An exellent and entertaining book - I enjoyed it very much

This book can be purchased from the United States Air Force Museum bookstore in Dayton, Ohio. I found a copy there - that was actually autographed by Paul Tibbetts himself!

Lots of info!!!

Having recently moved to Florida from New York, I wanted to take the time to explore a little but didn't know where to start. This book does a good job of describing the many different areas to see and things to do all over the state. Good maps and brght pictures are all through the book. Now I have plenty of places I want to go see if I could only find the time........

Thorough treatment of a powerful software technique.

Morrison's book is an excellent treatment of the subject. It presents the ideas of flow-based programming giving a historical perspective, and discussing the power of this technique for development of commercial applications.

A way in to Dogen, by a modern Zen master.

I practice Zen and have always gotten the feeling that I'm supposed to find Dogen's writing poetic and wise, but I've mainly found it to be obtuse, paradoxical gobbledy-gook, and I'm suspicious that many who rave about Dogen don't actually understand him either. This book helped me to see that Dogen may actually deserve his reputation as THE master of Soto Zen. The commentator, Yasutani Roshi, is perhaps best known for his classic introductory lectures on Zen training in "The Three Pillars of Zen." If you've ever wondered what the heck you think you're trying to do on that zafu, when the whole point is that you already HAVE the buddha nature, you might find this helpful. I liked Yasutani's attention to the tensions between Rinzai and Soto approaches to Zen (with some pointed scolding of the Soto folks) and the relationship between practice and enlightenment. I highly recommend this for folks who've been practicing Zen for a while and want a taste of Dogen.

Great Summer Read

Lonely orphan boy escapes from institution

Paul is a boy on the edge of adolescence, troubled that he's an orphan living in an uncaring institution for boys. He's not loved, not wanted, and not cared for. His only escape is in solitary sex, a few minutes respite from a bleak and desperate existence. The other boys engage in brutal relationships, for which Paul has no taste.

Symbolic of the early 1970's, when institutionalization was the norm, the novel reflects the worst of institutionalized child care.

Paul escapes, for a twisted life of freedom yet one just as hard as the one he left. He's searching for freedom, as well as to belong to someone, to love and be loved. This is a hard tale of growing up. A book for all those who would love a boy, and hate their brutal treatment.
