Very interesting work focusing on the cultural background to the Pauline era. It investigates some new angles and approaches to the traditional stance often employed by New Testament scholars, thus envoking original and valid arguments based around Paul.

With so much having happened in cosmology in the past several years, pretty much any book not written very recently or about intro topics has lost some of its relevence. With that restriction in place here, one still finds this book to be very informative and useful. Many pioneering efforts are encapsulated here, and although alternative theories have surpassed some of the theories presented in this book any cosmologist should have this book on his/her shelf.

Couples: Speaking from the Heart is interesting reading for anyone intriqued by the mystery of relationships. The masterfully done photographs give more richness to the words of people, some famous some not, who attempt to do the impossible: put words to their relationships, how they have succeeded, how they have grown. It makes for entertaining reading, but it also creates in the reader both a desire to understand how relationships work and a wonder that when they do, it is a glorious thing. A different kind of book, but invigorating in its unique way.

A really nice book that deals not only with the fundamentals for beginners like me, but also gets into good amount of detail.

This book was both interesting and funny. It's like mixing apples and orranges,some stories are sweet, funny and entertaning, and then some are sour and funny in an unpoliticly correct way. But in anyway that it is funny this book will always make you laugh. So, get covered with laughs and fun and add this book to your shopping cart.

When I read this book, I was confused on how beneficial this book would be to me. The CD has a lot of shareware software, but it does not tell me where to find any freeware software. Lot of these software require that you have registered with the online services like CompuServe, America Online, etc. This book is hard to follow for people who are new to the web.

HTML, as a language, is platform independent, so even though this book is put together by Macworld - a magazine for Macintosh users, there's a lot to learn from this book. The only problem is that the floppy disk that comes along with it is of no use to PC users, which means you'll miss out on the software and example files on the floppy.

Having spent over 15 years on the Internet, and designed hundreds of web pages himself, Dave Taylor goes beyond teaching you the nuts and bolts of HTML to show you how to design and create useful, attractive webpages, and then publicise these pages.

After the customary introduction to the Web and HTML, the book slowly slips in HTML tags, organised very logically (unlike the Dummies book that forced them all together). Learning HTML in this step-by-step manner is less overwhelming, and a pleasant learning experience. Each of the chapters introducing different HTML tags has an easy-to-refer summary table to help you refresh your memory.

When you're sufficiently comfortable creating bare-bone text-only pages, the book helps you spruce up your pages with graphics, photographs, audio, and video. All this, while reminding you (and showing you how to) keep those pages shell-account-friendly.

There's an entire chapter dedicated to discussing search engines, and teaching you how to register with some of them, so that you'll be able to use that knowledge to your advantage when you start publicising your pages. This is followed by other ways and means to announce your site to the world.

The book briefly touches upon the more advanced elements of webpages - forms, imagemaps, and CGI scripting. And for those who plan to design full - blown sites instead of just arbit. webpages, the book ends with a very useful step-by-step guide to planning the entire site. Dave has also put together a list of common HTML mistakes that he's committed or been victim to, and has shown how to avoid those mistakes.

Now if only this book was available with software for the PC...

Overall I got a lot of ideas from looking at the pictures. The only drawback was that the captions didn't always list all plants used in the photo, making it difficult to recreate things exactly. But I did get inspired and planted 7 containers yesterday! A list of container-friendly plants in the back was very helpful, but could have been enhanced with a small photo of each so you'd know for sure if "Helictotrichon Sempervirens" is what you're looking for. The projects were interesting & I will attempt at least two next summer, but I wish there had been more. Probably because I'm new to gardening. I appreciated the inspiration from this book's photos.

Book was great but I keep going back to the cover. Who says "you can't judge a book by its cover". Wow that photography is compelling. So fresh, so new. Who is the photographer???

A very enjoyable read by Jerry Earl Brown. In much the same vein as Alistair MacLean's "Ice Station Zebra", we find KGB/Spetznaz and CIA/Ranger teams racing each other for a downed Soviet space station high in the heart of the Himalayan mountain range. The space station contains a canister that the Soviets want back very much, with the Americans dying of curiosity as to the importance of the object. Both teams of commandos and scientists suffer hugely in their attempt to scale 20K+ heights. The Americans are led by two adventurers; combat fatigue casualties of VietNam, driven by the mostly crazed widow of a professional expedition leader who died in the same area. In addition to the thrilling aspects of this highly readable adventure, it also offers some very interesting insights into existentialism, and the search for clarity as the mists close in. Written in 1990, the only drawback to this otherwise well fleshed out story is the leftover rampant jingoism of! ! the early 1980's as displayed in the dialogue of both the CIA and KGB agents. A minor amount of coarse language, and some fairly detailed, but not explicit, sexual activity is included in the text. Nicely done, Jerry. Any more?
