Christianity Can Work in Politics
This book explains why religious thought should be more present in politics based on the nature of creation. It focuses on the governmental goal of justice from the Christian perspective and provides a sound basis for the Just War theory. This book proves what the founders intended all along that the First Amendment prohibition on the establishment of a national religion should be limited to that clear mandate, nothing more. In other words, contrary to the intolerant views of many of his critics, G.W. Bush is allowed to and should mention Jesus Christ. I commend the author of this insightful text.

Outstanding Little Study of the Tabernacle
The author concludes that the tabernacle and all its dimensions and accrutements was to point to God's presence. This is right on and well evidenced in this great little book by quoting both Christian and Jewish sources.

There is fine photos and drawings and models of OT temple and altars and priests garb, etc. This makes for wonderful stuff to pass out for Bible Study.

This makes for a reference one can turn to and use profitably to understand God's presence in Christ, the High Priest and Sacrifice.

Wow! Amazingly uplifting and easy to read. I am revived!
I picked this book up by chance, randomly opened it and began to read and just could not put it down. Anytime I encounter a problem now instead of thinking the worst like I used to I realize that God is up to something great! I have had many hurts and betrayals in my life and this book helped me to understand these events from the proper perspective. I have already seen more victories in my life because of this new perspective and I am certain more will come. Mr. Evans, I will seek out more of your books in the future. God really has used you mightily through this work. Thank you!

The fundamental symbol of the mystery of life
It is impossible to admit that divinities were the result of vain fabulations, for it has been proven historically that faith in mercyful divinities exerted an immense motivating influence. The symbolic expression, foundation of every nation's culture, previews in images the psychic conflict between unsensible and sensible intentions. This book sets the basis for the understanding of metaphysical as well as ethical symbolization.

God Two Thousand Religion Without the Bible
Published in Hardcover by April Enterprises (August, 1982)
Author: Paul and Wolff, Jurgen Winchell
Amazon base price: $20.00

Excellent book...takes a totally unique look at the Bible.
Paul Winchell pulls together all the various aspects of belief in the Bible, not in God, and shows the varied descrepencies within the Bible. Including the different accounts of the same events by the gospel writers, the vaired points that could be considered hypocrisy within the text of the old Testament, the "creation" of the Bible by early Popes, and problems with man's translation and passing on information over time. Basically the book presents a view that the Bible is "tainted" because it has been in the hands of mankind and has become altered or distorted from the word of God. God himself, and belief in Him, is held in high esteem. But living your life based on the Bible and a literal translation is found to be flawed. And throughout the book Winchell uses his gift of honesty about his life, problems, and humor to bring this information to the reader.

The Unknown History behind your Patrologia Graeca!
I came upon this book a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. As an armchair reader of Patristic texts I often use some of Minge's works. I was delighted by the story behind the publishing of these and so many other books in such a short amount of time. Using rather questionable business practices, Minge put out both the Patrologia Latina and the Patrologia Graeca (almost 400 vols). Moreover, he published ten newspapers and over 1000 volumes in just 30 years.

I am not sure that the end justifies the means, but Minge's odd and entertaining saga is a good tale, esp is you are interestind in patristics.

You may also find A Tactful God interesting if you have an interest in liturgical studies. It is the story of Gregory Dom Dix, the litrugical scholar who published the massive Shape of the LIturgy. Enjoy!

Innovative, competent, interesting, unusual
Having had the privilege of studying the course behind this publication first-hand at Exeter, I would recommend the book to any student who seeks a thorough and well-rounded survey of the contemporary debate between science and religion.

Or is it a debate? The authors posit several models of dialogue between these two - usually separated - spheres, and this forms a core feature of this textbook: the opportunity to explore ways in which the two complement and enrich one another.

Therefore as well as being competently yet simply introduced to complex scientific questions (the Big Bang, the origin of life, quantum theory - to name a few), the author allows scope for the reader to see - for himself, and through the eyes of great thinkers, more and less famous - how it is possible to construct a working hypothesis of the inter-relation between God, humanity and the cosmos.

In the later chapters, which are a particularly unique and enjoyable section, we are introduced to the scientifically-influenced theologies of Jay McDaniel's "pelican heaven", Sallie McFague's "embodied God" and Ruth Page's "Web of Life". The reader can enjoy these models, whilst exercising a critical eye, sensitive to the scientific perceptions and phenomena so effectively outlined towards the beginning of the book.

On top of this, other views are outlined, including a section on Islamic theology and creation.

This is a great book for students and all those interested in understanding more of the world about them. It is refreshing to find a theology book which is so world-affirming, without resorting to religious dogmatism: not just a dry textbook, but a competent handbook AND a "choose you own adventure!"
