Morrie: In His Own Words
This book is truely a wonderful learning experience about how people should treat and live their life. Its words of wisdom are stated by an old dying man named Morrie Schwartz suffering from ALS which helps him better to understand himself and add to his prospective of living and dying in addition to his other life experiences. They boil down mainly to being more open and loving(telling more would ruin the magic of reading it). I am a living testament that the advice Morrie has to offer works like a charm for it has made me a better person to myself and around others by practicing what he says as much as a can to a certain extent. As a book it is very easy to read and understand. However what took one point of this book is its originality(thanks to Tuesday's With Morrie, which has almost the exact same theme and lessons).

Morrie delights me
I've got "Tuesdays with Mirror" as a gift from my ex-boss when I quited from the previous job. Now I do want to thank you her. It's such a wonderful gift. Actually, I'm a kind of person who doesn't normally read a kind of book like this but when the first time I read it, I could hardly put it down. Morrie got me as like he got Mitch. While I was reading, I was curious what will happen in the end and questioned to myself if there was a man kind like this in the World!! Yes, there was. Here he is. Morrie is sweet, gentle, nice and worm. That's the way I felt from the book. His words are so simplicity and do touch my heart. I wish, for the rest of my life, I could live and see the world like him just some of his parts!! Thank you Morrie & Mitch for a wonderful thesis and thank you again, Mitch, for letting us touch his soul and know this wonderful old man, Morrie Schwartz.

A beautiful book
I read "Tuesdays With Morrie", but this book is much more meaningful as it was written by Morrie himself. I read it quickly, but marked a lot of passages.

End of life experiences and dying are subjects that I deal with each day. How I wish that people would read Morrie's book and put things in proper perspective. It seems that people die without really living. Morrie didn't and for this I thank him.

This should be required reading for anyone who deals with terminally ill persons.

RAPTOR
Raptor is a great book about a boy named Zack whose dad found what appears to be an actual raptor egg. On his way out of the cave he was attacked by its mother. When they found him, they thaught there had been an avalanche. His son Zack went back with his friend Uta, a native Indian, and found the egg. They took it home and that's when the trouble started, the egg hatched.
This book is filled with nothing but action. It's a real thriller and I recommend this book to anyone who likes an action packed adventure. I just have to give Paul Zindel 5 stars and say that this is some of his best work.

Jay's Raptor Review
The story is about a named Zack, who finds an egg of a raptor. When it hatches, he loves it. He meets a girl named Uta. The mother raptor comes after them and takes her baby back. Zack and Uta go to the mountains to get the raptor back. The story is like a movie I saw called "Jurassic Park". It has a bunch of raptors in it. It is scarey and exciting like the book.

I love the book because it was exciting. It was scary. It really is a great book for people in my age group. It is gory but good.It was hard to read but good.

I recommend this book to kids between 12 to 19.It is a little gory and also hard to read.It is a good book to read.

The Raptors Revenge
Raptor Is a story about a herd of raptors that amazingly have survived to the present. Professor Norak is a paleontologist in Flaming Gorge, Utah. He goes into an abandoned cave exploring, and comes across something that would make a man a billionaire - a living raptor! After a cave-in, Professor Norak's son, Zack, a daring and courageous teenager; and his friend Uta embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Climbing the shafts of Silver Mountain, finding whole new species of animals, and most terrifying of all, discovering a herd of living raptors!

This book is Thrilling and exciting. It is awesome because there is always something exhilarating going on. It's suspenseful you never know what's going to happen next. The book is full of action, from having a living raptor in your living room to encountering one out on the road in your jeep. When I asked my brother about the book he said "I found it cool because lots of cool and almost deadly events happened in this book." This book is kind of scary and inappropriate for little kids. But the book is great for older kids. The scary parts keep you on the edge of yours eat, and keeps the story going. There is an exception to this, my little brother. He loved it; when I asked him about the bad parts he couldn't think of any.

Excellent for the beginner who wants to become an expert....
I am relatively new to the world of web design and had never seen Dreamweaver before, let alone known how to use it. I am only halfway through the book right now but I feel safe saying that it is an excellent book. It is well laid out and full of information including notes, tips, warnings, and other tidbits to keep you wanting more. I really enjoy this book and am already looking into getting other "Bible" books if they are near as good as this one. The only reason I gave the book 4 stars is that I haven't read any other books on Dreamweaver and I am new to the program. But if you are anything like me, it's definately deserving of 5 stars! Hope you enjoy it.

