Whiskers, My Cat

Delightful Tongue-Twister Children's Book
Schatz's book has Whiskers' owner explaining in rollicking, tongue-twister rhyme that Whiskers is a "most changeable cat," becoming "a peeker, a poker, a padded-paw pryer" or a "fire-eyed prowler," as the mood takes him. Paul Galdone's pictures are delightful, but the rhythm of the words is the captivating thing about this book. Young children will not know the meaning of all of them, but they WILL enjoy the alliterative sounds and the joyous pictures.

The Founding of the Great League of the Haudenosaunee
This is the story of the founding of the Great League of the Haudenosaunee "Iroquois", The Great Law of Peace, by the efforts of the Great Peacemaker and Hiawatha. The Tree of Peace is planted, the roots extending out to the four directions. Other Nations, those of good mind, who see it, may follow the roots back and take shelter under this tree. Each new nation adds a brace to the Longhouse & strengthens the edifice of Reason & Peace.
This composite narrative combines three written English versions of the oral tradition; The Newhouse, Chiefs & Gibson.

It is always a pleasure to read the truth
At first it may seem that the book is about Comparative Immigration Politics: after all, the main subject of the work is postwar immigration to the UK. That is only one side of the story. The most interesting part is the criteria by which British officials were desiding what race and skin color potential immigrants could ("should") have, and what could ("should") not.

One begings to think about the U.S. and its racial and ethnic preferences it used to have in its immigration policies. Did you think the U.S. was alone in its racial preferences? Read the book then!

Uproarious & hilarious, fast paced and lots of belly laughs.
This play is truly a COMEDY murder mystery. The characters are defenitly colorful and full of surprises. There's everyone from two young rebels with a cause to a pshycic who goes into trances and a GHOST. The cast consist of an eight year old little girl and a dozen other characters ranging from their early twneties on up. ?Who Dunnit? was first produced in Houston, Texas and has since played various theatres. The audiences have compared this play to "The Foreigner", "Lend Me A Tenor" and "Moon Over Buffalo" for it's vigor and surprise. Don't miss this one. Try to read it or see it.

Fantastic!
What a fantastic travel book! It is time to bring it into a second printing. I found this book on my husbands bookshelf, after he had passed away. My husband had similar travel experiences and life experiences through those travels, so it was a double blessing to find this book. I only wish more copies were available! I'd buy them for my friends. It was a real treat and treasure - a pleasure to read. Paul Zalis is a writer gifted in his description of the places he has been and the emotions and memories they evoke. Those on any journey - particularly one of self-discovery should enjoy reading this book. Thank you, Paul Zalis!

An Amazing Woman
This book starts out in Idaho. It's about a woman named Sacagawea, who was taken away from her family. A few of her friends left her. The men who came for her called her bird woman.
Sacagawea got married when she was 15 and had a baby. She guided Lewis and Clark across the Western United States. They had to map it out for Thomas Jefferson after the Lousianna Purchase. It took a long time for them to travel to the Pacific and back. She was a huge help to them because she knew what food was safe to eat and what to use for injuries, and helped communicate to the Native Americans they encountered along the way. Lewis and Clark and her took a ship to find here family and they did. Lewis shot himself. Sacagawea died in1896. I think another title for this book should be The Life About Sacagawea. I think she should have lived longer. I will like to tell people to read this book because it's a great educational book. The best part was when she had her baby. The part that I didn't like was when she died. She is a true American heroine.

Who We Are: Our Dignity As Human: A Neo-Evangelical Theology

One of the best recent works of Systematic Theology.
Marguerite Shuster has continued the compilation, editing, and additions to the late Paul K. Jewett's second work of Systematic Theology and presents a work which presents clear, deep and well-researched discussion of the most important issues of our time, including gender, homosexuality, abortion and marriage.

Although not widely promoted by the publisher, this work is a jewel in a world full of imposters. Not only do Jewett and Shuster seriously consider the Biblical and moral implications for the debates concerning our sexuality and public policy, they present arguments which lift the discussion from the realm of hostile argument, to true theological reflection.

I read this book for spiritual reflection, to learn more about the issues surrounding the soundbites, and for a historical perspective on current debates. I think every pastor, professor and educated christian should read and digest this work. It is a travesty that not more copies have been sold. BUY IT!! READ IT! Send it to someone you love! You will be giving them a gift.

Avoid Debacles
If we can accept Microsoft's statistic that more than 74 percent of the projects undertaken by business are behind schedule or result in failure, costing more than $74 billion a year, then this book is a bargain.

Ohio State University Professor Paul C. Nutt, who has spent more than 20 years studying how decision are made, says failures can be traced to three blunders and seven traps. Avoiding the blunders and the traps they set will cut one's failure rate significantly.

The blunders to avoid:
•Failure-Prone Practices
•Premature Commitments
•Wrong-Headed Investments.

These blunders lead unsuspecting managers into seven ensnaring traps:
•Failure to Reconcile Claims
•Failure to Manage the Forces Created by a Decision
•Ambiguous Directions
•Limited Search with No Innovation
•Misuse of Evaluation
•Avoidance of Ethic Questions
•Failure to Learn.

Sounds simple; yet anyone who has participated in a project recognizes these blunders and traps. In fact, most of us could supply the author with reams of case studies to add to the ones he uses to illustrate his points.

This is a great book and should be read by project managers and corporate managers alike. Microsoft's number may seem high, but there is no doubt we participate in too many projects that spiral behind schedule and over-budget. Good decision making techniques can only help improve our results.

Educational
This book explains about how the human body deals with reflexes. It gets a little technical, but a four or five year old can definately understand the content. I enjoyed reading this book to my children because even I learned a little that I either had not learned or had forgotten.
