A boon for the mature martial artist
Unfortunately, anatomy and physiology is not commonly taught in martial arts classes. The need for some knowledge of these fields becomes more apparent the older the age of the student. Not only does the older student take longer to heal from injuries, but repetitive stress injury becomes a real possibility.

This book addresses these issues in a forthright, helpful manner. Perry Sensei has put together a collection of text, diagrams and photographs that illustrate the common ways that even seemingly simple moves can be executed in a fashion that can cause injury.

This information is totally applicable across the divisional lines of modern martial arts. His Shotokan background speaks as strongly to my Tae Kwon Do training as to his own discipline. I highly recommend this work.

Good How-To Introduction to OrCad
Mr. Krol provides a good tutorial overview of OrCad Capture without losing the reader in the detail of the software. Only a few times did the steps outlined in the text not work on my version of Capture (ver 7.2).

This book is well worth the time.

Subject focus makes this book a winner
I've read a lot of leadership books, but this one stands out because of its focus on communication as a key leadership skill. It offered clear, easy-to-implement communication strategies that made an immediate difference with my team. It's amazing that such a basic concept--the best leaders are the best communicators--is overlooked or undervalued by many of the top MDA programs. This book will make a difference for individuals looking for ways to improve their leadership abilities. And, the real-world stories make it entertaining as well as educational.

Great primer on materials management
My review of Bernard's book is given relative to the dozen or so other inventory books I have bought, read and suffered through over the years. Bernard's books is clearly one of the best inventory management books I've come across.

The book contains a tremendous amount of detail; so much so, in fact, that there are often times when I wish I could just get to the simple equation or concept I am looking for without so much supplementary content. But this is a great problem to have, when I think back to another inventory book which thought that the statement "safety stocks should be calculated so that adequate coverage is given to demand while not incurring too much investment" was enough detail on that topic.

This book has two types of content: field content and consulting content. I have literally used its field content on several occassions during detailed project work (I am a professional supply chain consultant) to develop and calibrate forecasting models, help develop an MRP table and fields, calculate stocking levels, etc. I have used the consulting content to discuss the higher-level topics of inventory strategies, management capabilities and integrated planning with my clients. One client even bought the book himself after reading it over my shoulder. Both of these content types are found throughout the book, and its up to the reader to pick and choose what is relevant to his/her needs.

I highly, highly recommend this book to the supply chain / inventory specialist. Its both a great primer on material management fundamentals and a repository of leading edge thinking. Its scope is broad-based, so you may find other books that are deeper in a specific area (service parts, for example), but I challenge the reader to find another book both so broad and deep and rich enough in all inventory-related areas.

A book to take to the factory floor with you
A really "hands on" book. Covers such diverse issues as algorithms, handling hardware, lighting, interfaces, etc.

WHAT I LIKED THE MOST ABOUT THE BOOK:

- Includes practical tips and checklists.

- Lots of code lists, blueprints and the like.

- Practical and implementation concerns from start to end.

- Nice motivating introduction.

WHAT I DONT LIKE ABOUT THE BOOK:

- Includes a couple naive theoretical issues (useless)

- It's too much specific to Prolog+ programming language, though this is a high-level, easy to grasp language.

OVERALL: A VERY GOOD book for those who are familiar with Computer Vision (academic) and are trying to understand the problems of Machine Vision (engineering), written by someone who obviously understands both worlds deeply.
