The Baptist
Remarkably the Baptist was prophetic of the current state in the Middle East. While the fictional story is rivetting, it is based in the world we are watching on TV today. The Baptist is geographically corect, using different names for the the terrorist that we now know as Al-quaeda.
I had to check the publishing date more than once to understand that this book was written two and half years ago.
It's a great read. I'm ordering one for my brother to take on his annual surfing trip. I know he will enjoy the late nights when you can't put the Baptist down.

Truly an "adventure"
From the first few pages, I couldn't put this book down! It was a mental roller coaster ride from the beginning. Not only is this topic unbelievably relevant for today, it was also enlightening. The title of this book, becomes clear, a few chapters from the end. And for myself, the best part was knowing that the incident involving the title, is nonfiction (this is recognized in the author's forward.) So, not only was this book great reading, but I learned something about the middle east countries, as well. Don't let the title fool you, as this book is not about a church boy! The price of this book is in the higher range, but it's well worth the extra $.

Great pictures, very INFORMATIVE and interesting!
I purchased this book for my husband who was then interested in purchasing a "cuda". With the information found in this book, he was able to see which "cuda's" would be oof more value since the production of some was extremely limited. After reading the book, we were able to take the knowledge to the Mopar Nationals and wisely purchase a CUDA that is an investment. I would highly recommend purchasing this book. He continues to tell me just how much he enjoys the book. He even took it to the Woodward Cruise here and showed it to his friends. Though I paid $22.95 at the store.......it was worth it!!

Packed with crisp color photos for 64-74 reference purposes.
Excellant book for visual identification of 1964-1974 cars. Text is somewhat general in content, but clear and easy to read. Book also gives production figures broken down by models for each year--a nice extra!!! I was looking for a color visual guide----one with lots of pictures...and this one was exactly what I was looking for. It has more pictures than text.

A Classic Treatise
The late Paul Ramsey continues to speak to our situation today. This book, originally published circa 1950, provides an outstanding introduction, not simply to Christian ethics, but to Ramsey's way of thinking. Especially thought-provoking is the section "What the Christian Does Without a Code."

Basic Christian Ethics
This fascinating look at the basic tenets of Christianity is both powerful and enlightening. It should be required reading for anyone studying ethics or theology as well as christians who want to come to a greater understanding of their religion and faith. Particularly noteworhty is the chapter called "Christian Love in Search of a Social Policy" which discusses, among other things, the concept of rights in the framework of compassion. This book has helped me come to a deeper understanding of my own faith and values and has transformed my perspective on a number of issues.

Hunting for the Mousa Lisa...
This is about as close as you'd want to come to seeing Sherlock Holmes investigating the theft of the Mona Lisa (because Basil is a bit more fun, and the history of the Mousa Lisa is more interesting).

This book is worth picking up, just for the sake of the story of how the Mousa Lisa came to be painted (I won't spoil it for you by trying to summarize it here, but it's touching). Someone has managed to substitute a forgery for the real Mousa Lisa, and the substitution was detected only due to the zeal of a visiting art expert. Basil and Dawson have been called in to track down and recover the painting, but of course things are more complicated than they seem...

The best one yet!!!
Basil of Baker Street is back again! I'm a 12 year old girl who just loves this book. This one leds Basil and Dawson to Mexico to find the stolen Mousa Lisa! And it ends up were Ratigan, Basil's worst enemy, has kidnapped, or should I say mousenapped, Dawson!! Basil has to go threw thick and thin to solve this case

Basil of Baker Street
I really liked this book because I like books about detectives. This is about a mouse detective who gets lessons from Sherlock Holmes.Like Sherlock Holmes, Basil has an assistant and together they go on lots of adventures solving cases.I couldn't put this book down I liked it so much. It wasn't too scary but it was never boring.

Fun for Sherlockians
Basil is the Sherlock Holmes of the Mouse World. His friend and associate Dr. Dawson narrates the story. Mrs. Judson is their mousekeeper. The mouse detective has learned his sleuthing skills by listening to Sherlock Holmes tell Dr. Watson how he solved his cases. Basil takes notes in shortpaw. Basil and Dr. Dawson live in the mouse village Holmestead in the cellar at 221B Baker St. In this book Basil solves the kidnapping of the mouse twins Angela and Agatha. Children will enjoy this book, and grown-up Sherlockians will appreciate it even more. It is charmingly illustrated. If you like "Basil of Baker Street," there are four delightful sequels.