The only book for advanced Dreamweaver users
I have to give some kudos to the author before I present my review. I have a great deal of admiration for Joseph Lowery. At a time when computer book authors seem to be more consumed with churning out books that rarely go beyond the manuals that come with the programs, Joe is truly dedicated to what he writes about. Since publishing the first Dreamweaver Bible in 1998, he has been a constant contibutor to the Dreamweaver community. And through his Dreamweaver Bibles I have learned a great deal about this wonderful program. Thank you Joe!

Now for the review:

After spending the last two years making my copy of Dreamweaver 2 Bible dog-eared, I was expecting that Joe would merely update the book to include the new features of Dreamweaver 3, but he has gone much further and - except for a few minor details - written a new Bible. Like the previous versions, this book does an excellent job explaining Dreamweaver basics and shows how to extend Dreamweaver through behaviors, commands, and objects. But where this book excels is teaching experienced users advanced topics like how to create custom behaviors, behaviors, commands and how to get the most out of Dreamweaver's JavaScript API extensions and C-level libraries. If you are new to Dreamweaver, you might want to start with another book, like Dreamweaver for Dummies, which does a good job covering the basics. If you are casual Dreamweaver user and want to take your skills up a few notches, this is the only book to buy, and if you are a professional web designer, this book is a must have.

No Need To Read Further, Just Buy It Now !
For The Pros: If you have ever read a Lowery Bible (DW or Fireworks), you probably should have already added this version of the DW Bible to your shopping cart. If you intend to use DW for web development, I would suggest doing the same.

For Novices Only: First get a quickstart guide. I like Peachpit's Visual Quickstart Guide (VQS) series. It is easy to read and does what it says- bar none. Easy and quick to read, not too techie, and gets you comfortable using the tool.

However, DW is an incredible and powerful tool that requires a little more knowlege (OK for some tools- alot) to leverage its power in your favor. Therefore, I would strongly suggest a reference book as well (OK- if you worked for me- I would demand it). And as far as they go, it don't get any better'n this. Mr. Lowery has written all the DW and FW Bible series and there is a reason why: He does it very well. Also DW and FW are made to work together, so it is important to learn them together.

P.S. If you bought DW3, I hope you bought the DW3/ FW3 combo- well worth the little extra $$. I was a die hard Photoshop fan- Fireworks showed me the error of my ways. I strongly suggest the same series for Fireworks as well (VQS and Bible).

Good Luck and Enjoy! ;~)

Firstborn (The Elven Nation Trilogy, Volume One: Dragonlance)

One of the better Dragonlance books...
"Firstborn" is definately one of the better Dragonlance books out there. It is very slow during the beginning. Most of the book drags on, but the good thing is that it goes by quickly. The book isn't long, only around 300 pages. But the ending gets a lot better and sets up for much more action to come.

The book starts out with the birth of Kith-Kanan and Sithas. Sithas being the firstborn is destined to be the next Speaker of the Stars. The brothers have a bond that is almost unbreakable, and a love that is true. But when Kith does something that angers his family, he flees and meets friends in the outer woods. Here, he learns that life isn't the same as it is in the city of Silvanost. But, in desperate situations, Sithas calls his brother back to Silvanost and events begin to unfold that are beyond either of the twin's control.

While the book does start out slow, it is good enough to keep you reading. It is full of intrigue that most Dragonlance books are lacking in. I have read almost all of the DL books out there, and I can rate this one near the top of the list. If you can find it, it is a definate must!

An incredible tale of twins.
First thing I must say, I did not like the text on the back cover. If presented any opportunity at all to not read it, don't. I found myself 3/4 the way through the book and felt a lot of problems because of what it says.

This book is definitely one of the better dragonlance books. It tells the tales of waring nations, the undying love of twins, and the ancient forest of wildwood. Descriptions of this book are incredible, but there is not too much physical combat. If that's what you are looking for, read something else.

Love and tradition are important plots in the book. It starts with Kith-Kanan loving Hermathaya. However, Kith-Kanan's father, the speak of the stars, unknowningly choses Thaya to be the bride of Sithas, heir to the throne of Silvanost. Kith-Kanan begins a new life.

