Super!
I am on an RCIA team and am learning about the RCIA as I go along. This answered so many questions that no one else has been able to answer for me. I didn't get answers like this from my pastor or from my DRE or from the Beginnings and Beyond (religious formation by osmosis) weekend.

Great book.

A lovely and well written invitation.
This is a lovely little book. While the subject may be relatively specialized within mathematics, the presentation in the book is lively, and the book is likely to engage readers who are generally interested in math,-- even if they might not, at the outset, recognize the words in the title of the book. And readers who are not already familiar with the subject, are likely to be surprised by the universality, the beauty, and power of the underlying idea. If they thought at first that the writing might be dry, they will instead find a page-turner (--at least relative to other specialized math books). The present authors do take great care in explaining the ideas in plain English. The co-authors are all masterful expositors who engage their readers. They are equally engaging and popular as speakers at confernces and workshops in mathematics.

Ingeniosa Narrativa

Coming of Age story
For young Katie Koenig, growing up German-American in the Texas Hill Country during World War I means fighting battles of her own. While suspicious outsiders challenge the patroitism of her tradition-bound German neighbors, Katie's own family and friends question her loyalty to Franz, her fiance, sent to fight as an American doughboy in Germany. The author skillfully weaves details of life in this community-the odors of Mama's baking, the feel of the earth in Katie's beloved flower garden, the excitment of dressing for a dance-into a moving story of a girl's coming of age in difficult times.

Be Not Afraid--He Was Right
Beautiful...a beautiful way to begin the new millennium as we reflect upon excerpts from our most fearless and patient leader.

A priest read a page at a mass during a homily and I was hooked on the idea to make this a daily devotional part of my prayers. These short insights into the human condition allow me to pray for us all.

Showcases 34 superbly crafted salmon flies
Century End: A Fly Tying Journey showcases 34 superbly crafted salmon flies. Each one is beautifully presented in full color and exquisite detail, with the recipe and originator noted. Paul Ptalis discuses and illustrates techniques related to artistic "flow", "seeing the material", and developing one['s own style in tying these salmon flies. This informative, artistic presentation is further enhanced with hook information (both antique and contemporary), tying suggestions, and more. Century End is a practical, esthetic, and very welcome addition to any dedicated angler's reference shelf.

Informative overview on the marriage of print and clay.
Paul Scott Takes you through the historical and contemporary uses of print and clay. Very little has been written about the unusual marriage between print and clay. The book is written in an easy to follow dialogue that explains the processes involved and includes many color photographs. I recommend the book to anyone interested ceramics and imagery.

An introduction to the work of the Father of Modern Art
This Famous Artist book by Antony Mason serves as an introduction to the life and work of Paul Cezanne. These books are organized in a particular way for each two-page spread: On the left page there is an illustration of the artist's home or environment and the story of the artist's life, along with a painting and a small symbol used to indicate the size of the paintings relative to a person. On the right page there are more paintings (usually with a key section enlarged) with text about the artist's work at the time, along with a feature on the artist's technique (e.g., painting with a palette knife, using watercolor, showing depth) with practical projects to try. I have read a couple of other books on Cezanne and Mason certainly provides a better understanding of how the artist is a major influence in Post-Impressionist art and is called the father of Modern Art.

Of the several books look at the life and art of Cezanne this particular volume probably has the best balance between the two. This book will certainly give you the basics and in the back you will find a brief history of art that puts the Impressionist movement in perspective and a list of museums and galleries at which you can see examples of Cezanne's work, although much of it is in the hands of private collectors. Other titles in the Famous Artists series look at Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Monet, Picasso and Van Gogh.

A delightful sketchbook
"A Cezanne Sketchbook: Figures, Portraits, Landscapes and Still Lifes" is a reproduction of the informal drawings of the artist Paul Cezanne. These are all black-and-white sketches, accompanied by an informative introduction by Carl O. Schniewind. The sketchbook captures Cezanne's monumental human figures, haunting faces, and lyrical landscapes.

The really wonderful surprise in the sketchbook is the fact that the artist allowed his young son Paul (b. 1872) to also draw in the sketchbook. Thus we see these charming childish sketches alongside the work of a master artist. When you also consider the many portraits of little Paul by his father in this volume, the "Cezanne Sketchbook" becomes a moving testament to the love that binds a father to his son.
