I find this book really excellent. It gives a masterly
written introduction to all the most fundamental mathematical
methods in quantum optics. The concepts are introduced very
carefully, all the passages are explained in full detail, and
the discussion is very thorough throghout the book.
The authors gradually and clearly introduce the main
mathematical objects always relating them to basic
interactions and physical situations.
Special care is dedicated to the discussion of the basic
quantum states, number, thermal, coherent and squeezed.
Atomic coherent states and multimode extensions are discussed
as well. In each instance, simple Hamiltonian models
giving rise to the fundamental quantum states are
introduced and analysed in detail; among others,
I find excellent the detailed analysis devoted to the Jaynes--Cummings model, the beam splitter,
and the squeezing Hamiltonian.
Quite a substantial part of the book is dedicated
to the discussion of the statistical properties of the
electromagnetic field, in particular the
characteristic functions
and their associated quasiprobability distributions.
I believe that this book will be very useful both as
an introductory textbook for graduate and advanced
undergraduate students, as well as a reference book
for professionals working in the field of quantum optics
and basic quantum mechanics.

Sample questions are divided into separate topics that clearly help the candidate focus on expanding his or her knowledge base. There is a full length sample test at the end of the book that accurately simulates the testing situation.

This is the essential starting point for anyone interested in learning economics. The authors start at the very beginning and work through every aspect of microeconomics by developing a very clear model, and punctuating it with real world examples and historical anecdotes.

I am a corporate instructor, and have viewed many training products for Windows based applications. This is by far the best I have ever seen. The book includes a CD-ROM that contains all the exercises in the book, both those used as you go through each chapter, and the ones at the end of each chapter. Everything is illustrated and described in detail, so there is no guessing what your next step is when walking through an exercise. However, the author avoids "overkill", so even someone who has never used Excel could follow this book. I highly recommend this book, either to individuals looking to improve their Excel skills, or to other corporate trainers who want a resource available that users can work through at their own pace.

If you use Front Page 2002 to create websites and are not sure you're getting all that you can out of the software, you probably aren't. This book will teach it to you. This book is a great teaching tool. It teaches almost everything about qbasic exept graphics. I had used this book in high school and is the best book I have ever used.

If you are a developer that has a basic knowledge of SQL Server 2000 or a novice this book is the book for you. Each section is explained so easily you know how to do it with out even testing it out on the software. Very well written! I am only on page 137 and already I have doubled my knowledge about what SQL Server 2000 has to offer.

I really quite liked this book compared to a lot other books I have purchased and used for both home and business use. It avoids repeating information just to fill up pages and some of the tips are ones I have not seen in other books. The language is clear and easy to follow even for my non computer literate friends and associates which is of course the true test of a books usefulness. I am a tech and learned some useful tips on reclaiming valuable screen real estate and how to layout my desktop more efficiently. I do have the other "Inside Out" books but this one gets the edge for being written for everyone. Job well done!

This is a very cool book.The author of this book however is from England and spells words differently from americans.Like 'organize'we spell is w/ a z and she spells it w/ an s.Other than that it is very cool.

I wasn't sure I'd like a book about monkeys, but this book is exciting and funny. And it makes you think about how people treat animals. I would recommend this book to anyone over 10.
