Pony Pals #13
This is a great book. Lulu Sanders's father went out to study bears and the couple he was going with had a daughter named Melissa who came to stay at the Sanders house while they were gone. To the Pony Pal's dismay, she cared about nothing but makeovers, manicures, and other things like that. They wanted to convince her that ponies were important, beautiful, and fun to ride. Can they change Melissa's mind? You'll have to read The Girl Who Hated Ponies to find out. I hope you found my reveiw helpful.

A very good book!!!!!!
I really like the pony pals even though I'm 12.Its very good and shows about frinedship and teamwork.A very good book. And how could someone be afraid of gentle Snow White???????

The Handbook for People who are Givers
"Give to Your Heart's Content: Without Giving Yourself Away" is one of the best books available on the subject of giving. Continuous giving without taking time for yourself leads to exhaustion, frustration, and burnout. The book has some self-assessment exercises that can be used to help determine the type of giver you are. Do you give expecting something in return or do you give without expecting reciprocation? Do you take on more than you can do because you find it difficult to say "no"? Do you give so that you will be recognized for your giving or do you give silently without requiring recognition for your gift?
Once you know the type of giver you are the authors lead through several ways to change your giving patterns to ones that are more holistic in nature. Give authentically, give from the heart, give wholly, but learn where you have to draw the line so that you can continue to give in the future. In a society where we are taught that to give to yourself is selfish many people find it hard to take care of their own spiritual and emotional needs, but if we don't then our value to others is decreased. It is only by taking care of ourselves that we are able to truly help others. This is the basic message of "Give to Your Heart's Content" and it couldn't be more true. Highly recommended reading.

Balance between sacrifice and a healthy, well-adjusted life
Give To Your Heart's Content Without Giving Yourself Away by clinical psychologist and workshop leader Linda R. Harper is a practical-minded, "user friendly" book specifically written for volunteers, caregivers, and workers in social services. Focusing on how giving affects one personally, and finding balance between sacrifice and a healthy, well-adjusted life, Give To Your Heart's Content Without Giving Yourself Away is a powerful testimony and guide to enriching one's life without becoming a martyr, and very highly recommended for the non-specialist general reader undertaking a responsibility for the well-being of another individual as a caregiver or volunteer.

Going to Town: The Writings of P.A.V. Ansah
Published in Hardcover by Ghana Universities Press (January, 1996)
Author: Paul Ansah
Amazon base price: $

Write-and-be damned
was the hallmark of P.A.V. Ansah according to his editors. Not having lived through coup dictator times I deferr to their authority.

The world needs more journalists of Mr. Ansah's caliber particularly here in the USA. For example you can get more better news in satellite tv in Africa than you can from talking heads here. Totally shamefull.

Somebody should reprent Going To Town in the US or UK.

Incredible Collection of his articles
A very provocative and interesting assessment of the Ghanaian/African condition in the scope of global politics. The book is a collection of articles by P. A. V. Ansah (PAVA as he was known), and are grouped under the headings of Media, Politics, Society, and International. Critiques and tasty satires of policies and processes shaping life in Ghana, political struggles and life in general. Topics range from IMF policies and the African continent, Education in Ghana, and the 1992 presidential elections in Ghana. His wit and humor shine through his anecdotes and jokes, keeping the reader highly amused and yet well informed on subjects in question.

PAVA was a well-known Ghanaian newspaper columnist (The Ghanaian Chronicle) nicknamed the "Monday Morning Terror" until his death in 1993. Highly respected, he was known as a defender of democracy, human rights and freedom of the press, who demonstrated the power of the pen, with fiery, thought-provoking and pungent discussions of issues. Resilient and bold, he dared to proclaim the 'unspeakable' in an era of suppressed and oppressed press freedom. He was a Professor of French, taught journalism and communication, and was editor of The Legon Observer, and Wonsuom, a rural newspaper in Fanti.

The best golf training book on the market !!
This is far and away the best resource I have seen for training golfers. I have looked and researched just about every book out there on this subject(golf) and there isn't anything that comes close to matching the quality of this book. Well written and most importantly, based on scientific principles. My is advice is to save your money(unlike me) and buy this book first. You'll be very glad you did.

For golfers who want to be great and won't settle for 'good'
I got this book through inter-library loan because it's a little pricy, but I'll probably buy it in the future. I currently play to a 6 hdcp (continuing to fall from 11 over the last 3 seasons) and have a huge golf library and think that this is one of the better books I've read.

I used to think I was in good shape and that golf specific physical training would be marginally helpful at best. I'm learning that this is a much bigger piece of the performance puzzle than I originally thought. BTW, most golf pros aren't very saavy about this facet of the game (even some with great reputations).

The mental game is also important, but you need a body that can respond to the requests your mind gives it. I don't know of a better book out there that so intelligently prepares the most important piece of golf equipment you have - your body - for optimal performance. You'll also be surprise at how much more confidence you'll have when you've conditioned yourself to swing in a more powerful and efficient manner.

This book is well written with very clear explainations around the principals or the 'why' behind the programs. There are also a lot of good pictures and accompanying explainations that clearly illustrate how each exercise should be performed.

A wonderful read for the cigar enthusiast
The Good Cigar is to your brain as your tobacconist's walk-in humidor is to your nose. It's a cornucopia of history, anecdotes, and general cigar lore that makes you want to relax and stay a while.