Definitely read this book after you have read the Chronicles and Legends. You will have a greater appreciation for the elven nations.

Excellent book
This is my favorite dragonlance book that was not written by Margaret Weis or Tracy Hickman, and I've read a lot of them(I have 103). This book was very well written. It's definately better than the other two in the trilogy. The short prelude in the beginning pulls you right into the book. I highly recommend this one!

Personality Type Works
Congratulations to the Tieger's. Their common sense in following the premise that people have individual personalities which influence relationship needs beyond gender is right on target. The research and conclusions drawn by the Tieger's provide the insight needed to answer many of the oversimplified gaps left by gender typing alone. The Tieger's have removed the obscurity, complication, and mystery from personality tests and brought them to the public in an easy to follow format. The book provides clear insight into the challenges and strengths of different relationship combinations and serves as a compass for finding the combination that suits you. Combine this book with their "Do What You Are" book and your life will feel like a fairy tale. Why? Because you will be living consciously and will understand your needs and desires and how to apply them in life. I have read through so many of the self-help books on relationships and making your dreams happen and no others have provided me with such clarity and concrete support.

Just Your Type
Just Your Type, the newest book written by Paul D. and Barbara Barron-Tieger, is a wonderful addition to their growing list of helpful books applying Personality Type theory to our personal lives. As a marriage and family therapist, I have recommended all of their books to my clients, family and friends and received very positive feedback.

I know that this newest book will be very helpful to many couples as they sort through relationship challenges. One of the important benefits of this approach is that it deepens understanding and awareness of human behavior, in a way that takes it out of a pathological framework. Further, the authors then give suggestions for alternative ways to respond to specific behaviors. I feel that it gives people a new, fresh perspective for looking at their problems, which then gives them hope for a solution. This is done in an easy to read, easy to understand style.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to deepen their understanding of their partner and their relationship.

Helps you understand all relationships, not just romantic
If you are into understanding yourself and your relationships with others, you will love this guide.

After decoding myself (ISTP), I decoded everyone I know well, and it helped me to understand how and why each of my relationships differ. I shared the book with my ESTP boyfriend and we laughed so hard we nearly cried, because the book described our relationship SO EXACTLY it was scary.

We all communicate and make decisions differently. This book explains how YOUR type and THEIR type interact, and how to avoid common pitfalls. It's not only helpful, but very eye-opening and fun.

Illuminating!
I never thought that I would read a military book, but on the suggestion of my fathr I picked up a copy of INTO THE GREEN and was blown away! The honest details about Cherokee McDonald's experience in Vietnam, while gory, helped me understand what a generation of men dealt with and what I will clearly never fully understand. Short and concise, this book is a must read for all young Americans who want to really know what fighting a war is all about.

Into the Green: A Reconnaissance by Fire
Cherokee Paul McDonald reached his hand into my gut with this incredible book. I was hesitant to buy it since the publisher is not known for publishing military history. And the cover art and design doesn't bespeak the contents of your typical Vietnam War memoir, as I'm used to seeing with publishers such as Ivy and Presidio. Was this another guilt-ridden confession of dark deeds committed during wartime? A Philip Caputo clone? Another "Suicide Charlie?" Future script material for Oliver Stone? Something the college pukes of the 60's could read and feel good about? Shame on me for waiting so long to get into it.

As I slipped into the green with McDonald, I found this memoir to be one of the most compelling Vietnam War books I've ever read, and I've read more than a few. Stange to say, it's not a page turner, unless you're turning back to re-read the vignette you've just finished. When you finish most of these stories, you don't immediately jump to the next. At least I didn't. I found myself sitting there semi-stunned, ruminating over what I had just been hit over the head with, savoring the imagery, turning back to sift through the author's finely wrought prose again.

The writing style and diction are superb. Reading this collection of stories is like being inserted into the green itself. You smell the smells, hear the sounds, see the sights. But beware! It can break your heart. I am not ashamed of the tears that flowed after having finished the final chapter. Man, it blew me away. I love how McDonald confronts the war journalist. In my view they were all rotten bastards. I love how he uncovers the vile self-righteousness of the anti-war maggots, like opening the lid of a trashcan to let the sun shine on a bevy of writhing fly larvae. I love how he rebukes the lying and duplicitous Wunderkind, MacNamara, a man who can never wash the blood from his hands no matter how many books he writes.

