Cadogan's Tuscany guide is full of interesting details!
This is an authoritative, detailed guidebook that includes information on little known regional gems that are not covered in many other series. The descriptions of sites, particularly historic ones, is excellent with interesting anecdotal information to enliven the historical. The recommendations on accommodations and dining are always quite trustworthy and again include less well known hotels and restaurants. The book begins with an informative and interesting history of the region.

Thoughtful, and filled with valuable details
Cadogan's guide to Sardinia is filled with history and practical details. The guide doesn't have pictures, just simple illustrations and some useful maps. The recommendations for hotels were also very good. We stayed in Cagliari, Arbus, and Nuoro. We were looking for hotels which were charming and not too expensive, and the book definitely met that need. The beach descriptions were also useful. Sardinia has many of them. :-) It's not necessary to go to the more expensive Costa Smeralda region in order to have a wonderful holiday in Sardinia. As a side tip, if you are going to Sardinia via Cagliari, drop by the tourist office. The people there were very nice, and they had a plethora of good information on Sardinia.

Another excellent travel book from Cadogan
If you are looking for a travel guide that not only provides an overview of the most important sights, places to eat, stay, etc., but does so in a contextualized setting where you also have at your fingertips a detailed description of the region's history, art, architecture, culture, and cuisine, then the Cadogan series will be the perfect match. This is the kind of travel guide that you can read just for fun, to learn about a place and its history, even if you have no intention of or opportunity to visit the place in person. Once you've flipped through its pages, though, chances are it will have whet your appetite to get on the next plane and explore everything you've just read about. As with the Cadogan books on Italy and Spain by the same authors, this book gives an excellent detailed summary of the political and social history of southern France, along with chapters on the area's different cultures, languages, and arts. This introductory material is followed by a series of chapters devoted to each sub-region, including an unusually strong emphasis on the Languedoc in addition to Provence.

witty, excellent, the best I've read
Although it's not as lavishly illustrated as many other guides to Venice, Facaros and Pauls have produced an exquisitely written, witty and erudite guide that reveals a fascinating side to Venice behind all the tourist schlock. It's divided into 6 walks and we followed every one religiously, and were never disappointed. Highly recommended

A moving story of adolescent friendship
This novel impressed me so much when I read it as a teenager that I wrote to the author and corresponded with him for several years. It's a gripping story about real friendship trying to win out over gossip and fear. The two main characters are both believable and compelling. I recommend it without reservation.

A beautiful and informative addition to any Catholic home.
The layout of this calendar enhances the beauty of the images, making each page a work of art. The information includes all feasts for the U.S. and Canada, as well as the major secular holidays. The quotes from the Holy Father make the calendar even more special.

Easy to read.
I thought the book explained each topic in an easy to follow manner. There are some challenging excercises at the end of each section. Some of the exercises stumped me, but I guess that's good if you're looking to be challenged. I bought the solutions manual which gives step by step solutions to the odd questions. The book doesn't cover every area of calculus, but I found it useful when I didn't understand what we covered in class.

A good introductory calculus text
I used this text in my 1st year undergrad. It is one of the better textbooks available for learning introductory calculus. The text covers most of the standard material and includes most of the mathematical proofs. There are lots of problems and there are odd answers. A well-written book.

This book immerses you in a world of fantasy all its own
This book was fascinating. It had all the information you would ever need to live in the utopia-gone-bad world of the three counties. I liked it and I'm sixteen years old, so it's not just for kids!
