Phenomenal Deck-Pretty Hard To Find
But it is definitely worth locating. The deck is oversize and filled with amazing color, detail, verbage, etc. Even if you are not a fan of Shakespeare, the pure beauty of the cards in relation to tarot make this deck worth getting. Being out of print, I haven't seen it listed in many of the online tarot resources for purchasing decks....

worth looking for....
....a nicely illustrated deck with quotations from various plays, compiled by a Shakespearian actress.

Hard to find tarot deck found through Amazon Auctions
This tarot deck and book are both beautifully done. The art is simple, yet exquisite. The book very nicely gives a summary for each card's quote's play. The quotes and styles of the cards are very well chosen for the theme of the cards. I consider myself very lucky to now own this deck. If you can get a hold of one, grab it immediately, no matter the cost. This deck is priceless!

An unflinching and brutal look at the horrors of war
A Short, Offhand Killing Affair: Soldiers And Social Conflict During The Mexican-American War by Paul Foos (History Department, Georgia State University - Atlanta) draws directly upon diaries and letters of soldiers in the Mexican-American War (1846-48), to survey and examine a bitterly fought conflict which was to change the shape of the emerging American nation. Offering an unflinching and brutal look at the horrors of war as sufferingly experienced by rank-and-file soldiers (as well as the violent, sometimes murderous and ravaging behavior many such soldiers exacted upon the inhabitants of the territory they conquered), A Short, Offhand Killing Affair fully and dramatically reveals a ruthless and darker aspect of what came to be called America's "Manifest Destiny".

Excellent Analysis
This book crystalizes the events of the Mexican war into an honest appraisal of American society at the time.

history repeats itself
This lucidly written history of how American soldiers were lured into service for a supposedly noble cause and then discovered themselves in a confounding situation couldn't be more timely. Issues of racism and nationalism are shown to be as alive then as they are today.

A Great Read For Everyone!
I bought this book when it was on a clearance rack. It is by far the best book I have ever purchased for my family. We have made many loans and have always prayed that it would make it back to us safely. Thankfully, it has. The picture of the author has left us rolling on the floor with tears in our eyes, a stitch in our sides, and gasping for breath. What a wonderful imagination and sense of humor. Make sure you read all the little signs in the hotels and feed shop. You will not regret buying this book unless you need to find another copy. It needs to be back in print!

This book is the best I ever read.
I love the pictures and the story. I like the pictures of the coneys, they're so cute. I especially like Saladin, he's so cute and quick on the draw. I love the shops and stores that the coneys go to like the Bunny Hop Saloon and the Pellet Exchange Building. It's a great story. I wonder if you made another story? If you did I would sure like to read it.

A fun book for children with clever content for adults
I have read this book (and the author's earlier book) to my two year old fourty to fifty times. He is fasinated by the construction of the rabit's machines and by the detail of the drawings. I have enjoyed the puns and quips in the story. It is a book which will not drive a parent nuts in the re-reading

Suspenseful, Historical Love Story
I read "So Rich A Crown" and was captivated from the first page. In fact I did not want to put it down. The author has used great detail in descriptions of people and places.Obviously, the author spent a great deal of time researching her material. I was especially pleased with how easily the flow from one character to another , one continent to another. The over riding theme "goodness over evil"was well maintained , yet, kept hidden from reader until the end. One of the best books I have read in recent years!!

So Rich A Crown
So Rich A Crown is one of the best books that I have read lately. I found myself wanting to know what else was going to happen with these characters. Priscilla Paul has done an outstanding job of writing a book with all the excitement that you want without all the trash. This is a book filled with all the makings of a best seller. I personally believe if I can feel the heartache and trimupth of the characters then I have truly read a wonderful book. That is what you will get with So Rich A Crown. You will find that lessons of Love, Faith, Trust and Sorrow fill the pages of this book. After you have read this book don't be surprised to find yourself evaluating your most important relationships, the level of trust that you have with your closest friends, and the faith you have in God. You will also find yourself waiting for the future books by Priscilla Paul.

Suspense around every corner
This is a wonderful book. Once I began reading, it was almost impossible to put it down. Definately a page turner !! I can hardly wait for the next book. Priscilla definately has the talent to keep you on the "edge of your seat", and I anticipate that future books will be just as wonderful. Definately a must read !!

For every software engineer
This book is from the SEI, the home of software quality.
I cannot imagine it not being on the reference shelf of
any software engineer. Well laid out and full of substance.

The Value of Process Patterns
Imagine! you are a well founded software engineer and try to establish
the product line approach in your company.
Imagine! managers ask you to proof that the product line approach will
have a "good" return of investment.
Imagine! you open page XXX in your book YYY and start reading section
ZZZ.
Imagine! you develop a concept for a business case in 2 hours though you
haven't attended any business class ever.
Surprise! the you is me
Surprise! the XXX is 365
Surprise! YYY is Linda's and Paul's Product Line Book (Software Product
Lines: Practices and Patterns)
Surprise! ZZZ is the "What to build PATTERN".

The Product Line Patterns are the heart and the most condensed
experience of the SEI Software Product Line Framework. Though most
people do not recognize the patterns give you the balance between too
specific and too general process descriptions. The three cycles Core
Asset Development, Product Development, and Management of the framework
are good for simple overview purpose and therefore appropriate for the
management level. The 29 practice areas guide you through activities and
methods; therefore they are basically at the operational especially the
engineering level.