Buy this book and descend into the green with Cherokee Paul McDonald. It's a beautiful, hard-hitting read.

if you don't think you like books about war, think again
This is a great book because it takes a different approach from most war memoirs. Instead of giving a day-by-day recount of events, McDonald shares his experiences through short snapshots of episodes which are more easily digested than long winded narratives. He also includes simple and poignant details that allow the reader small insights into the emotional turbulence that affected everyone involved in Vietnam in a different way. If you don't think you like reading about war, try Into the Green. I think its humanity will appeal to most people, and it helped me gain a better understanding of a very misunderstood time in America's history.

Best PHP book I've seen yet!
In less than 300 pages, this book manages to explain the simpler concepts while not omitting the more advanced topics of PHP programming that aren't covered adequately in other books with over 1000 pages. If a PHP book gets into things like object oriented PHP, using multiple tables in your PHP/database projects, session management and even frequently overlooked things like foreach conditional statements, then it is worth considering. This book covers all that without being annoyingly verbose like so many other books. Topics that take 30 pages of excessive rambling in some books are concisely covered in several pages with diagrams of code to illustrate. I have over a half dozen books on PHP/MySQL and I find that this is the most useful and easy to understand and can be used as a tutorial and quick reference. This book is useful for both beginners and experienced programmers and really does lives up to its motto "Read Less, Learn More".

Great!
I am currently in college for computer programing and have read many books, some for college and some not. Between classes and homework time was a tight issue. Many books have alot of text, which can be hard to read all at once. With this book I could pick it up on any page that I was reading without having to backtrack and remember what has already been explained. This is extremly helpful because of the tight time. I am surprised how fast I learned the syntax of PHP, I think this was due to the pictures explaining how things work. And being able to take breaks inbetwen reading. I would recomend this book to anyone who wants to learn PHP, although the book is small, and doesn't have many pages do not be sceptical for it really is great. I also have the Visual Blue Print for mySQL which is what I will be reading next if it is as easy to read and learn as this one, I will be buying alot more "Visual Blue Print" books.

Great Learning Tool for PHP
I have purchased many books to learn new programming languages in my spare time. Most of them I got boared with that rambled on and on and didn't really help me much. I give this 5 stars because for a person with programming logic and some programming skill you can get a ton out of this book. This is the best programming tutorial I have ever read. I am a software programmer by trade so I have seen a lot of books. This book is right to the point with graphic examples and makes things so easy to understand. If you know a little bit about programming and want to pick up the PHP language this is a must have book. I am about 1/2 way through it right now and can't wait to get the time to finish it. All in all this is a must have book for Newbie PHP programmers to help get your feet wet in the PHP world. Great Job!

An excellent story of the human side of combat
Harold Coyle, a master of military fiction, has created yet another vivid and all too possible scenario: A reunited Germany with a fanatically anti-American chancellor has seized control of nuclear weapons, and intends not only to threaten Germany's neighbors but to humiliate the American army in the process. Not only does Germany intend to keep the nukes, but he intends to disarm the American Forces in Germany and send them home in disgrace. So, the commanding general of the American army in Germany decides to march through Germany to the sea, taking on anyone who stands in their way. Several characters from Coyle's previous books are back, including the irrepressible captain Nancy Kozak and the unforgettable Scott Dixon, as well as Ed Lewis, the former National Guardsman now congressman, and General "Big Al" Malin (all five foot three inches of him). Moving skillfully from the battlefields of the inner chambers of power within the two opposing governments to the actual battlefields on the plains of Germany, the triumphs, tragedies, and horrors of sustained modern armored combat are described in vivid and sometimes graphic detail. This book does an excellent job of putting a human face to a tale of modern warfare.

Another winner
The Ten Thousand returns author Harold Coyle to high-tech warfare since Bright Star. In it, the US with the cooperation of Russia confiscate nuclear weapons from a belligerent Ukraine. The weapons are then placed in Germany for safekeeping where a Chancellor sees the opportunity to steal them and threaten the world. Suddenly, Germany is not a good place for Americans to be in and they must fight their way and get the nukes back.

