Dwell In Love
Dwell In Love sits on my desk to access for moment to moment inspiration.
This book is a rich source of inspiration for anyone who is in dispair or finds themselves in need of hope. For those who dwell in love it serves as a mini reality vacation from the routine duties of daily life.Food for the Soul.

Meeting Jesus
I found the words in this book to have the feel and sense of Jesus; very similar to the way Jesus comes across in the classic God Calling which was also a channeled work. I recommend this book to anyone whose spirituality is grounded in Jesus. The messages are universal and, at the same time, specific to life problems and situations.

Dwell in Love
A wonderful book for those who search that should not be missed.

One of my favorite novels
Better than Milan Kundera, this is a great novel. It may seem a little dated, as we are all tired of the alienated college professor rap(they write what they know). However the journey back to the war really are moving, and I do reccomend this book.

Living in History
As brief as can be: this novel demonstrates how some live in history and some observe it. The contrast between the North American portions, where history happens 'out there', and the remainder of the book are striking and affecting. I shed tears while in this book, beware, it is real in the poet's way.

Fantastic
Quite an amazing book. I picked it up after seeing it on a book list of top influential books in Prague. I guess it is popular in its original Czech language. The main character being a Canadian from the then communist, totalitarian regime - was quite an experience for myself, and gave me some insight on how the other half lived ... the fact was like a fairy tale, and the fiction was such truth.

Great Fun and Intererest for the Amataur & Pro
This book is great! While this book is geared towards the real professional, such as a MD, ME, or Police investigator, (not me) this book is totally readable, interesting for the layperson or student of entomology. This is one of my favorite, if not my favorite entomological text!! While I am not normally morbid, this book brings out my morbid side - death & bugs can be fun and interesting!!!

Entomology & Death: A Procedural Guide
Entomology & Death: A Procedural Guide edited by Neal H. Haskell and E. Paul Catts, is a compilation of information collected from well known experts in the field of forensic entomology. In addition to editing the text, several chapters were written by the editors. Their work as well as the other contributing writers' works is well written and organized and the manual is superbly illustrated with line drawings. The introductory chapter covers background information on terminology, definitions, and educational requirements for those who practice medicolegal or forensic entomology. Also, the manual contains historically significant entomological research that provides a foundation for applying its techniques to legal investigations. Concise case histories are used to illustrate how insects significantly contribute to criminal investigations. The manual describes some basic structural biology, metamorphic processes, habitats, and other environmental factors that affect the development of forensically important arthropods. There is an excellent discussion of blow fly development and how it may be used as a time of death indicator. In addition, entomological data analysis from evidence collected at the scene is discussed. Some information regarding death scene procedures, security and the treatment of evidence is covered as well. Proper collection techniques and preservation methods are discussed and also given is a detailed list of materials and equipment needed by the investigator. Useful reference information such as several formulas for mixing standard killing and preserving solutions are discussed. Also, presented are laboratory procedures for raising insect larvae. The manual concludes with some information on ethics, guidelines for testifying in court and a helpful glossary complete with numerous references cited. This manual is an exemplary text, and I would highly recommend it for police officers, crime scene technicians, investigators, medical examiners, and forensic scientist. Presently, published information on forensic entomology is extremely limited. This manual definitely fills a void in the field of forensic entomology.

Hard to Find!
It took me a couple years to get this book since it was out of print and all. Glad I found it. Great guide and actually some very good reading. This book made me reconsider getting back into this field. Scraping maggots off the dead can be fun!

it just makes sense
As my husband and I read through the book, we realized it made a lot of sense to gather experiences from others. These people have made a work at home career workable. Paul and Sarah show us how to think on our feet, keep things in order, be flexible and get the kids involved too. We really appreciate all of the recommendations throughout the book. These are a huge source of unbelievable resources right at the finger tips. We are very anxious to go to the recommended websties, and of course, read the books. The three books that we have already purchased and are extremely pleased with are Getting Publicity, by Tana Fletcher, How to Raise a Family and a Career Under One Roof, by Lisa Roberts and Mommy-CEO, (Constantly Evaluating Others)5 Golden Rules, Revised Edition, by Jodie Lynn. So far, these three books have helped to pinpoint daily stress factors involving a business and last but certianly not least, kids in the home. There are many others listed which we are sure will be extremely useful in the big picture of things to come. In our experience, we have learned it doesn't matter how successful we'd like to be, but instead, getting the right answers for the right challenge and then making it workable for the family. As the authors say, if there are kids around, get them involved in either the business or other activities so work can be completed. This is a true statement especially if children are underfoot for the biggest part of the day. For the best use of our time on a daily basis, we know it's mandatory that parenting skills are sharp and respect is working on both ends of the spectrum. This book has almost every answer to every question entreprneurs wonder about. If there is any stone left unturned, it can surely be found in one of the many other recommended books or websites. Totally cool and it just makes sense.