Excellent, wholesome, juvenile reading.
I was pleasantly surprised at the strength of character this and the whole series brought out. Paul Hutchens books captured my 10 year olds imagination. While these aren't huge novels, they are just the right size for a 10 year old's attention span and the central theme never gets lost. This is a great reinforcement for any parent trying to present the correct values in todays world.

A great book for teens, and adults alike!
As the first in the Sugar Greek Gang series, The Battle of the Bees sets a standard that the author never broke throughout the whole series. That standard is, in a nutshell, to: Give teens something that is wholesome, and good for Christian reading (as well as non-Christian readiing!).

These books not only include a great set of characters, but also good moral standards that would impress anybody.

This particular book is set in the mid-west of the USA in a little town called Sugar Greek (so named for the greek that flowed peacfully through it).

As the book opens, and the plot begins, you will notice that it doesn't sound like anything you ever read before; something most books after this genre fall short in. There is very little repetivness in the book, and the story plot flows smoothly along at a pace that isn't to fast. However it is not so slow that you get bored with the book.

Bill Collins (who the book is about) "tells" you the story, in that it sounds like like he is talkign to you, rather then you reading about him. This gives the reader a differant perspective on the story, and makes things very clear.

One thing that I personally really liked about the book was the fact that, unlike alot of Christian Teen novels, this perticular one had very little girl/boy relationship material in it. However, while it doesn't have that, it has a very exciting plot, plenty of action and adventure, and great kids. The author made every one in the Sugar Greek Gang a hero, and even the reader begins to feel that he or she may have been a hero along with them!

The only thing that I have against the book is the fact that it is to short. There really should be more. At least there is quite a long series here! I strongly recommend getting all of them! You will not be dissapointed in the least!

Outstanding accuracy of dates & places
I was part of the original crew aboard the Missouri from Commissioning Day, June 11, 1944 until March, 1946 as a Radioman in the CR Division. Paul Stillwell did an outstanding job of giving an accurate account of dates and places involving the USS Missouri from the first bolt installed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard until the present time. I use this book quite often to refresh my memory of the exact dates of various things that happened while I was aboard. I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing an accurate history of the USS Missouri = BB63.

Superb Documentary
Perhaps I am a bit prejudice since I am also one of the contributors to the book. Before retiring from Civil Service (Navy) I was the configuration manager for the reactivations of the four Battleships. I was familiar with the author's previous works and was very impressed with his attention to the personal stories of the ships. After retirement, I was then free to provide the author any and all personal knowledge of the ship's reactivation period at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard. Paul selected the best memories I documented and included them superbly into the book. The author does not go into the technical aspects as to how a Battleship is built, leaving that up to other authors more inclined to include how many rivets were driven, etc. Though I wish he had the space to include the TRUE story of the origin of the cracked armor panel in the turret of barbette III. No, it was NOT caused by the grounding in Hampton Roads but was a heat treating surface fracture that occured during manufacture. But technical manuals are not the author's style and I am glad they are not. After all, a ship is really the culmination of dedicated and skilled human beings who built her and the ship's success is the dedication and bravery of the men who sailed her. Paul Stillwell brings this human interest across very well. And, I'm sorry, but I did not buy the book. I was sent an autographed copy by the author which I will treasure forever. Richard A. The best Big J book
I own this book and am very pleased with it , I agree with other people that it was published much to early it needs more info , other wise a very very good book a must have.

Every Naval historian should have this book.
The only thing I could find "wrong" about Paul's book is that it was published before her last and premature (my opinion) inactivation. Well, there IS one more thing "wrong", I was still employed by the Navy at the time and was not allowed to furnish Paul technical history of the ship's 1981/82 reactivation and modernization period. Maybe, if Paul finds the time to revise the book one more time, we can get all that updated. Otherwise, the author brings you the life of a Battleship in a way no other person can do. Well, of course Paul Stillwell can. He SERVED aboard The Big J himself. And that's his style of historical record; the people who made up those ships as the designers, craftsmen and crewmen. I cannot imagine anyone serious about Naval history not wanting this book in their library. Therefore, even if your interest is in cruisers or destroyers or submarines or carriers, you MUST have THIS book because it is about the PEOPLE that made the United States Navy the greatest Naval Force in the history of the world.
