Better Than Reinventing the Wheel, or the Form in this case!
This is a very useful selection of forms required, backstage, on the road, in the shop, and in the office. All those misc forms you need are here. Petty Cash, Labor Contract, Call list, Lighting Paper work, Shop Orders, Sound notes, Theatre specs. and on and on. By the same author who brought us "Backstage Handbook an Illustrated Almanac of Technical Information", Paul Carter. It even includes a form for pencil sharpening. Another of those collection of forms, but specific to entertainment and theatre. It can save you hours of creating your own, or at least point you in the right direction. It would be great if the book included a diskette with templates for MS Word, Wordperfect, or MS Works

Everything you ever needed to know
Theatre Producers! This is an intriguing collection of forms that suit a number of purposes. Almost all of the forms are perfect for making sure that information about productions is recorded thoroughly and usefully, reported clearly, and archived in a meaningful way. Some of the forms may not be exactly what you need, but just staring at one that's close can remind you of how to adapt it to what you need. Cast lists, make-up charts, costume fitting charts, lighting patch charts, fly schedules, cue sheets - often laid out just as they need to be. And they serve as great check lists to tell you if you've thought of everything. Paul has!

A few of the forms are sly digs at people who record, report, and archive too much. Take for exaple, the pencil sharpening log, which, like a telephone log, tells the manager who is doing the most work, by who has to sharpen the most. Or does it?

Every theatre should have one for the production crew to browse through. Add this book to your purchasing form before it's too late!!

excellent
i just wish they would make it into a cd-rom or disk so that we could type on the from then print it out

Gotta love duct tape
If you have ever used duct tape for something it was not originally intended for, you must read this book.

Very Well Written Book
I enjoyed the book from a few years ago when i got it. The book was shared to me by the author at a father son retreat. I recomend the book for people in the early teens and up. It is a very well written book about his life.

An enjoyable experience of inspirational help.
Bandaids and Duct Tape is an awesome book! Paul Snyder is a very outstanding man! I understand that he passed away on October 2, 2000, before he was able to share more of his inspirational humor with us. I will consider Bandaids & Duct Tape a treasure in my collection of humorous inspirational books. Thank You Paul, your memory will live on, and your spirit will continue to bless many people!

Battle Road

fine tape of a very exciting event
We bought this tape because we thought it would be a good way to expose our kids to American history. The Colonial Radio folks seem to have a knack at making dry history lessons fun (we own a couple of their tapes). This particular production is not as flashy as some of their others, but it is none the less a good one. Unfortunately, my Father-in-Law is a history fanatic, and we have not seen the tape since his last visit. The family gives it a hearty four thumbs up.

Very Rousing
I live in the area and have been along Battle Road many times. This tape has really brought the historical events alive for me. I have since gotten the Plimouth tape and am eagerly looking forward to the rumored Gettysburg series.

my kids and I loved it
We stumbled upon this wonderful little tape purely by accident while doing the tourist thing in New England. When visiting the Lexington visitors center, we over heard the park rangers saying great things about this cassette, we bought one and must have listened to it a dozen times during the trip. The story of Paul Revere's ride and the battle of Lexington is truly a great one, and this tape makes listening to history fun and exciting. The kids love it (as do we) thought it is by no means a childrens product. It is apparently well researched and very well performed. We will be ordering some of the other items written by Jerry Robbins to see if they are of equal quality.

Helpful as a reference, but only on U.S. ships
I originally got this expecting information on all battleships, not just the U.S. examples. However, despite the fact that comparisons cannot be drawn with their rivals overseas in this book does not undermine its effectiveness altogether. It has quite a lot of photos, in varying times in the boats' careers, from construction to their disposal. This is a book very helpful for modelers, and for battleship enthusiasts.

Erudite, powerful, and majestic
Filled with breathtaking photographs in color and black-and-white, Battleships is both a history and a tribute to naval craft designed specifically for the art of war. Chapters span centuries of history up through the modern day; a wealth of information fills every chapter. Erudite, powerful, and majestic, Battleships is a captivating and astounding giftbook for anyone with an interest in these signatures of naval power and a welcome addition to community library reference collections.

Excellent historical look at some great vessels...
This book covers the history of the American battleship fleet from the commissioning of the prototype "coastal defense battleships" Texas and Maine in 1895 to the final retirement of the Iowa class in the early 1990s. Despite the title, the book concentrates completely on the American ships. But, it is a VERY enjoyable book nonetheless. As one might expect, the book covers all the major events of the period, including the destruction of the Maine, the Battle of Santiago, the cruise of the Great White Fleet, the fleet actions in World Wars One and Two, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm. The book is also full of personal stories and anecdotes from officers and sailors aboard these great ships, detailing such incidents as coaling aboard the old pre-dreadnoughts, a female stowaway aboard the USS Arizona, and the old prank of sending a lighted piece of paper floating down the trench on the ship's head. The book provides an excellent assortment of pictures. I especially enjoyed the up-close shots of the Spanish-American War-era ships, as well as the shots of the cage masts and bridge areas aboard the Florida and Wyoming class ships. Of course, a lot of the book is devoted to coverage of the Iowa class, both due to their long service and the fact that the author served aboard the USS New Jersey. I got this book as a Christmas present, and have already read through it twice. Plus, I find myself constantly pulling the book off the shelf, just to open it up and let my eyes rest on all the great pictures of these majestic ships. If you are a battleship enthusiast, or just generally a naval buff, I guarantee you will enjoy this book.

