A fine, eclectic collection of urban fiction
A varied yet cohesive set of short stories that capture the heart of St. Paul, MN. A small yet very urban city. Check out "Chicken" - a quirky, endearing tale.

These are great stories combined in an even greater book.
Twenty Questions is a great collection of stories. Some are sad, some are happy, and some are humorous. All together they make a wonderful book. "Now I Know My ABC's" is about a young man trying to deal with his younger sister's mental illness. "If I Had a Hammer" is a humorous account of a man dealing with unemployment. "H.O.D." is one of the two pieces of poetry hidden in the book. It is about one man's night out and the morning after. These are only three out of the twenty stories inside this book. They are all equally good and enjoyable. I strongly recommend getting this book especially since the author, Paul McComas, is my godfather. It is a fantastic book.

Provocative and insightful - Paul Keens-Douglas
I once came across this book as a young child and it took me several years as an adult to find it and recapture the joy that I had felt reading it when I was younger. If you are West Indian and would like to savor the old familiar moments of the past you will really enjoy this book. It is written in Trinidadian dialect (which is easy to interpret - he includes a glossary in the back). I really enjoyed this book and it is part of my collection of Paul Keens-Douglas' books that I am creating in my own personal library. I highly recommend this book!!!

Two Eagles in the Sun
Campbell does a great job offering concise information about Mexican Culture as it is related to the USA and Latin America. He offers insight for the Borderlands and the interior. This book is like the "Cliffs Notes" of Mexico. For a fast and easy-to-read book filled with information about issues such as: Battles, Holidays, Economy, History of the Country, Impact of NAFTA, Attitudes of Mexican People, etc.

This is a great reference tool that you will want on your bookshelf for a long time. It offers the nuts and bolts of the issues and you do not have to read all night to find the scoop on the situation. For further reading, the appendix and bibliography is great.

Orthodoxy on parade
This is an excellent study of John Paul II's difficult encyclical on faith and reason. Most of the contributions deal with the vexed issue of "Christian philosophy," a much disputed topic in the 1930s which has been given new life by our reigning philosopher-pope. Highlights are the fine essays by Avery Cardinal Dulles, placing the current issues in historical context, and the remrkable essay by David Meconi on the Marian dimension of philosophy.

I want to hug them all!
If you are looking for a book that combines the history of teddy bears with lots of full color photos of individual bears that is also packed with a lot of interesting facts about each bear (and about bear making in general) then this is the book for you.

I am not a serious teddy bear maker, but I enjoy looking at the myriad of photos of the antique bears and learning more about teddy bear history.

This is the best veggy book I have seen.
I checked this book out of my local library. So much veggy food all looks the same, this book wowed me. I stick post it notes on the pages I plan to use. 33 recipes looked good enough to try. In most cook books, if I get 3 or 4 good recipes I am glad I bought the book. I returned the book to the library and bought a copy. Good book. Good food

The people of Luzzara
Never have I experienced before the feeling of looking into Italy's eyes so deeply. The photos of Paul Strand along with the notes of Cesare Zavattini are a masterpiece.

But most important : you may fall in love with the little girl on page 72. As for me, I will never forget that look.

Even better in Spanish!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd write this review in Spanish, but my computer won't use the accents and such. So here it is, in English. I liked this book in Spanish--it was very well written. It follows a similar plot to the English version, where Josefina and her sisters are not sure about what to do this Christmas because their mama died not long ago. They are just getting into the holiday spirit when Josefina and her sisters discover that the altar cloth that their mama made has been destroyed because of the flood. Josefina is determined to find Nina, the doll her mother made to be passed down from sister to sister. Josefina and her sisters end up enjoying Christmas--I'll not give away the ending. The book was even better to read in Spanish, where the traditions and songs seem to make more sense than they do in the English version. Jose Moreno doesn't lose any of the story that was written by Valerie Tripp, the book is a good, recommended read in both languages!

Too Creative!!:)
I read the first story in this book, on my way home from school. The other stories I've just finished except for a few that I read the day I borrowed the book from the library. The stories are creative, and imaginative. Most of them are funny except for maybe one, about a fox, but they are all worth reading.
