Reprint quickly Pls.
Being an outsider of European Intergration as asian, I can catch layout picture from this book about the EURO system. Even it will bring new future in major regions on focus economy and business. This book is not under academical theories only but also on practical issues. And the writing is not hard to read for non-inglish speaker.

Good book for understanding the economic impact of Euro
It's a book about EURO which you'll find interesting. It is actually a collection of articles written by various industry specialists. It examines the impact of EURO on many areas like Bond Market, Equity Market & foreign exchange rate etc, it also illustrates the role of ECB.

It's recommended to students who want to have a quick grasp of knowledge in the EMU. It contains many graphs and diagrams which can raise your speed of reading. However, the impact of Euro on Equity market is a little bit too short.

Highly recommended to overseas students in Europe.

The Existentialist Reader : An Anthology of Key Texts
Published in Library Binding by Routledge (March, 2001)
Author: Paul S. Macdonald
Amazon base price: $95.00
Average review score:

An Intriguing But Incomplete Book
One doesn't often come across a text that approaches existentialism collectively rather than focusing on individual thinkers. This book is thus unique in assembling these pieces but unfortunately falls just a bit short of being comprehensive. Noticeably absent are such essential precursors to existentialism as Kierkegaard, Schopenhauer, and Nietzsche.

A Valuable Book.
This is a very insightful and concise anthology that may serve as a bible for those entering the world of existentialism and phenomenology; also, for those who already have a fundamental grasp of existential themes and existential ontology this book serves to both refresh the memory and cement a well-rounded knowledge of the topic in the reader.
Don't be overly alarmed about the omission of Nietzsche and Kierdegaard. The reader is informed of this omission in the preliminary acknowledgements and is given a reasoning for the omission in the introduction.
Dr. MacDonald has written an extremely comprehensive and lucid introduction - in itself the introduction is a valuable exposition of the subject matter. The energy, vigour and supply of intricate detail that is given in the introduction is followed through to all subsequent chapters. Furthermore, the selection of readings by the eight different authors gives the reader an invaluable insight into the thoughts of some of the 20th century's most prominant thinkers.
Overall, this is an exellent book that supplies the reader with an impetus for further existential and phenomenological inquiry.

Exploring Animal Behavior: Readings from American Scientist

Somewhat stimulating collection of articles on behaviour
This collection of journal articles assembled by Sherman and Alcock is somewhat thought prevoking. Unfortunately that is where it ends. Most of the articles are subjective in nature and often lack any real scientific structure (e.g., no data, unclear methods, etc.) If, however, you enjoy a good biological debate, this book contains many articles which argue various points of view (with various degrees of ability) on subjects such as sociobiology, coevolution, and behavioural genetics.

great reading for an undergraduate student
As a third year university studentm, I read this text as supplementary reading for our Animal Behaviour undergraduate course last semester. Throughout the duration of the course I was suitably impressed with the presentation of the material in the class (particularly due to the notable performances of the two profs teaching it) but found that this text was a truly engaging read that helped round out my learning experience.

While it does not follow the structure of a true scientific report, we do keep in mind that it is composed of excerpts from a scientific magazine that also caters towards the laypeople (i.e. those who have no major scientific background), just like Scientific American and Wildlife Conservation (although both those magazines are even more general than the American Scientist!). I found this to be one of the best supplementary texts that we have been given at the university so far, due to the scope of interesting topics presented, from canid domestication to prairie-vole partnerships to human mating strategies. As many of my other classmates, I read the rest of the book (as well as parts of the other assigned textbook) without the necessity of our profs assigning readings, growing more and more attached to the amazingly captivating field of ethology.

As I mentioned before, this text is not written in the format of a scientific journal, but it still educates and inspires readers of our generation to investigate the issues discussed further in depth (even during our spare time) by using those aforementioned scientific journals to glean valuable insight into actual experimental methods. Excellent!

Film Noir

Worth buying for extensive list of noir titles
These brief vademecums, or "idiots'" guides, are generally a waste of time and money. This one, however, provides a valuable consumer resource: an extensive list of films noirs, with minimal information (director, studio, one or two starring actors, year, brief plot summary). It's far more complete a list than is contained (for instance) in the venerable compendium Film Noir: An Encyclopedic Reference to the American Style, and it helps to identify films of interest that may be coming up on cable movie channels at 4a.m. Plus, it's cheap enough.

Handy, quick reference to Film Noir
As someone who likes to dabble in film studies and is looking for some guidance into watching films with a more critical eye, this is an excellent, little introduction into Film Noir. The author gives a brief history (we are talking about only a handful of pages) of film noir and follows up by summarizing and analizing seven films that help define the genre. None of this is meant to be comprehensive, but it does serve to give the reader a good feel for the entire film genre. Perhaps the best feature of the book is a 40+ page, annotated listing of Film Noir films--a great feature for any one wanting to watch more Film Noir but not knowing which titles to start with.

