Experimental Design with Applications in Management, etc.
I have found this book for all that I have read (about half of it) extremely useful for my PhD research work. The lessons are lucid. The exercises first ground your basics firmly then challenge your understanding of the fundamental concepts. Many of the questions are designed keeping in mind so many confounding little situations that we face often in the real world of experimenting. The text and questions, in short, prepare you for the 'real world' of experimenting.

Must reading for sequence stratigraphers,
The title may be slightly misleading and even off-putting but do not put down this book. The authors summarize several years of research done at Colorado State University. This reasearch has allowed them to develop some powerful process models which explain the evolution of fluvial systems over time. These models, while derived from flume work, apply well to the real world. Observations discussed and inferences put forth by the authors have been documented in the field by researchers for companies such as Exxon. They fit quite well with the sequence stratigraphic ideas found in the professional literature published by AAPG and SEPM (to name a few). Every geologist who wishes to become a competent stratigrapher should read this book. A great follow-up to Schumm's earlier book 'The Fluvial System.' CJ

Scotty's Castle VR Tour is Wonderful!
I ordered "Explore Scotty's Castle in Virtual Reality
by Paul Fretheim", after I viewed a television program about the castle on the Travel Channel. Since I'll soon be building a home in the Spanish Colonial style, I am always looking for inspiration through magazines and books. When I received the Scotty's Castle CD, I sat down in front of my computer with a cup of tea and toured each room in virtual reality. It is so entirely wonderful. I really felt as though I was there. Several days later, the Travel Channel aired the same program again, and I felt like I was viewing it from the eyes of someone who had actually been there. Thank you, Paul Fretheim! You should create more of the VR tour CD's of other glorious estates.

Highly recommended for both school and community libraries

An important book
It is hard to say "I love this book" because what it describes is so terrible. But it gives voice to the people who were in Derry on January 29, 1972 and allows them to describe in their own words how it came to pass that the British Army opened fire on a civil rights march, killing 14 people. This book, and its editor, share a great deal of the credit for reopening the official inquiry into the events of Bloody Sunday and causing the British government to at last take a long, hard look at whether this terrible event ever should have happened.

Captivating images
This book, like all those in this DK series, contains images that are absolutely captivating to children from preschool upwards--and to adults as well. The images speak volumes about the growth of plants. It's a fascinating and useful reference book for children.

For anyone with an intrest in military aviation, this book written by Paul Crickmore and Alison Crickmore, is a definite addition to your collecton that has to be made. F-117 covers the entire history of the Stealth fighter, from original designs to Desert Storm and beyond. Throughout the book are hundreds of fantastic photos that can only be found in this book. With exciting narratives from the pilots who flew the first raids over Baghdad to the first test pilots who flew the aircraft over the deserts of Nevada. F-117 is the most comprehensive book on the aircraft and is a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. Aviation books don't come any better than this.