Jeffers and Gordon start their history with the original tobacco lovers, the indigenous people of the Americas. Then they discuss the introduction and development of tobacco in Europe and the New World. Jeffers and Gordon acquaint us with many of the people who have influenced our image of cigars (Mark Twain, Groucho Marx, Ernest Hemingway, etc.) and give quotation buffs a nice supply of material. From the "Wooden Indian" to cigar boxes and bands, they explore the history and artistry of cigar paraphernalia.

The authors include a cigar index complete with their personal ratings of each cigar. The book shows its age here, as some of the cigars are no longer sold. This doesn't necessarily detract from the book. You just might run into somebody who's had a box aging for several years and is willing to trade a few sticks. In a situation like this, an older index of cigars would be helpful.

Jeffers and Gordon also cover humidors, cutters, and lighters. They even include a resource guide. These sections might lead the cigar neophyte to believe that cigar smoking is a costly pursuit, but this doesn't have to be the case. Less expensive and perfectly functional accessories are readily available; but as Winston Churchill warned, "Shoddiness can be found easily, in quantity" (I got that from this book). Choose carefully. There are several Internet message boards devoted to cigars that would be more helpful than this book in finding accessories that fit your taste and budget.

A Fine Reference Work - Bravo!
This is a useful and well-written cigar guide. It is getting a bit dated, but it is still very good for all cigar lovers.

Mick Mercer is the man!!
if Mick says its good, then I will indeed pick up this lovely book "Hey Mick! love your books!" anyway Mr. Mercer was right, people just don't understand how goth is simply apart of our everyday lives. In our soggy Count Chocula breakfest cereals, To some who are even obsessed as to declair that simply, "Everyday is Halloween!" Myself being one of them. also,...another good book to pick up is 'Gothic: four hundred years of excess, horror, evil and ruin' by Richard Davenport-Hines. It's a good book that explains our gothic history. Oh!, and also pick up '21st century Goth' by the awsome and funny author Mick Mercer.(hah! the hook ups!)

A great book - but not Goth For Dummies
Given that there is so much about Goth that some people don't appreciate, and a high proportion of that is explained here, you should find the temptation to buy this hard to ignore, so go for it. Although it is an academic work, it isn't the work of a verbal diarrhoea expert, but a sensible Goth who has a weighty task to complete.

From the academic perspective Paul Hodkinson attempts to disprove post-modern claims that media and commerce break down substantive cultural groupings. It covers UK Goth from the mid to late 90's, concentrating on the Birmingham, Plymouth and Leeds area, where 72 interviews were conducted, with over a hundred people completing a Whitby questionnaire.

Although an insider, he has the ability to stand back, and show an overview. As well as examining what Goth means to participants of the scene, Paul asks how strong the sense of the individual is, how consumerism is demonstrated, and the negative or positive aspects involved. He establishes the sense of belonging, as well as the contradiction of open-mindedness set against the occasional feelings of superiority. He covers many areas including shared identity and the chosen elements to Subcultures (Identity, Commitment, Consistent distinctiveness, Autonomy) and the emergence and development of Style, as well as online community. It isn't warts and all, but there are a few minor skin rashes, as he gets interesting responses/admissions from people in his study.

He may often write in a way which anyone hoping for a jolly read will not find easy, but anyone seeking some depth with find their faith amply rewarded. He examines the substance, so if you're interested in more than the surface this will be of great interest.

A Good Book!
This book turned out to be interesting as well as informative.
You are led through Getty's road to riches. The founding of his oil company recieves proper attention in this book. You are also given some background on the founding of the Getty Museum. The
marriages of Geyyt as well as some of his children are given
coveragw as well. This was a very good book.

ARE YOU READY FOR GETTY?
Wow, what a good book! Just finished reading this book and have to say that I really enjoyed all the information in it. I had heard of the Getty Museum and knew that he had made a lot of money in the oil business, but was not aware of the history. This is the third book that I have read in the past couple years or so that involve men who became extremely wealthy as a result of their ambitions. I find these stories to be fascinating, fun to read, and very informative. The Great Getty did'nt let me down.

What an excellent introduction to study of the Great Pyramid
This is a wonderful book! Seiss does a first-rate job of concisely introducing the reader to the fundamentals of the Judeo-Christian spiritual content of the Great Pyramid. He does this in a way that is very engaging, and it makes the book hard to put down. It is also easy to read, despite Seiss' use of Victorian English writing, which is another plus. All in all, this is a book that I would highly recommend for anyone interested in studying the spirtual and scientific truths embodied in the Great Pyramid. It is concise, practical, and informative. In other words, it is excellent.

Very thought provoking. Amazing bibical parallel
It is ammazing how Seiss reads the physical structure in light of biblical history. The comparison of the dimentions of the Great Pyramid to Scripture and history of Gods' people both Jew and gentile is very thought provoking. I have found that recent findings do not discredit any of Seiss' observations. This just helps to enforce the divine being active in the building of this Great Pyramid as Seiss explains. The nonbeliver will have difficulty not to investigate further. There is very strong EVIDENCE of the divine intervention in the building of the monument. Divine science is displayed or should I say Science before science was discovered is displayed. For those who need proof of a God this book is a strong evidence that can not be overlooked. A must reading for those who wish to see where the divine is active in the physical aspect of man's workings. Another foot print of the almighty creator left on his creation for man to see and ponder on. Seiss is a man who has been blessed with great insight to the workings of God. His book on the Apocalypse also displays this.
