The best book for Anesthesia ambulatory
this is an excellent book, which would be a worthwhile addition to one's personal library and should be available to others involved in anesthesia care in the ambulatory area. At the very least, the book should be in the library of every ambulatory unit, where it can be readily available. The book will be frequently used. It is well written, with some novel approaches to the presentation of the material. There is something for everyone with an interest in this expanding field of patient care.

American Art Songs Of the Turn Of the Century
This music book is a fine resource for the student or teacher looking for hard to find music in the English lang. For this reason I belive the High School Teacher or Student would find this book very usefull. There is a nice selection to choose from, with many different composers. The variety of music is also large, having light-hearted,as will as the more serious. I would also recommend this book to the person interested in early popular songs of eary 1900, as Art songs and popular songs were often one and the same.

Another Good Book
In his first book "An American Bible", Dr. Paul Gutjahr examines the effects of the changing nineteenth century print marketplace on the "good book." With ample references, both period and contemporary, and many helpful illustrations, "Bible" tracks American Bible production from 1777 until 1880 with an eye toward material conditions (price, binding, production and distribution, use/absence of illustrations and commentary, and forms of presentation). He also considers the effect of such conditions (as well as doctrinal, philological, and apologetic controversies) on the Bible's visibility, authority and popularity in America. Highly readable and informative for readers interested in religion, literacy, or popular culture.

A Fishing Journey: Colonial America to the 21st Century
As one casts for trout with a modern high-tech rod, line, leader and one of the zillion fly patterns now available, it is easy to forget how far we have come in the 250 or so years that fly fishing has been practiced in North America, and yet how little things have really changed in terms of the techniques used, concepts of what constitutes necessary equipment, and the attitude of serious endeavor that pervades all aspects of fly fishing. Paul Schullery has complied an exhaustive volume that takes the reader from old world origins of the sport and how they influenced Colonial American fishing, and in particular, fly fishing,to the advances in tackle and techniques during the Victorian era, and finally to our modern practices. The reproductions of portraits and early prints, the quotations from period news sources, journals and books, and the high-quality photographs of the flys, rods and reels from the early 1800's and thereafter make this book a source of great value to anyone specifically interested in fly fishing as a sport, and the developing history of fishing and fly fishing in North America from the time of the first Europeon contact, in Colonial America, and thereafter. It shows, in the final analysis, that despite the high-tech materials we now expect when we purchase rods, reels and related fly fishing equipment, our forefathers, with their spliced rods, wenches, and horse hair lines, would have well understood the how and the why of fly fishing as now practiced, and that in some respects, they were closer to such truth as may exist in this never ending pursuit with a fly for trout and lesser fish, than we might have anticipated.

Deftly written, thoroughly researched, & highly recommended
An American Musical Dynasty: A Biography Of The Wolle Family Of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania by music historian and educator Paul S. Larson (Professor Emeritus, Moravian College, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) is a unique and fascinating historical examination and history of the Wolle family whose influential and enduring musical tradition was founded in the American colonial era of the 1700's. The rise of their music intertwined with the Moravian Church tells the history of the Moravian culture, as well as that of a very fine style of exquisite concert music. An American Musical Dynasty is a deftly written, thoroughly researched, and highly recommended biographical saga tracing family, music, faith, and way of life throughout centuries of American history.

Color the flowers, don't pick them.
Dover flower coloring books are hard to beat. Inexpensive & accurate, they are ideal for older children & adults & well-suited for a set of colored pencils rather than crayons. American Wild Flowers would please even Ladybird Johnson.

In the tradition of Byron and Stoker
I love vampire literature and movies, and there is quite a lot in that subgenre, but much of it is bad. And I love poetry. And i love literature and literary theory. But to be honest, I didn't expect much out of Paul Lake's novel. It calls itself a _literary_ vampire mystery, which is a bit pretentious (and Lake is known as a critic an poet, not a fiction writer). I thought anything that bills itself as a literary vampire story...well, let's just say I didn't expect much out of it. And pleasantly, I was surprised (though I shouldn't have been, Lake writes well-done and interesting essays, and he has a knack for the narrative poem, so I know he can tell a good story). It's a well written story with believable characters (half the fun is guessing who the characters are in real life--and believe me, you can recognize many of the poets within) and a well thought out plot. It even has a nice twisted surprise ending. The only gripe I have is that Lake spends too much time complaining about the state of contemporary poetry and how our poets are 'treated' (sometimes I got the impression that he only wrote the novel so he could complain about what all poets already know..and already comlain about). Other than that you get an interesting story that blends poetry, criticism, literary history, and vampires into a great novel (had one of the big publishing companies released this book instead of Story Line Press, more people might be familiar with the book, but unfortunately Story Line, great press that it is, has never had the money to set forth much of an advertising or publicity campaign).