My only complaint is that the writing is often fragmented and not always thoroughly worked through. It seems to me that there could have been some more editorial guidance in creating the final product.

A passably good tale
This is the second novel in a trilogy. The main problem I have with this novel is the continual jumping back and forth between scenes of action, sometimes without finishing action in progress. The author still seems to have a problem writing characters out of situations he has written them into. He also sometimes has a tendency to write with an echo, repeating information he has already provided.

Overall, it is a somewhat interesting tale, covering about a year's time from late 1812 to late 1813 during the earlier stages of the War of 1812. It involves action in North American waters aboard both privateers and U.S. Navy frigates, and some interesting aspects of that time period, including the active trade between New England and Canada while the countries were at war.

The author has a tendency to write characters out of the plot by noting that they were killed in the last battle, although the action itself may or may not be included. Casualties in naval service were very high from battles, accidents (including shipwrecks), and disease. It is unlikely, however, that privateers would have fought with each other as there was little profit in that. C. Northcote Parkinson, in his novel "Devil to Pay," describes the attitude of privateers in regard to profit. Privateers and smugglers gave their first loyalty to money.

On an historical note, the War of 1812 was a war that should not have been fought. Issues between the countries had been resolved at meetings in London, and dispatches were sent to the American government. Before the dispatches arrived, the hawks in the U.S. Congress prevailed in passing a Declaration of War. The war resulted in a large number of deaths and disabilities, and substantial losses to commerce and property. The U.S. gained nothing of any substance. That lesson seems to have been lost by later generations.

The autobiography of Charles Tyng, "Before the Wind," starts at the end of the war and documents the re-emergence of U.S. maritime commerce following the war.

Even better than the first one!!
White's second volume in the War of 1812 Trilogy is superb! The action as we follow Isaac Biggs and his shipmates raiding British shipping in the Winter North Atlantic is great and the simultaneous action on USS Constellation with Jack Clements as they try to get to sea from Baltimore gives some insight to the problems experienced by the US Navy in this war. I was right there as the British stormed aboard the USS Chesapeake on June 1 1813 and accompanied the American survivors to Melville Island prison in Halifax. The concluding action which brings Isaac and his Navy mates back together is excellent. It will be hard to wait until Fall for the third and final volume. An outstanding read for all maritime history buffs.

Quick/Easy/Fun art ideas for parents or teachers
The ideas for art projects here really do take about five minutes to prepare, which is a blessing if you've ever spent more time setting up an art project than a child actually spent doing it! Many of the projects are original, some are fresh variations of more familiar techniques. This is a good reference for teachers, parents, and anyone who works with children, especially at this price. Another good point about the ideas is that they are easily adaptable for a wide variety of ages, from preschool to elementary age children. Good for rainy days activities, birthday parties or presents, and any day you need a quick, easy, and fun art project that turns out well.

Nice Art Book
I bought this book to use with my School Age Child Care Program. The children have loved doing the projects. Don't let the title fool you, the art ideas take longer than five minutes to complete. As one reviewer already stated, these projects only take five minutes to set up. The book is divided into four sections: print, glue, scissors, paint. I am really happy with this purchase!

Forgotten Traditions of Ancient Chinese Medicine

Highly Recommended
Here is a text for scholars, for students of Chinese language and culture, and for those clinicians (particularly herbalists) who recognize a relationship between their clinical skill and their understanding of Chinese thought. The author, Hsu Ta-Chun, wrote in the 18th century immediately prior to the introduction of Western science and medicine to China. By speaking his opinions clearly and reporting on an art with which he was deeply intimate, Hsu has bequeathed us a richly detailed version of Chinese medicine at its height.

Forgotten Traditions of Ancient Chinese Medicine
This book is a translation of a text from 1757 by Hsu Ta-ch'un, translated by Paul U. Unschuld.

This book will be of particular interest to those who have a background in traditional Chinese medicine and are knowledgeable with TCM terminology. It is not a book recommended for beginners wishing to study TCM.

The book is fascinating, delving deeper into the mysteries of TCM classifications and diagnosis and will be difficult for anyone trained in TCM to put down.

The chapters are short, to the point and full of ancient wisdom. One chapter I enjoyed deals with asking the patient for his/her preferences and aversions, what gives them joy or misery, etc. This will further enable the trained practitioner to diagnose the nature of the patient's illness. Fascinating reading.

This is not an herbal material medica and if anyone is looking for such a book I would not suggest this. It's more for diagnosis and understanding the nature of illnesses rather than specific herbs and formulas.
