Applause
I am a Cree pipe carrier and I am so grateful for the gentle flowing words of prayer. Truly a humble man has written such a book of honoring the grandfathers as well as the words of the people whom he met. Kind and wonderous in its bringing together of Aboriginal and Christian beliefs as our path to one creator are meant to be.

soild logic
D'Costa uses such strong systematic logic throughout, that it is impossible to, (1) ignore his outstanding contribution to trinitarian theology and/verse religious pluralism;(2)refute the logic (based within the Catholic tradition) that he sustains throughout. Having a (catholic)theology degree, i can recommened this book without hesitation.

Three Generations of Memories
Generation gaps are erased when Grandmother shares her special box of memory keepsakes with her granddaughter. In turn, the little girl helps her own mother to realize that it is okay to take time to look back, even as we attempt to cope with the changes of today. Memories of times and things gone by surface as the mother packs her mother's belongings and moves her into her own home. Grandmother's hat box, the hand-made wooden box long forgotten by mother, and the daughter's own shoebox provide 3 generations of the joy of saving!

Great fun
"Men Seeking Women" is a genuinely entertaining collection of stories that all, in one way or another, center around sexual relations on the internet (with the curious exception of the last story by Po Bronson which, while good, doesn't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the collection). This is a really strong group of stories that explores the impact of the internet on the interactions between the sexes in a variety of different ways and from a variety of different angles. Some of the stories were better than others, of course, but I particularly liked "Payback Time" by Gary Krist, which takes as its theme the way men develop powerful crushes on enigmatic women they encounter on-line but of whom they know nothing; "Minesweeper" by David Liss, which is about a serial internet liar and how he justifies his awful behavior to himself; "The Face in the Glass" by Paul Hond, which is basically just effective and creepy; and "Prisoners of the Heart" which is, perhaps, not particularly realistic, but a whole lot of fun.

Great Book on Special Effects Pioneers
There is no better biography of Willis O'Brien the man who brought dinosaurs to life and of his protege Ray Harryhausen who made more dinos move and was largely responsible for the original Mighty Joe Young. In addition, there are fine pieces on James Whale, Terence Fisher, and Freddie Francis who invented and re-invented the modern gothic horror film.

A message from Arunachala
Published in Unknown Binding by Rider ()
Author: Paul Brunton
Amazon base price: $
Collectible price: $26.00
Average review score:

A short but timely message
Arunachala is a name of hill where Siva is worshipped as fire. Ramana Maharishi was a sage who lived there for a long period (1896-1950), at the foot of the hill. Paul Brunton as a seeker of turth met him, questioned him on various aspects. Ramana discussed with him about self-enquiry and guided him to practice it. In the book ' Message from Arunachala' is a set of small essays of Burton giving his reflections on various aspects of human conditions, when he lives near the hill. Most of the essays are written in the period between two world wars. In a gentle way, Brunton points the limitations of materialism, restricted rationalism, and the need for looking for spiritual meaning in life. Readers of this book are encouraged to read the selection from Paul Brunton's book ( A search in Secret India) which gives more details about this period. In this part, Ramana says to Paul Brunton ` I was literally charmed here and the same force which drew you to this place from Bombay, drew me to it from Madura". Readers should read the book Hunting the 'I' by Lucy Cornelssen and Ramana's Arunachala by Bhagavan's devotees ( both publications of Ramanasramam), to get a better picture of the sublime Arunachala.

Metaphors of Memory : A History of Ideas about the Mind

Informative, accessible, and highly recommended
Douwe Draaisma is a lecturer in the history of psychology at the University of Groningen. In Metaphors Of Memory: A History Of Ideas About The Mind he explores what memory is, how it is ephemeral, unreliable, and yet essential to everything a person does. Without memory we lose ability to perform simple physical tasks. Memory is elusive to define and from antiquity attempts to discuss or describe it have relied on metaphor. Draaisma provides the reader with a kind of guided tour of these metaphors throughout the ages and presents a compelling, scholarly history of ideas about the mind by exploring the ways these metaphors have been employed. Metaphors Of Memory: is fascinating, informative, accessible, and highly recommended to students of psychology and the non-specialist general reader with an interest in the nature of memory and its relationship to the human mind.