Thinking of starting a business? Then buy this book!
I had bought Paul and Sarah Edwards book "How To Make Money in Cyberspace" several years ago when I first had the concept of my business... and I owe it all to Paul and Sarah for passing along their knowledge to make this business the success that it is. I only wish that "The Entrepreneurial Parent" had been published at that time as well. I would have saved myslef a lot of time and mistakes along the way as far as running a business from home with a small child. This book is cram packed full of advice, resources, techniques and real life examples. I can attest to all the book has to offer having gone through the process myself. Thank you Paul and Sarah for publishing such a valuable resource. I highly reccommend buying this book along with their other book "How To Make Money in Cyberspace" if you are thinking of starting an on-line business.

WOWWIE! Paul and Sarah, you've got a hit here!
Simply said, if you are a working parent, you've got to get this book! This book is BRILLIANTLY written - what a joy to read! Aside from the how to basics, you can tell that Paul and Sarah have really done their homework -- it's loaded with facts. This book features profiles of 111 entrepreneurs who spill the beans of what it's like in their careers, including a job description, their industry insight, marketing tips, and top revenue streams. Paul and Sarah paint a real picture of what it's like to work from home. They show that entrepreneurs defined success in terms of quality of life, rather than dollars earned. For many, it's a trade off that is well worth it for more time with the kids and a richer life. They offer extensive coverage of insurance options for the self-employed. Other topics include childcare options, how to handle summer vacations, and involving the family in your business.

Facing Death : The Deep Calling to the Deep

A must read for all, especially young adults.
When I received the book written by my nephew, Dr. Paul Smith, I was immediately curious about the last part of the title, "The Deep Calling to the Deep". I soon found out by going to the Bible and reading Psalms 139 where David "praiseth God for his allseeing providence". God's knowledge was too powerful for David to absorb; however for those facing death, this knowledge or wisdom is acquired and responds to the "Deep" inside of themselves -----it is "Soul Talking".

Dr. Smith's close association with the six persons presented in the book has also led to support of their families and friends on their journey to death. His observations during the dying process will lend a means for our learning about our own death. All of the six people led productive lives; they acquired the tools to continue this progress into the next world. Dr. Smith states that ones attitude toward death is largely determined by the way one looks at life. The question is raised---'Is death the worst thing that can happen?" Black slaves knew death was not the worst thing that could happen and expressed this in their songs, which capture the spirit of the question.

Dr. Smith's book should be read by all ages, especially the youth. The book would help them understand that the purpose of their being on this earth is one of preparation (growth and development) for entrance into the spiritual world.

An intimate look at death by a theologian and pastor.
This book deals with the fact of death on an intimate, personal level. Paul Smith illustrates that a death is as individual as a life. His skill as a pastor gives us insight into ways we can help loved ones face death. His openness in describing the feelings he went through while being "in the moment" with dying friends is of benefit to any who are faced with the death of a loved one. And the way in which he frames death, as an integral part of life, is of benefit to all who seek wholeness in their own soul.

An uplifting and readable book for everyone.
This book makes us all think about our time on this Earth. It is not only for those who are in the process of dealing with a dying loved one or who have had to go through the death of a loved one, it is for the living. It makes us think about how we spend each day and more importantly how we interact with others each day. The stories are readable and engaging right away. It doesn't matter if the person is one of the famous ones discussed such as Arthur Ashe, or more unknown, you are immediately drawn into their story. A very valuable book not only for ministers and health professionals, but for the general public as well. It takes a hard subject and makes it accessible and uplifting.

