wonderfully evinced
Professor Barnes easily makes clear Satre's works even through his haze of Extentialism. As Sartre gave us his posture of dialectical materialism, Professor Barnes clearly explains Sartre. Thank you Professor Barnes, and, do it again and again, please.

This is the best and most concise intro to Sartre.
"Search for a Method" was originally intended as a postcript to the 1960 "Critique of Dialectical Reason," but it became the intro & then was published separately. Its thesis, "Cultural order is irreducible to natural order," forms the basis for an examination of contemporary Marxism, which Sartre calls "arrested." Between "Being and Nothingness" and the often puzzling posthumous material, this is the best and most concise intro to Sartre by Sartre. Kudos to Professor Barnes for another outstanding translation!

Second Sight Takes On A New Meaning
Maggie and Jamie are the main characters in this christian love story. They have both lost somebody they loved dearly and never thought they could love again. Maggie's husband had been an organ donor and Jamie had been in an accident. They met when Maggie decided to get back into horseback riding. The author of Searching for Paul keeps your adrenalin flowing with the many surprising turn of events. This is one of those books that you have trouble putting down. I look forward to reading many more books from this author.

A wonderfully written romance novel of the first order
Searching For Paul is the lovely, heartwarming story of a young wife's attempt to deal with her beloved husband's death after only three years of marriage. A social worker, Maggie threads her way through her personal grief, insecurities and uncertainties as she strives to south though her wildly fluctuating feelings. In spite of warnings, common sense rarely comes into play even though she tries to focus on God's promises. Her love of horseback riding leads her to a horse farm and the complicated existence of Jamie McKellar. Maggie encounters unexpected twists and turns in her life after her first miserable meeting with the brusque and secretive man. Searching For Paul is a highly recommended, emotionally rewarding, wonderfully written romance novel of the first order.

A Page Turner
This is a superb book. I couldn't put it down. Extremely well written and a must have for anyone interested in football from the fans point of view.

Finally, a view not biased by finance
I can't recommend this book stronger. For Manchester United fans it's the opportunity to follow a year with the side from the untainted by the PLC view of the supporter. For Reds abroad, it serves as the perfect reminder of home. For non-United or those not football supporters it's a chance to understand what we go through. Well written and personal, Paul and Linda have created a book you'll want to dip into time and time again.

The Secret World Government.
In this strange conspiracy book, the Major-General Count Cherep-Spiridovich explains how a secret government is manipulating the affairs of the world from behind the scenes. The have created the First World War and are on their way to creating the Second. By manipulating world affairs and "playing both sides" these elite bankers, especially the Rothschild family, the Illuminati of Adam Weishaupt and other elitist secret societies have been able to swindle much of the modern world. The Count attempts to unmask their doings and reveal these evil forces for what they are, a threat to Christianity, Christian unity, and the Aryan race.

I liked this book very much and recommend it to everyone
This author makes a fantastic work in this book. It's packed with information about the 'The hidden hand' and how it operated and controlled the world.

The author seems to have dedicated his own soul and life to reveal the 'hidden hand/The secret world government'.

This book was also recommended by the chess worldchampion Bobby Fischer when he was interviewed by 'Bomba Radio' in Bagio City-Philipines.

Excellent book for exam, decent lab manual (seperate)
The book covers the exam blueprint, as well as outline basic security practices. I've heard a lot people state that this test is very basic. It is basic, however the information covered is quite broad. The book does a good job of explaining technologies and inner workings of security. I also used the accompaning lab manual, which was a little too easy, but a nice compliment to the book. Highly recommend if your getting into security or wish to take the Security+ exam.

Security+ Guide to Network Security Fundamentals
I thought this book went over every basic and advanced features of security. There was alot of usefull hands on labs and review questions. Defintly prepares you for the CompTIA Security+ Exam.

Sedges: Carex (The Illustrated Flora of Illinois)
Published in Hardcover by Southern Illinois Univ Pr (Txt) (March, 1999)
Authors: Robert H. Mohlenbrock and Paul Nelson
Amazon base price: $60.00
Average review score:

Great Illustrations
Very useful book. Excellent illustrations. If you want to know what sedges are, I give it five stars.