A great mixture of brutality, gentility, passion and cool
I had a great time reading Blood is Pretty. The story kept surprising me, and I especially found the characters to be very fun to be with. Except, of course, Mr. Rand, and his henchmen. (Rand himself, I thought I recognized) I love that Anne was so smart. I love that Petey was such a nut. And I loved the way Leiva pulled it all together. The dialogue was wonderful, whether it was Fixxer and Roee debating a philosophical point, or Batsarov "expressing self." The Fixxer himself, of course, is just fascinating. A great mixture of brutality, gentility, passion and cool; a philosopher and man of action. His resourcefulness makes James Bond look like a damsel in distress. If you leave this book with one jealous note, it's that, if only you could have a shepherd, or seer, like Roee. Marvelous marvelous character. Reminded me of the fellow who helped out Cary Grant in To Catch A Thief. But Roee is far beyond that. A total original, and a delight! I can't wait to read the promised sequel: Hollywood is an All Volunteer Army.

Watched a movie as I read the book...
"Blood is Pretty" reads as if the reader is also watching a movie. Author Leiva writes well and shows off his obvious experience in the world by interweaving pop culture and cutting edge trends...This fast paced read is never dull and the believeable characters move the plot, the way a good book should. Two thumbs up!

Blood is Pretty has everything.
Blood is Pretty has everything. This book is a page-turner with aspirational characters that are both real and intriguing, a plot that both twists and plunges forward faster than an NFL running back, humor dryer than Bond's martini and explosions, guns and creams, all of which cannot even be mentioned on a family site.
Leiva delivers us the Fixxer, who is a Hollywood insider asked to help a starlet's potentially doomed career. His fee? Only a large percentage of her future income; forever.

He has a personal assistant who is ex-Israeli commando, he never drives the same car twice and has acquaintances from every walk of life that help him tackle what turns into a serious and ambitious encounter with a Bulgarian cowboy, a film director, and an international team of ner-do-wells. And all this in a story of daily life in Hollywood, on steroids. Blood is Pretty is literally and figuratively a blast. Proceed with abandon!

I was disappointed with this book
I found this book too basic. Most of the book is about choosing the right equipment. There are only a few chapters on flying. I found alot of this information by searching Deja News and reading rec.models.rc.helicopter.

Excellent starting point. Great book
I really enjoyed the book. Read it from cover to cover, then again, before making the plunge and buying my first heli.
The book is somewhat outdated on a few things (gyroscope, radio gears), but give the newcomer a good understanding of what it takes to build and fly RC helicopters. As the title says, it only covers the basics, but does a pretty good at that.

Great book for beginners!
This book is very well setup and organized for the beginner in mind. It does not assume that you know everything, and by the end of the book, you'll know enough to finally fly a helicoptor. However, the tech info is slightly outdated (1995), but it is still very helpful. I'd strongly recommend it. I'd also recommend getting Milt's Helicopter videos too!

An Awesome story for all ages!
The Bear by Anton Chekhov was one the most interesting yet provokative stories I've ever read. This play shows the interesting relationships between men and women. I am 16 yrs. old and my acting class is doing this play for competition. This play is the first one that the entire class fully enjoyed.

Want to laugh at the nature of man?
The Bear by Anton Chekhov is one of the best plays that I have read in my entire life. It features funny prose which makes the reader think about the nature of mankind and how he will go to any lengths to have what he wants. Smirnov (the main character) at first wants the money that an old colleague of his owes him from his wife and then falls in love with the mourning widow. He is spured on by the insesant denial from the woman that he can not have the money and falls for her fiery nature. A great read and I urge all readers of his plays to read this little beauty

Great play!
This play was a great description of how men react to women. It's a great laugher and I recommend it fully!

Can't Win 'Em All
"The Big Book of Losers" is the ninth in the Big Book series from Paradox Press. This volume tells you about historically bad luck, from General Custer to the Edsel to Milli Vanilli. Reading this book, you can't lose! Just be glad you're not them!

A bit mean but funny anyhow
I went to my local comics shop and saw the owner reading The Big Book of Losers. I asked to look at it, and I then know I must have it. The book is full of entertaining stories of people and bad ideas that were failures. It's quite entertaining reading the stories of people like the Dalton Gang, and Milli Vanilli, who deserve to be called losers. Unfortunately, some the people written about did not have the loser essence, but merely had some bad luck, or were held back by people who were more powerful and who were evil. These ones were not so funny. Overall, though, it is a good book, and worth reading

A fascinating collection of stories
A fantastic book! I bought this for one of my sons for Christmas, along with several other more print-oriented books. I'm not a diehard fan of books in comic format, but as I reviewed this upon arrival I was delighted to discover the depth of information provided. The wide variety of characters, the great expanse of historical periods covered and the different "genres" of loser subjects proved much more entertaining than I expected when I bought this book. Consider this one of the classier bathroom readers for the entire family!