An awesome experience
Did you ever have an epiphany? One of those episodes sort of like dumping out an unfamiliar jigsaw puzzle, looking at it, and suddenly knowing what the picture was without putting it together? Reading this book is like one of those moments. Superbly written, exotic, erotic, and speculative, it shines a (black) light in a few corners of Quantum physics and Behold! a glowing Elvis appears to explain a few things about life and love you never dreamed were possible. This is a book to be savoured, treasured, and re-read.

Fan-Shaped Destiney Challenges; Rewards Reader
You stand in a primeval forest of millions of acres. It is dark. All about you, unseen, stand trees which have stretched themselves heavenward for 50, 100, or more years, their younger offspring, and all the complex understory of a virgin forest. You shine your flashlight directly ahead, illuminating the base of a sequoia 100 feet in diameter. "This," you declare, "is reality." Only when the moon rises do you see that reality is more than what the flashlight's beam exposes. Those who delve into The Fan-Shaped Destiny of William Seabrook may find themselves lying awake in the dark forest of galaxies, pondering that vastness. That which is momentarily illuminated by the flickering light of consciousness is also not all of creation.Imagine the universe at the moment just before the Big Bang. NOW, it begins. Yet in an equal and opposite universe, it does not. As the first Big Bang moves into the second moment of cosmic time, another Big Bang occurs in that alternate universe. In a third, it does not; in a fourth, the first Big Bang collapses. At this very moment, NOW, somewhere, the Big Bang begins. In another, it does not, but will in the moment to come. The expanding universe implodes in another. And every variant conceivable by the cosmic consciousness that powers it all even now unfolds. What we choose to illumine with our consciousness is our reality, for good or ill. Knowing that there are timelines in which one is blind, or blonde, or amphibian, or in which one took a risk untaken in present reality, is primarily useful in developing empathy. And yet, if everything which can happen has, or will, or won't, then in some world one might remember an earlier life; might make choices based on remnant memory; might open a door and find one's first love waiting, unspoiled, unaware of one's shortcomings. FSD is fundamentally an exploration of consciousness and reality, cloaked in a time-spanning love story and a quest to expiate the guilt of insufficient love.In some "alternate histories," the South wins the U.S. Civil War, Nazi Germany triumphs in World War II, the Age of Dinosaurs continues, or aliens rule the worlds. Paul Pipkin shines his light closer to home, into the dark woods of the human heart and the universal desire to "do it over and get it right."FSD has no aliens, no men in black, and its voodoo priestesses appear only in past tense. Its significant action is in the minds of its characters; in FSD's reality, reaching a higher level of understanding is a climactic act which, in other books, would require an epic space battle. It is long, quirky, personal, has a big cast of characters, uses big words and is very complicated ‹ like life, like quantum mechanics, like love, like sci fi at its best.

A unique and wonderful book
Have you ever thought that you remembered something clearly, and then been confronted by facts which proved events could not possibly have happened exactly the way you remembered? Could things have happened differently in an alternate world? As incredible as the idea of parallel universes may seem, it is taken quite seriously by some physicists - could it be that events such as those described in this book might really happen?

If you like science fiction (or even if you don't), or mysteries, or love stories, you'll like this. The author's unique writing style perfectly sets the mood for this memorable and haunting book. Two warnings are in order: 1)this is aimed at an adult audience, and 2) this is not your typical "light" read - this book demands your attention, but the effort will be well rewarded. In fact, it's worth reading a second time just to make sure you didn't miss anything.
It's a wild ride that will leave you wondering about the nature of reality, but not wondering at all about the talent of this promising new author. Highly recommended.