In this book, Coyle introduces even more women and in different aspects of the war. The infantry leader, medic, reporter/soldier's wife and the commander-in-chief. They are credited to giving a more humanizing effect on the male soldiers. It may not be realistic but it's definitely idealistic portrayal.

Most of the American characters are back. And for those who've read Coyle's previous books, it's a treat to see two Russian characters return. It's also interesting to see that a Russian finds himself in command of a group of American Rangers. The German characters could use some more depth however. None of them are very memorable unlike most non-American characters in previous books (except Bright Star). They're either against the war or are anti-American. I do wonder what Coyle thinks of the US military's future. In one chapter he mentions that the Airborne Division is being scrapped as part of the "new model Army". Yet, they are used in the book for a vital operation. A re-evaluation is sorely needed.

Overall, Harold Coyle has another winner.

Wow.
Most days, I don't think Harold Coyle could write his way through a Dick & Jane story.

But this time... wow. Taking some ancient Greek history and twisting it into a modern plot, Coyle has written one fine military page-turner. I dare ya not to laugh out loud when a German officer states, "My position has become untenable..."

Great stuff.

A classic Christmas story.
This children's book about a young angel in heaven has long been regarded as a classic. It is one of the all-time best sellers of children's books here in the U.S. The story was read over the radio and I heard it as a child in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The little angel, who is acting like all little boys, has to come up with a present for the newly born baby Jesus. It is a beautiful Christmas story and every mischievous boy can relate to this littlest angel. I really find it hard to understand to understand the comments of the 1998 reviewer from Oroville. All children who have to provide gifts for friends or relatives have a hard time coming up with ideas. The littlest angel is no different.

Beloved story
When I was a child I loved this story. The difficult language (see review below) didn't bother me. I think that it WAS written as a children's story and that back when it was written children accepted difficult language more easily than now. Today we underestimate the power of a child's mind and reasoning and we make the mistake of dumbing down literature and arts for children. But that's another issue..... Regarding the story - as I said, I loved the story as a child, never got the "theology" of this book confused with the theology I learned from church (As I remember it,I knew that people didn't really become angels - or if I thought that at the time I quickly lost that misconception as I became older.)
I picked the book up again as an adult (after not having read it for years) and found that the story now makes me cry.
This is an extremely heart wrenching story for adults, but a comforting one for children.

Touching - the child brings a gift we can all share
This is a poignant book for children who need to know that they and their selected possessions are special. It is a story to remind us all of what true gifts are.

It has been my favorite Christmas book for 50 years and I read it each Holiday season and never make it through without a few tears.

We all need to feel like a small clumsy child as we look at the new born King.

The End of the Glory...
Once the Dark Phoenix Saga concluded, the X-Men became a victim of their own success, as the sensational collaboration between Chris Claremont and John Byrne began to sag beneath the weight of the artists' egos. The stories became verbose and overwrought as ideas seemed to perpetually recycle, the art lost much of its previous verve, and the title generally settled into a long decline.

There remain some notable highlights in "Essential X-Men Vol. 3", however. The courtship of Dr. Doom and Storm is classic and totally unexpected. The story arc with Cyclops stranded on a desert isle housing his greatest foe is sensational, as is the appearance of Dracula (!). Unfortunately, these high points sink beneath the weight of drecch like Kitty Pryde's fairytale version of the X-Men and the touted return of Dark Phoenix.

If you're a true fan of the X-Men, you'll want this collection to avoid bending the corners of your precious back issues. Otherwise, grab the first two volumes of this series instead.

Excellent Stories and Art
...

"Mutant Genesis" reprints (in color, not b&w) the first seven issues of the second series X-Men (now renamed New X-Men) from 1991. Claremont writes the first three issues, and John Byrne and Jim Lee write the remaining four. Lee provides pencils for all.

The the 3-issue story "Rubicon" represents Claremont's finale as he left the series he'd written for 14 years and made the highest selling comic EVER. It ranks among his best writing (which is saying a lot). The story revolves around Magneto's quest for vengence against Charles Xavier and Moira MacTaggert, involving nearly thirty years of X-Men history, including the effects of the Holocaust, prejudice, nuclear proliferation, and the effects of anger on the human soul. Highly recommended.

If you enjoy this trade, I would recommend Claremont's work in:
"X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills"; "X-Men: Vignettes"; and the four volumes of Essential X-Men b&w reprints.