But it is the patterns that help you to sail though some of the practice
areas to achieve a certain goal. The patterns set the process and the
workflow. They are different for different problems and environments;
that's what a workflow should be.
Hunting for the world wide valid process description that is specific
enough to be meaningful is like trying to invent the perpetum mobile.

Suggesting only one product line process would therefore mean that it is
very general or that it is valid only for certain organizations,
markets, goals, products, and people. The patterns are specific
processes that help to achieve only certain goals in a predefined
environment. Though I think the framework patterns can be improved and
extended they are much more meaningful to the product line community
than any other product line process description I have seen up to now.

Excellent!
I'm the CTO of a company (Monetaire - http://www.monetaire.com) that has recently made the successful transition to a product line focus. This book is by far the best reference I've found on the topic.

Unexpected, Excellent, and Enjoyable!
Because this book is about Jews during WWII I thought it would be depressing - it wasn't. Because this book is told from a child's point of view I thought it would be childish or stream of consciousness - it wasn't. This book is alternately a little funny and a little sad, alternately vague and brilliantly lucid, but always it was engaging and delightful!

I couldn't put it down
I submitted a review of this book last week. What happened to it?

I couldn't put it down
the book review that I read in the paper said that the first part of this book, which is set in Java is majical but that when the setting moves to Europe it becomes ordinary. I disagree. I ordered it because of the exotic early setting but I liked it even better as it went on. Description is important to me in a book and I thought that the writer actually lavished more of it on the European section, probably because this is an autobiographical novel and she remembers more clearly what she saw when she was older. I'll never forget the part about the wetlands of Holland because she made me see it so clearly. I highly recommend it.

Great resource for teachers of biology
A great resource for science methods and information.

Essential Sourcebooks
This is one of three essential source books that includes A Sourcebook for Elementary Science and Geology and Earth Sciences Sourcebook (out of print). Professionals in business, science, engineering, agriculture and K-12 & university education keep these sourcebooks close at hand. These are the "how to" methods of science. You are cost-effective by efficient use of equipment, glassware, reagents and specimens. I regularly give the Sourcebook for the Biological Sciences as a gift to those I work with.

Must have for science teachers!!!
I am a new science teacher. I have found this book to be a necessity in my classroom. In talking with veteran teachers, they also see this book as vital to any biology teacher. It is easy to use and provides many innovative ideas.

Required reading on traditional Japan
Originally compiled in 1958, this book (Volume I) remains standard issue in most university courses on the study of Japan prior to 1868, whether that class is literature, history, philosophy or anthropology. The editor, Wm. Theodore de Bary, and one of the compilers, Donald Keene (see Keene, "On Familiar Terms") are two of the most highly regarded Western scholars on the subject of Japanese culture and literature, each having devoted an entire lifetime to the subject.

On the whole, Sources of Japanese Tradition, Vol. 1 is a reference book on intellectual development in traditional Japan. It is essential for anyone interested in developing a deeper understanding of Japan over a period of time, which means it is not intended as a quick read.

Volume I is mostly an overview of traditional literature, poetry, aesthetics, religion and philosophy from the earliest written works until the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate in the mid nineteenth century. The chapters are chronological and thematic, and each is prefaced with historical context for better understanding. The chapter bodies consist of translations of some of the most representative works from Japan, including excerpts from Japan's most famous novel, "The Tale of Genji" (early 11th century), as well as numerous samples from the spectrum of Japanese Buddhism (not just Zen), and plenty on the philosophy of neo-Confucianism and other Chinese influences on Japan. On the downside, although there is some discussion of Haiku poetry, there is not enough. And unfortunately, Kabuki, Japan's most popular form of theater, and Japanese painting, which has greatly influenced modern artists in the West, are hardly mentioned, and Japanese music is not even addressed. This makes the book somewhat of a companion to political, social and economic history - which is outstanding if that is what you are looking for.

The book represents the yardstick of compilations on Japanese intellectual history and should not be intimidating to readers who have some knowledge of Japan, nor too simplistic for the more informed. Because it is the old standard bearer, there is a definite need for an updated version that includes more for contemporary audiences, such as better discussions of Kabuki, Haiku and scroll painting. However, the volume is organized well enough for readers to concentrate only on sections they have immediate interest, making the book accessible to a variety of readers who seek a broader understanding of traditional Japanese culture and intellectual history.

Sourcebook of modern Japan
This book is a wonderful introduction to modern Japanese history. It is an anthology of important sources, beginning with the Shinto revival of the 18th century, through the Meiji Period, World War II, into the 1950s. This is an invaluable reference work for anyone concerned with Japan's development over the last two centuries.

Sourcebook of ancient Japan
This book is wonderful introduction to Japanese history. It covers Japan from the earliest sources through the late Tokugawa Shogunate in the 18th century. The sources trace political, social, artistic, philosophic, and religious trends throughout Japanese history, in the words of the Japanese of those former periods. Selections from all the important source material for Japanese history are assembled in this book.

Insightful Interviews
I found this was a very interesting series of interviews with Foucault by a journalist from the Italian Communist Party. His discussions about social change and marxism were enlightening. I think this kind of interview format offers a refreshing and different perspective on his work compaired reading his books.

A remarkable little book
I agree entirely with the reviewer from SUNY. There is so much secondary literature on Foucault precisely because so many are looking to appropriate the fashion of his name to any bastardized cause celebre. This clear, concise, and challenging little book presents a better introduction to Foucault's thinking than all of the secondary and tertiary literature combined.

Great and cheap
Absolutely the best short introduction to Foucault's way of thinking and his reasons for doing so. Unfortunately, few in the "post-modern" camp really know anything about the man's work, no matter how much they read.
