Once you know the type of giver you are the authors lead through several ways to change your giving patterns to ones that are more holistic in nature. Give authentically, give from the heart, give wholly, but learn where you have to draw the line so that you can continue to give in the future. In a society where we are taught that to give to yourself is selfish many people find it hard to take care of their own spiritual and emotional needs, but if we don't then our value to others is decreased. It is only by taking care of ourselves that we are able to truly help others. This is the basic message of "Give to Your Heart's Content" and it couldn't be more true. Highly recommended reading.
The world needs more journalists of Mr. Ansah's caliber particularly here in the USA. For example you can get more better news in satellite tv in Africa than you can from talking heads here. Totally shamefull.
Somebody should reprent Going To Town in the US or UK.
PAVA was a well-known Ghanaian newspaper columnist (The Ghanaian Chronicle) nicknamed the "Monday Morning Terror" until his death in 1993. Highly respected, he was known as a defender of democracy, human rights and freedom of the press, who demonstrated the power of the pen, with fiery, thought-provoking and pungent discussions of issues. Resilient and bold, he dared to proclaim the 'unspeakable' in an era of suppressed and oppressed press freedom. He was a Professor of French, taught journalism and communication, and was editor of The Legon Observer, and Wonsuom, a rural newspaper in Fanti.
I used to think I was in good shape and that golf specific physical training would be marginally helpful at best. I'm learning that this is a much bigger piece of the performance puzzle than I originally thought. BTW, most golf pros aren't very saavy about this facet of the game (even some with great reputations).
The mental game is also important, but you need a body that can respond to the requests your mind gives it. I don't know of a better book out there that so intelligently prepares the most important piece of golf equipment you have - your body - for optimal performance. You'll also be surprise at how much more confidence you'll have when you've conditioned yourself to swing in a more powerful and efficient manner.
This book is well written with very clear explainations around the principals or the 'why' behind the programs. There are also a lot of good pictures and accompanying explainations that clearly illustrate how each exercise should be performed.

Jeffers and Gordon start their history with the original tobacco lovers, the indigenous people of the Americas. Then they discuss the introduction and development of tobacco in Europe and the New World. Jeffers and Gordon acquaint us with many of the people who have influenced our image of cigars (Mark Twain, Groucho Marx, Ernest Hemingway, etc.) and give quotation buffs a nice supply of material. From the "Wooden Indian" to cigar boxes and bands, they explore the history and artistry of cigar paraphernalia.
The authors include a cigar index complete with their personal ratings of each cigar. The book shows its age here, as some of the cigars are no longer sold. This doesn't necessarily detract from the book. You just might run into somebody who's had a box aging for several years and is willing to trade a few sticks. In a situation like this, an older index of cigars would be helpful.
Jeffers and Gordon also cover humidors, cutters, and lighters. They even include a resource guide. These sections might lead the cigar neophyte to believe that cigar smoking is a costly pursuit, but this doesn't have to be the case. Less expensive and perfectly functional accessories are readily available; but as Winston Churchill warned, "Shoddiness can be found easily, in quantity" (I got that from this book). Choose carefully. There are several Internet message boards devoted to cigars that would be more helpful than this book in finding accessories that fit your taste and budget.

From the academic perspective Paul Hodkinson attempts to disprove post-modern claims that media and commerce break down substantive cultural groupings. It covers UK Goth from the mid to late 90's, concentrating on the Birmingham, Plymouth and Leeds area, where 72 interviews were conducted, with over a hundred people completing a Whitby questionnaire.
Although an insider, he has the ability to stand back, and show an overview. As well as examining what Goth means to participants of the scene, Paul asks how strong the sense of the individual is, how consumerism is demonstrated, and the negative or positive aspects involved. He establishes the sense of belonging, as well as the contradiction of open-mindedness set against the occasional feelings of superiority. He covers many areas including shared identity and the chosen elements to Subcultures (Identity, Commitment, Consistent distinctiveness, Autonomy) and the emergence and development of Style, as well as online community. It isn't warts and all, but there are a few minor skin rashes, as he gets interesting responses/admissions from people in his study.
He may often write in a way which anyone hoping for a jolly read will not find easy, but anyone seeking some depth with find their faith amply rewarded. He examines the substance, so if you're interested in more than the surface this will be of great interest.
