a database marketing course in my MBA program that was taught by the wife of one of the authors. Like the book, the course didn't offer much either.

lacks both theoretical depth and vivid real world cases
This book doesn't have a lot of real world business cases, a little bit boring. On the other hand, it doesn't have much theoretical depth either. As a practioner, I didn't find much useful info. inside.

Best "how-to" book for database marketing available !
Jackson and Wang have developed a "Bible" for implementing database marketing. The book helps marketers implement a customer management program at any level of application by applying 3 basic building blocks of skills. Best book i've read on the topic !

Teach Yourself Trigonometry (Teach Yourself)

reader from texas
The book would ahve been good except before you even get into the material very good there are problems with wrong answers or very confusing explantions. If this much is wrong at the beginning what about later in the book when you get into the stuff you don't know.

Clear discussion but book marred by lots of typos
This book is very well written and a lot of thought was given by the authors as to the presentation of the material and how much background to assume the reader has. I would give the book five stars based on the writing. However, the writers were not well served by the editor, as there are many typos, maybe as many as one every other page. It appears that the proof reading was done by someone without a math background, as many of the errors are obvious, such as an equal sign being omitted, turning an equality into a product. Or the length of the sides of a right triangle being given so that the hypotenuse is not the longest side. Sometimes the answers to questions are messed up, which is very frustrating. Hopefully when the book is republished, it will be given the care it deserves.

Excellent, methodical approach for the self-taught
I teach myself a lot from books. Some books provide little, some a lot. With this book you walk away with a usable knowledge of trigonometry AND invaluable knowledge of how your calculator performs mathematical operations.
I've tok trig in high school, but the subject wasn't presented in such an organized and methodical approach. The overview in Chapter 1 provided insights that eluded me in high school. Chapter 2 provided detailed knowledge of my pocket computer and knowledge of it's use to solve trig problems that I never realized before. The examples and solutions provide feedback that the lessons were learned and owned. The subsequent chapters methodically build consistent, solid, usable knowledge. Mr. Abbot continually enables you to compare table-based calculations with your calculator calculations, building your confidence in your ability to do both. IF you've wrestled with other approaches to learning trig, this is THE book to get you through it.
I have read Mr. Abbott's Calculus book and find his approach conducive to my learning.

Good for practice tests, no review
I expected more out of the cliff notes ap us history book. Upon opening the covers of the book, There were key terms and definitions, HOWEVER, the review itself was not helpful (no real review)! The only reason that i could ever imagine why anyone would buy this book is for the 4 practice tests at the back of the book.

Dont Buy this Book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, If you are an ambitious student and are hoping to earn a '5' on the exam, then listen to my advice...

Ok for test overview, and essay writing tips...
While this test prep book was helpful in that there were many tips on how to write the DBQs and FRQs, there was next to no information on actual terms, or concepts in history, although the 4 practice tests in the back were helpful. I'd use this in conjuction with Peterson's or the Complete Idiot's Guide to U.S. History... it may sound stupid, but it was really helpful.

Excellent When Used with other AP Reviews
Although this book lacked depth of information when reviewing history, the tips on the multiple choice section and how to write the essays was fabulous. The practice tests were very helpful to me because I used this book to skim through the material, to look at the terms and to make sure I knew what those terms were (even though they were not defined). The tests will help you know how to deal with the real test. I used this review book with the one by REA and the Princeton Review, and found it very helpful.

Test and Improve?
I agree with the subtitle of the book about testing your skills.... but definately not on Improving your game. The answers and the tips at the end of each quiz are telegraphic ... nothing you would benefit from. Testing your skills? Yes maybe the results of the tables can give you an idea of your level.

One of my favourite backgammon books
I have about a dozen backgammon books and this is one of the better ones. The positions included cover a huge range of situations and teach a lot of useful key positions. I find his tips and various rules of thumb highly educational.

Personally, I much prefer Lamford's writing style to Robertie's. It's clear, helpful and straightforward (not sensationalist). His PRAT (position, race & threats) advice on doubling is something I've seen no where else, and it's a very useful tool indeed.

It's good for beginners keen to get into the more complex aspects of the game and intermediates working to improve, but experts may find the limited amount of deep analysis disappointing (I'm rated about 1800 on FIBS).

Avoid this outdated book!
This book was written in 1990 and reprinted in 1994! The trading card market has undergone a drastic change since then with the market for baseball cards at an all time low. The authors give stupid advice reflecting the time span missing since it was updated. A few examples: One chapter is titled," SELL YOUR MARK MCGUIRE, RUBEN SIERRA, IVAN RODRIGUEZ,............................CARDS'!!?? The author tells us "McGuire is just not enough of an all-around player to land in Cooperstown"??? Another Chapter tells you to "sell your Nolan Ryan cards". Very bad advice. If you followed this advice in 1990 you would have lost tons of money. Equally bad advice is given on who to buy for the long term investment, they suggest Greg Jefferies, and Larry Walker to name two. They are unremarkable players whose careers are near the end or over. They also suggest to sell the basketnball cards to invest in baseball. This made sense in 1990 when Basketball was not very popular but is now much more popular than Baseball. Now to be fair, they do advise to purchase Jose Caanseco,Barry Bonds, Don Mattingly, etc. The point is, these players are already at the top of their careers and so are the prices for their cards. This book needs to be updated with a new list of potential superstars to invest in. In other respects the book offers some good advice on special issues to collect.

Great!
This book is great im now making tons of extra money by selling and buying cards at the right time i say buy it if you want to make some cash.

Lacking
I purchased this book with the intention of having a thorough reference guide for my 2000 TL. I was quicklly disappointed and surprised when 95% of what I referenced was not available, or lacked so much detail that it offered no assistance at all. This book may be a gem for integra owners (most of the examples and instructions are integra focused) but TL and RL owners beware, and take a peek at it in the stores before you commit. You could be highly disappointed.

This review had the info I was looking for. Even though I am not a mechanic I could follow the pictures.

AQ @ fill in the blank
The latest version of the utterly nonscientific and kind of silly AQ "theory"---and I use that term loosely. Razor thin on real science, but knee deep in sappy motivational homilies and feel good slogans. I think we can anticipate some additional titles soon---AQ at school, AQ in the boardroom, and the ultimate expression of AQ "theory"---AQ in the bedroom. There are an unlimited number of contexts for this "theory" to be applied to...each less convincing than the former. Want to be happier and more successful at work? This one won't help.

AQ @ Work: a proper WORKbook
Dear ANONYMOUS Reader from Sedona: I'm sorry to say, but you're all wrong. You obviously did not read Stoltz's "Turning Obstacles into Opportunities". You cannot appreciate the value of the metaphor when you don't know anything about the extensive investigation and thorough scientific research behind it. That's a stupid as thinking you can learn to drive by reading the operators manual of a car. The metaphor is not the method itself.
The book is well worth reading AFTER reading "Turning Obstacles into Opportunities".