Mohlenbrock Carex
Mohlenbrock's addition to the illustrated floras available in the midwest is most welcome. This volume describes the taxonomy and illustrates each species of Carex found in Illinois. The application to adjacent states is relatively easy since the genus is widespread. The book provides an update of the Carex section of the Gleason New Britton and Brown Illustrated Flora which is now out of print. Mohlenbrock's Illinois Flora was not illustrated and given the complexity of the genus, the clear diagrams and location maps make an arduous taxonomic task somewhat, I emphasize somewhat, easier. If you are working in wetlands this volume will be of special interest to you and should be a part of your office collection.

great tool for investigating the origins of our beliefs
This book is a gem. Brenner and Martin make a valuable contribution to the growing literature of freedom from the archaic past and its limitations. They present a process to help us examine the roots of our thinking, feeling, and automatic behaviors which can bind and paralyze us. The Family Triangles process they recommend is a simple, but not simplistic tool to navigate the confusing inward journey of understanding what motivates our experiences.

The process uses the metaphor of triangles: mommy, daddy, and me. For both parents, we are asked to identify the gifts and hurts we inherited. Then we examine the coping style we developed to deal with our hurts. Once these are recognized, we are shown how our coping styles, turned inward, are actually the exact solution to the discord we experience in our lives. Another useful insight is that the hurts we experience are in actuality blessings, for each hurt carries with it the gift of the shadow side. Once we identify the shadow of the hurt, we can come to truly appreciate all the gifts of our childhood experience, and embrace everything we have encountered, thus becoming whole and capable of choosing another path.

For example, an adult may identify the gift from his or her mother as stability, however the hurt might be criticism. In day to day life, the adult may project or automatically assume that those who are stable are also critical, thereby misinterpreting the actions of others. This inaccurate assumption will unconsciously frame and determine the outcome of his or her relationships. By investigating the source of this assumption, he or she is able to identify the gift in the hurt, which may be discipline, determination or independence (to name a few). Additionally, the child most likely developed coping skills to compensate for the hurt, such as acceptance of others (the opposite of criticism). As an adult, these coping skills are generally directed at others because we all fear hurting others, as we have been hurt. These coping skills will provide the solution to the pain we experience. By applying these skills to ourselves, we learn to nurture ourselves when we hurt.

This is a great tool for those who shy away from "metaphysical" or "higher power" based tools of self -knowledge. However, for others, it will beautifully compliment investigations into self -imposed limitations that deny realization of grace.

A book that changed my presentation life
In retrospect, I realize that this book is the source of so many of the stories and principles that I pass on to others about making presentations. Key concepts, vividly and succinctly explained. I originally saw a video presentation that was a companion to the book, but reviewing the book again now brings those thoughts home again.

For me, some of the most important points are ones that innoculated me against a lot of bad advice that's out there. I'm sorry to see it's out of print. I'm still going to recommend it to the rest of my company.

the best
After 15 years of public speaking, I still think this book is hands down the very best on this topic. It's short, pithy style is perfect (just the like talk you want to give). Paul LeRoux presents the keys to successful presentations in a compelling manner. Anyone who speaks to a group is selling something, if only a point of view.

!st edition, why no reprints!!!!!
Shadowbeat has information on underground trid pirates and all that media stuff that plays into everyday life! No other SR sourcebook has yet to include any of this information. Think how much you would miss if you had no media influences in your life, now think how much your SR campaign is missing!

the Holy Grail of Shadowrun Sourcebooks
Shadowbeat is IMHO one of the best sorcebooks ever published by FASA. It covers the nitty gritty stuff mentioned in other sourcebooks (like Seattle) like Urban Brawl teams and Simsense recording. Combine this with new rules for being a Rocker, and a boatload of other stuff, and you've got a soucebook well worth tracking down. A must for any GM looking to put a little more spice and depth into thier SR game.

Fantastic book on Shakespeare
This winter break I went on a Shakespeare buying spree, and this book is one of the fine gems I found. A large, but fascinating book, this work of great scholarship and excitement takes the reader on a whirlwind tour of Shakespeare, even into rather obscure corners of his works (Trollius and Cressida, Timon of Athens). This book is a must read for any would be deep thinker about Shakespeare.

The New Shakespeareans
Shakespeare as Political Thinker is a must for everyone interested in the political thought of William Shakespeare. This reprint will finally allow new comers to become familair with a commonsensical approach to Shakespeare's plays. The introductory chapter by John Alvis is worth the price. Perhaps the best Shakespearean critic alive, Alvis has an uncanny ability to show Shakespeare's moral seriousness without making the bard an unquestioning adherent to any political school or theological creed. Many of the essays that follow are also well done: Jaffa's chapter on Shakespeare's entire corpus, Laurence Berns' meditation on Lear etc.

The second printing of Shakespeare as Political Thinker gives hope to those interested in relearning ancient wisdom and pays tribute to its inspiration, Shakespeare's Politics (Allan Bloom).
