Amazing artwork!
I am not a huge fan of old "nursery rhyme" type poetry, but this book caught my eye and my 3 yr old boys and I love it! The illustrations are simply amazing as each page unfolds from 2 children visiting an eccentric, storytelling neighbor to the children becoming the owl and pussycat. My boys immediately noticed the firepole in the man's house among other curiosities. As the children enjoy a snack and the man reads the poem, the floor turns to water and the window seat to a pea green boat. The bespeckled little boy becomes an owl and girl becomes a cat. The poem is read a second time with them as the main characters and the illustrations cleary 'telling' the story. Just as fluidly, the children return to human form and their mothers call them for dinner as the poem winds down. This book would certainly be a wonderful addition to a classic nursery rhymes collection.

Another Great Entry in the Knight Revival
If you're a fan of Hilary Knight's artwork (and if you're not, you ought to be), you will definitely want this book. Those who are only familiar with Knight's wonderful pen and ink drawings for Eloise and Mrs. Piggle Wiggle will be amazed at the beauty of his full color illustrations. This book is good enough for either your child's/nephew's/niece's bookshelf, or (in my case) your own. The illustrations of a young boy and girl slowly becoming part of the tale are beautifully rendered. I am glad to see so many Knight books on the market again, and hope that i will get to see some more.

a vital and reliable companion to u.s. history today
This volume contains entries that deal with concepts, events, persons, and movements in u.s. history. The length of the entries is appropriate to the topic considered. In addition, the entires both inform the reader with up-to-date information and indicate how revisionist historians have resahped opionions or refocused the discipline. The entries are clearly written and eminently readable. They are persuasive in thier opionions, yet respectful of other stances. The cross references are helpful and ample. The same obtains for the bibliographies. The Oxford Companion to U.S. History far surpasses some other contemporary dictionaries in U.S. history. Its articles are treated in more depth and greater nuances. The entries in the other dictionaries are too short and far too superficial. I would highly recommend this for people involved in serious historical study and research. The price, especially the discounted one offered by amazon.com, is well worth the investment for scholars, libraries, and families.

excellent reference material
This book is a must have for anyone with an interest in American History. It gives a clear, concise explanation on most important aspects of the United States history and the history of the lands that would eventually become the United States. The most unique aspect of this book is that, unlike a school textbook, it explains a topics role throughout the history of the United States in on section. In other words, if you looked up Civil Rights, you would find a history of Civil Rights in America from the colonial period to present. All the background information you would need would be in one place, not scattered throughout the book. This is beneficial for teachers who need to quickly find some basic information to answer a student's question, or for a student who needs to quickly brush up on a topic. This is a work that I will definetly use for years to come.

Surprisingly Good!
This seemed like a silly, boring book without any real point to it--but actually, my daughter loves it! It has bright colorful pictures for her to look at, and it's not very wordy so it keeps her attention. She's 9 months old now, but for the past 4 months, this was the 1st book she'd pick up. Plus, it's a soft laminated cardboard-page book so babies can have a ball chewing on it without destroying it! Great 1st book for babies!

My son really loves this little book.
My 6 month old son laughs and smiles with every page. The colors, the babies, and the animals really capture his attention.

Excellent Palmistry Information
I found Palmistry Revealed to be of excellent quality. I find that Paul Fenton-Smith's books, including Tarot Revealed and Astrology Revealed, are very good at explaining and demystifying metaphysical material for the average person who does not have an extensive background in this field. His language is very straightforward, and his examples are very clear to understand and follow. I use his entertaining books as a reference whenever I am doing palm, tarot or astrology readings and I find his perspective helpful and refreshing. Highly recommended...

Palmistry is clear at last.
Palmistry Revealed is an in depth yet straight forward look at hand reading and Paul gives memorable examples from his own readings which bring it all to life.

The use of photographs of each of the five hand types is a bonus, as most books use only hand drawn illustrations which all look the same to me.

The only thing lacking is that it doesn't include more unusual signs and markings, but as an introduction to palmistry it is good reading and I was left wanting more.

The health reference at the back is a valuable recourse also. In the end it's Paul's stories which helped me to remember the basic information as they anchored it all in my mind.

Pam's Paradise Ranch: A Story of Hawaii

My Childhood Favorite!
I was given this book when I was about eleven by my grandmother, who had read and loved it when she was a young girl! Since then, I have read it many times over, even into my adulthood! I am now a teacher of eleven-year-olds, and was thrilled to find that I could still order Pam's Paradise Ranch for my classroom library! I have spent many hours dreaming of being young Pam, riding my horse across the slopes of Maui. I hope the book generates similar dreams in my students, as they experience Pam' Paradise Ranch for themselves.

This "sweeping saga" for girls has it all.
As a child I was an obsessive reader, preferably books with horses, mysteries and exotic locations. "Pam's Paradise Ranch" stands out as the most exciting, evocative and satisfying novel of all, and I read it many times. The basic story, of a fearful and repressed city girl who moves to Hawaii to live with her aunt and girl cousin, has so much atmosphere and Hawaiian lore, told in everyday events. The girl's discovery of nature and freedom, and of being loved for the first time, are very touching. And, even though I read it in the 60's before feminism was even a word, the strongest characters are the aunt and cousin. Politically correct, even then! A truly great book for all girls ages 7 to 15.

A nice introduction
I was fairly educated in the paranormal before I read this book, but because of the examples and information he includes from the wide perspective in the paranormal field, I found it to still be a most interesting book. He brings up a lot of research that gives us an indication to that we have still a long way to go to use our full potentional. And I sure loved the show as well... :)

This books do I highly recommend to everyone, but especially rookies and skeptics. As I think they would get the most out of this book, and maybe it will spark a curiosity that will lead to further research in the area...

Magnificent
It is rare that one finds readable a book by a celebrity. Mr O'Bryen has done a wonderful job.

what the cost of a book -vs- surgery of your knee worth?
Well, I wouldn't say it answers all my questions, but it definitely gave me a list to discuss with my potential knee docs. This is just the first step in my education process.

Gives some personal stories of other people which is very good.

I highly recommend the book as it is a small price to pay for education, considering you will be paying alot for the surgery.

One personal recommendation is call all the physical therapist in your area for their recommendation of knee docs. Hey, the pt's are the ones that get to see the results of the docs. Get the best! I found the doc for the 49ers, the doc that use to do the Warriors and the doc for the Oakland A's. It is interesting that each does a different technique for my ACL.

You want Petalla tendon, Cadavor, or hamstring technique?

This book will give you the different ways they are done.

Also check out Bob's Bum Knee web site. Man there are a lot of bad knees out there.

Get it done to stabilize your knee is my vote. My friend didn't and had to get hip replacement 25 yrs later due to ever so slight compensation of his knee. Of course ever situation is unique. Good luck.

Great Book! Excellent Information
I recently bought this book and I can honestly say that if there is anyone out there that is in the process of having an ACL Reconstruction, BUY THIS BOOK! This year I will be 5 yrs. post-op from an ACL reconstruction, and I find this book a great source of information. This will answer all your questions before and after your surgery.

Cool Man
I've read the book... I think it's great, esp the illustrations.. Cause Paul's the best :)

Great kids book especially if interested in motorcyles.
This is a children's book that was written by the wife of Doobie Brother singer/guitarist Patrick Simmons. The story emphasizes a family doing something it likes together, which is motorcycling. The book also stresses safety, some of which applies to bicycling as well. The illustrations are nicely done and perfect for kids aged between 4 and 10.
