a Book about Politics
This really is a book about the political implications of Islam, not about the religion itself. Despite the perhaps misleading title, however, this is an excellent book as the editor presents an unbiased comparison of the views of people who are themselves just the opposite.
An excellent reference for opposing arguments on Islam
This compilation of opposing viewpoints is a superb collection that presents diametrical stances on a controversial and misunderstood religion, movement and culture. As an adherent to Islam and a curious seeker of information, I highly recommend this book for anyone who truly desires to know more about the positions authority and other respective individuals have on Islam as well as the possible arguments that can be utilized or defended
Island Alphabet: An ABC of Maine Islands
Published in Hardcover by Down East Books (November, 1995)
Amazon base price: $15.95
Average review score:
A delightful, New England-inspired children's book.
This beautifully illustrated book is a fun read for both parent & child. It is well-researched, and would make an excellent gift.
A Unique Book
This book was very unique and interesting. As a teacher, I use it in the classroom to explain couplets during my poetry unit. I also talk about illustrators and the Caldecot award. I feel strongly that Kelly Paul Briggs will be a Caldecot winner in the future. The one critique that I have is that a map would have been helpful in being able to visualize the many islands off the coast of Maine.

Nice variety
I was impressed by the variety in these stories. Some of them are only meant to be light entertainment, but others like "Jack Be Quick" and "The Favor" really get to you. I especially liked "Scat" -- which uses the title word in four different meanings.
A good collection
These are superior stories, and they're all different. She can make you laugh in one story and give you chills in the next. The title novella is a fantastic piece of writing.
The Jack the Ripper

Essential for the Ripperologist Inside Us All
Jack the Ripper (Letters From Hell), by co-authors Stewart P. Evans and Keith Skinner, is exactly what it purports to be in the subtitle. It is a discussion of all the letters sent by people purporting to be Jack the Ripper to the newspapers, police and assorted individuals followed by a section printing all of the letters in the police files (there is little variety in the letters themselves showing the lack of imagination shown by most of the copy cat letter writers and this could prove a little dry for some). In addition, this volume is generously filled with photos of the letters themselves. This book is not for the beginner in the Ripper mythology as it focuses strictly on the letters and will be of most interest to those who have a basic understanding of the case already. This volume is a worthy addition to the Ripper books and will keep the legend alive for the next generation.
The best book of the year, the century even?
This book was fantastic. Where at first there was some kind of, irratic, and clouded judgement, but then the book sheds some light on the hard issues of the ripper case.
The victims... the suspects...
This book is amazing.
But i dont want to spoil the ending. Enjoy.

Java Multimedia Cyber Classroom
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (April, 1900)
Amazon base price: $75.00
Average review score:
Very good start to Java programming
This book is the best beginning book on Java that I've seen. There is a second edition out that covers the new event model. I wish more advanced concepts such as beans (and other 1.1 concepts) were covered in either this or the 2nd edition. All in all, a very good basic book -- this is the book I recommend to people just starting out.
The future is here!
The book is excellent, but the Cyber Classroom pushes it to the next level. Surely this is the future of instruction! I am a physicist who is switching to a career in programming and I have seen teaching at its worse and driest. The Cyber Classroom is a breath of fresh air.

Hard, but good if you like existentialism.
The selections in this book are very good, but unless you're up for a little bit of a challenge this book isn't for you. There were an excessive amount of typos, but that is bearable. The first and last thirds of the book were most down to earth. I would strongly recomend reading some commentary along with this, though not having read any on Sartre myself I can't recommend any. There's a good chance I will re-read this book again in the future, particularly as I now want to take a class in existentialism this fall. Really, the only drawback was how hard and next to incomprehensible the reading was at times, which is typical of philosophy. I don't even agree with most of what I read, but I still value the struggle to understand it.
an excellent selection
As far as collections of Sartre's philosophical works go, this one is the best I've come across. The book is broken down into sections such as "Existentialism", "The Other", "Nothingness", "Politics", and so on. 16 chapters in all, each offering key excerpts from Sartre's entire corpus, especially focused on a specific philosophical matter. The editor, Stephen Priest, does a good job of introducing each chapter and his contributions offer excellent insight both to those who haven't gotten too far into Sartrean philosophy as well as those of us who occasionally need a refresher course. This book reminds me of why I first got interested in reading Sartre. It brings out the exciting spirit of Existentialist philosophy by focusing on the most poignant passages of Sartre's works. I do feel the book to be a bit pricey for a paperback, but all in all it is a rather aesthetically pleasing book. The binding and layout are high quality, as is usual for Routledge texts. Also, this book offers the complete "Existentialism and Humanism" lecture, including transcript of a question and answer forum which you will not find in most editions. Priest also does a decent job of providing biographical information in the chapter "Sartre in-the-world."

Great book leaves some info out otherwise Really Good
Book leaves some information that you would like to know out but otherwise gives good information about ships used and the Jedi Knights trained in the book's.
Excellent
I'm running a game right now where the character wants to go to Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy. This book told me what I needed to know about the academy, and also gave me some other stuff I wanted (such as new force powers).

Jeff Gordon: Star Race Car Driver
As an avid fan of Jeff Gordon's - this book was very enjoyable. This book is great for new fans of Jeff Gordon's or even the younger fans. The book was easy to read and understand and is a fast read.
A few of the racing terms are used incorrectly, but all an all this is a VERY Good book.
Gordon Book a Smash for Steenkamer
Read this book cover to cover. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Quite a book by Steenkamer. Look forward to the next one!

Great gay drama
Tragi-comedy (a lot of comedy) which is better read, for once, than seen. A master of the genre, a recommended text.
AWESOME! One of the greatest gay plays!
Paul Rudnick, author of the In & Out movie, wrote this great play a while ago, yet it is still powerful today. Jeffrey has been made into a movie (and seeing Patrick Stewert as a homosexual has got to be experienced!), and this is the script. I am going to be putting on this play later this year. Kudos to Paul!!

This is a collection of articles
This book is a collection of articles and excerpts from many of the main sources of Jewish History from the 1700's until present. The articles are grouped by topic. The topics start with emancipation and end off with Zionism and the Holocaust. Each article has a nice mini-biography at the end telling who the author of the article was ( or is ), and includes explanatory notes for those who aren't familiar with that era of Jewish History. The editors were quite even handed and give all sides space in their book, the only group over represented is converted Jews. After all less than .25% of all Jews converted in the 1800's. My only complaint is that they neglected two subjects. One, the Tshuva movement of the 70's to present and also the Shas phenamana of the 80's and 90's.
Filled with great articles
You needn't read this book cover to cover. The book is a series of articles starting in the 1600's and progressing to recent times. Gives perspectives of people "dealing" with the Jews and perspectives of Jewish people. An article by the commandant of Auschwitz is followed by an article from a prisoner. Both will stay with me forever.
