Worse than the Internal Revenue Code
Granted the area of partnership taxation and S corp taxation are confusing, this book is actually even harder to understand and follow than the actual code section itself. The organization of the book is hard to follow. In programming terms, it's like a spaghetti. Links point to everywhere of the code section but does not follow a logical pattern. You're better off reading the internal revenue code itself.

Boring and confusing
I haven't even finished it yet- but it has been a struggle to get as far as I have. Unless you like keeping track of hundreds of contradictory, speculative and unexciting details, avoid this book.

Foucault in 90 Minutes

A poor substitute for the real thing
Lots can be said about the genial and conversational style of Foucault in 90 minutes. Strathern does not pull any punches to vigorously outline his personal strong belief in his sweep of the philosopher's life and work. He does not disappoint with Foucault in 90 minutes. I would like to caution the reader about the reading and use of this (and I am not even sure it qualifies as a "book" - it is more like an essay actually) book. Readers unquestionably should not use these extremely short, and often opinionated volumes as a replacement for reading Foucault's books. On occasion, Strathern judges Foucault guilty of a number of intellectual oversimplifications, and clearly dislikes, not Foucault's homosexuality, but of some of the Foucault's life choices. I strongly feel that if you are going to provide a "reader" or "introduction" of sorts, a writer needs to be neutral and as objective as he/she can possibly be - Strathern in neither. As a point of style, the first section of the volume covers Foucault's life and work. At the end of the essay, Strathern, lists quotations from the Foucault's work and tries a chronology of his life and of the history of philosophy. In concluding, I would like to reiterate the point I made above, Strathern's Foucault in 90 minutes would have been as a good introduction to demystify Foucault, to establish a form of working context which makes the life and work of Foucault less ominous. Unfortunately, Strathern is neither. Best to try Macey, Eribon, Miller or even David Shumway (all available on Amazon.com) for a more scholarly introduction.

French for Business Studies

terrible terrible book!
This is really one of the worst textbooks I was ever confronted with. The texts are all so stereotypical, the grammatical explanations are absolutely not coherent. I was really glad that I knew French before starting this course. The book didn't teach me anything. On the contrary, it unnecesarily complicated everything.

Too many assumptions
I had to purchase this book for a class, taught by the authors no less - and I must say the book is put together very well visually. There are some parts of the book that are elegantly written, and explain some things in good detail, but they seem to be in the minority. On the whole, there seem to be way to many assumptioms made while going through the book. When explaining something, they point to an excercise for further detail, in which they ask you to proove what you were going to look up more information on, instead of actually giving the information you were requesting. If you have to buy the book there's no real way around it, but if you're interested in learning about algorithms and have no prior knowledge, I would not recommend this book.

Yet again, Ehrlich got it wrong
About every eight years, Paul Ehrlich issues a prediction of disaster. And about a decade later, we learn he was wrong.

In his 1968 book "The Population Bomb", he predicted that the world would be unable to feed itself by the end of the century (yes, that century that ended over a year ago). Billions would die of starvation, and the world population would drop to a fraction of its 1968 value.

In 1976, his book "The End of Affluence" predicted that the world economy would crash "within a decade", resulting in a "North America unable to even feed itself".

In 1984, his book "The Cold and Dark: The World After Nuclear War" stated that, unless a unilateral nuclear disarmament pact was implemented, nuclear war was inevitable. He also failed to forsee the collapse of the Soviet Union, arguing that American nuclear policy would result in an increasing repressive and centralized Soviet economy.

This is just the most recent case. He's probably due for another book right about now, and his fans will forget the past when reading it.

Heidegger and Death a Critical Evaluation

Lacking Philosophical Acumen
Heidegger scholars pretty much unanimously agree that Edwards completely missed the boat on this one. He takes "death" at face value and ignores Heidegger's clear warnings in Being and Time that this should not be done.

Intellectually Non-Reciprocal
Should one wish to unequivically refute the revisionist's arguments, one must present unequivical factuality. Yet, Mr. Senitko utterly failed to do so. This is an intellectually non-reciprocal attempt to provide such evidence with quasi-factualities and, perhaps, afactualities.

This book has exactly three pages on house foundations. If you want to know how Prince Charles has affected housing in Great Britian, buy this book; it's useless in the United States of America.

Not as what is expected from the title...
In my opinion, the "Golf Instruction Manual" is better than this book. "How to play Golf" does not carry explanation as good as "Golf Instruction Manual". I also apprehend that the "Golf Instruction Manual" suits players of all level especially beginners. The "How to play Golf" book could have been written better, a lot better, indeed.
