Not What you Think

This is the screenplay for the movie, not the novel. I had to return it and buy the book in a real bookstore.

Generally a waste

I used the preliminary version of this text when it *first* came out in 1994-95. Let me just say this: our class, and everyone I talked (including many profs and grad students) *hated* this book. So, why did they use it? Because the Math Department made them! The discussions of most introductory concepts (derivatives and such) are advanced, but if you put the time in and work the problems, it isn't impossible to learn from this book. The chapters on series and sequences are **absolutely useless**, and as mentioned by others here, there are no 'real world' problems given. My advice: use Bradley and Smith's OUTSTANDING Calc text. I also hear the ones by Stewart are very good. But stay away from Ostebee/Zorn. Their books are mediocre.

cartoons and etc....

This book is a bunch of cartoons with no answers to the questions. To understand the book you have to have a sense of imagination. The author gets too personal with his pictures instead of teaching about phyical science.

Disappointing

This is not a book. It is a pamphlet. At a length of 20 pages, you pay approximately half a dollar per page. To add insult to injury, the scholarship is extremely shallow. The authors might have gleaned their summary of the lives of Gray and Agassiz from any encyclopedia. I felt cheated when I received this in the mail, and I am hoping to be able to return it for a refund.

Unreadable!

I could not make it through the first chapter of this book. I am not an English teacher, but the run-on sentences and atrocious sentence structure drove me crazy! The author tries to provide a political context for the Constellations, both paintings and poetry. However, he jumps from year to year and place to place without transition. I found this extremely confusing and also incomplete. I was also disappointed in the black and white illustrations. I don't think the paintings can be appreciated at all in this book. Don't buy it!

They should be ashamed

This lab manual, to be used with the accompanying recordings, is of extremely low quality. The mistakes are so frequent that you cannot use the material for effective feedback. I am about two thirds of the way through this course and, if anything, the errors are getting worse and more frequent. I am required to finish the material for a class, but am considering not doing any more of the lab work to focus on higher quality audio learning sources. This is my third foreign language and I have never seen such an incompetent attempt to throw together materials. Do yourself a favor and go with French in Action - it is in every sense a superior system of learning french.

1991 technical building manual. code has been revised twice since then. useless. by the way check out amazons policy on dispute with marketplace sellers!! no involvement. grea t policy huh.Amazon.com should require that all technical books state date of publishing. And no when I bought it it did not say out of print.!!

Signature Series WordPerfect 10 -- utter disappointment

I've been using Signature Series textbooks for several years and have been extremely happy with them, so when this book came out I ordered it sight unseen. Sadly, it proved to be a hollow shell when compared to even the WordPerfect 9 book. It omits huge areas of subject matter (does not even mention macros, e.g.) and leaves one with the impression that the authors took a collective nap when they were supposed to be working. I might recommend this book to those taking a survey course, but it falls far short of adequate for courses attempting in-depth coverage of WordPerfect 10. If the Signature Series WordPerfect 9 book were still available, I would use it to teach version 10.
Pass this one by.
