An Enjoyable Armchair Journey
An insightful glimpse into a quaint and beautiful land...the author provides a solid basis for exploration, and manages to capture the soul of a changing land and it's people. The photographs alone will make you add Yorkshire to your list of must-see places....see the town where the Bronte sisters wrote and lived, churches that date back to the 16th century, and seaside villages that were pillaged by vikings. Don't just put this book on your coffee table!

Stunning black and white masterpiece
Published in 1979, Yosemite and the Range of Light is 116 impressive prints demonstrating the mastery of Ansel Adams. The book contains poster classics like "Clearing Winter Storm, Yosemite Valley, 1944, Moon and Half Dome, Yosemite Valley, 1960, and Winter Sunrise, Sierra Nevada, from Lone Pine, 1944." Non students of Mr. Adams will discover many "unseen" photographs that are beautiful in their own right but did not have the mass-market appeal of his classics. Too valuable to be a coffee table book, this collection is the archetype for fine art books. My copy is a family treasure.

Practical Help for Parents of ADD Kids
This was the best book on ADD my wife and I have read. It not only explained ADD in understandable terms, it also provided us with practical ways to help our child succeed at school, at church, and in society. We appreciated the examples given because they enabled us to explain our situation to others in ways that help others (family and friends) to understand that ADD is not a curse and that an ADD child is not damaged goods. This is a must-read for anyone related in any way to someone with ADD.

A Recovery MUST READ
Dr. Paul is known throughout the recovery world for his story in the Big Book of AA. This wonderful book extends his philosophy of acceptance to new levels and is a true "must read" for anyone in a 12 Step program. It is the difinitive work on emotional recovery and in relationships with others. Dr. Paul's humor shines through solid experiene, strength and hope, and suggestions for coping with life and life's terms. If you liked "There's More to Quitting Drinking Than Quitting Drinking", you'll love "You Can't Make Me Angry." Dr. Paul was my sponsor for ten years and so much of the way he lived is in this book, completed just months before his untimely death in 2000. Pick it up and you won't be able to put it down!

Very Informative and Interesting...
My grandmother was married to Harry Young. After she passed away is when we really found out about him from letters, pictures, and newspaper clippings that she had. We had alot of questions and finding/reading this book answered alot of them. It is a great book.

Your Code Name Is Jonah (Choose Your Own Adventure)

One of the best
This was the first Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book that I everread, when my older brother brought it home from elementary school. After samping a large number of the series, it remains among the best.

Even at a young age, my brother and I recognized the sheer number of kitschy lines invading this book. It had us in stitches, and I'm certain if either of us mentioned the title, we'd begin to recount our favorites. One that sticks in my head:

"'I guess we can't count on you for anything, Jonah, so we'll have to count you out...' Those are the last words you ever hear."

Ah, yes, the plot has something to do with your being a secret agent who has to save the whales. But who ever EXACTLY cared about the plots? It was all a matter of racing through the book to figure out every possible twist. Who can forget the hand-wringing tension of deciding which of four or five different spots would be the best to swim to? Or whether to secretly break into the bad guys rendez-vous house, or simply knock at the front door and bluff your way in? The KGB figures in somewhere, and all the villains are ridiculous Russian stereotypes (who look in the illustrations, if I remember correctly, oddly similar to Stalin, Kruchschev, etc.). This surely did derive from the collective Cold War imagination. I believe Trotsky is even mentioned by name, totally out-of-place, showing a complete disregard for not mixing up the historical facts in young children's brains.

Oh, the flood of nostalgia! Of course, the copy my brother and I had eventually became so worn out, it had to be disposed of, and I've never seen another edition. If I ever found it in a used bookstore, I'd pay the price. But does anyone else remember this classic piece of camp? E-mail me, we'll rap about the glory days of the strange series, and its wonderful seventh volume.

Have fun observing.
My five year old is intrigued by this book. Although the book suggests using a magnifying glass to do so, the observations it asks the reader to make can largely be done by the eye. I read it to him at night and, lying in bed, he and I look at our own skins and spot the similarities and differences in a gentle game of observation. It encourages the act of looking at the familiar with a new and curious eye. And the information it gives is solid and uncondescending.

This book is fantastic!
This book is a must have for anyone who is going to be a youth dramics director and for church libraries. This book has great insight. It tells how to put on plays from groups who cannot afford costumes and or props to those who can. This book covers all areas of youth dramatics, and even includes skits. Also, this book contains all resources needed for finding what one needs for their youth dramatics program.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is going to be the director of youth dramatics in a church!