Smash the Offender into the Dirt
As a second degree black belt, I know that it's training that matters. If your attacked, the first few seconds make all the difference. 1400 techniques bring you to the point of knowing the consequences of failure. It may be one technique in grained in your mind and body giving you a chance to escape. It will take every ounce of strength and courage for you to survive. "Fearless", opens your mind to the world of martial arts and street smarts. When two tigers fight one dies. If you learn one thing from this book it should be "Be Aware". Self safety is watching for signals, being aware of your risks, knowing the mind of the predator, and avoiding danger. Paul Danylewich book "Fearless" vividly wakes you up to the dangers on the street and violence that can happen within your home. Awareness means adding lights around your house, organize community watch groups, being assertive in meeting people (get to know at little about everyone new in your community), knowing escape routes to your safe room (reinforcing the structure), entering your home, answering the door, not being liberal in giving out private information on the phone, watching for behavior associated with a violent person, approaching your parked car, forcing bystanders involvement with an attack is underway, not getting out of the car if rearended, not getting out of the car with pulled over if isolated, running in pairs, personal safety on the elevator, taking money out of the atm, awareness about rape, things to watch for when you meet someone new, watching out for male pressure, the myths about rape, the dangers of drinking too much.

Assertive communication is the first line of defense. Offenders are motivated to control their victims. Its your job to prevent them from gaining this control. Strategies include: passive resistence, assertive strategies, manipulation and negotiation, and physical resistence.

After nine years of MA study three fundamental stand out: palm strikes, elbow strike, and eye gouges are devastating. Controlling the offender to the ground puts him in the most vulnerable position possible because he can be stomped to death or permanently maimed. Chokes and submission techniques are effective, but stomps are deadly. Danylewich demostrate a series of physical resistence techniques: basic stances, palm strikes, palm heel, finger claws to the face, eye gouges, groin grab, forearm groin strike, and frontal and back elbow strikes. Groin kicks can sometimes make the opponent madder, instead kick the knee cap. Longer distance weapons are explored, such as, front snap kick, side kick, and back kick. The author effectively illustrates and describes techniques against front and back grabs, chokes, and hugs.

A Great Book for Women
This is really a wonderful book on how to protect yourself from violence. The author is really in touch with what women need to learn. FEARLESS is based on the idea that " Knowledge is Power" More women need to realize that they too can learn to recognize how violence can happen to them on a date, on the street, or anywhere else. I saw a terrific mini workshop that the author did at the public library in Cornwall, Ontario - and it was an eye-opener. I think every public, school and college library should have this book available for their female students. I think it can help keep them safe. Half of the book focuses on prevention and awarness strategies, while the later half deals with resistance techniques that are simple and easy to use. Way to Go!! If anyone is interested, I found the authors web-site...

We need to get this type of program in our high school today!!!

A necessity for all women!
A friend of mine lent me this book and I have to say, it is great! It gives so much information on how to prevent assaults! It provides tips on how to recognize a dangerous situation and how to act when confronted with one. I feel more empowered after having read this book. I know I learned things that may make a world of difference in my life!

Dynamic Physical Education
I have used this book for two years now and found it helpful with lots of practical information. Implementing the lessons will require the lesson plans(not included) to fully utilize the contents of the book. This book is Sport based and Standards based. There are 36 weekly lessons which gives the program lots of structure. The author assumes you have enough space (indoor & outdoor) to teach the program. The cost of equipment can be high although there is a pretty good section on "How to make your own" equipment. I believe this book is a good resource, chapters are organized and mirror the weekly lesson plan book.

Quality of Content.
I have this book, and really think that it has a vast ray of information that helps the Physical Education Teacher prepare a developmentally appropriate Lesson.

Belongs in every K-6 Teacher's Library
Horrified as I am with the outrageous price of textbooks, I do everything I can to find books that are as affordable as possible for my students. I have looked and looked for a textbook or combination of textbooks that cover this material as effectively as Pangrazi does. This is the best book out there. There's more in this book than the average classroom teacher in a school with a PE Specialist is ever going to need, but any teacher building his or her library should have this reference on hand. Gone are the days when the classroom teacher organizes many playground games (in fact, recess is sadly disappearing altogether in our area)but the sections on the Instructional Process, Personal Health Skills, Program Implementation and Wellness are going to be useful references for any K-9 teacher for years. I'm pairing it with Interdisciplinary Teaching through Physical Education, (1998, Human Kinetics). Once you start looking around, you'll find that this book is actually a real bargain.

"Famished Ravens Will Feed on the Flesh of Men"
Imagine a society in which someone gets really cheesed off about his neighbor and decides to bushwhack him, and maybe his whole family and his servants while they're at it. Forget the police, forget the army. There isn't any. If you're unhappy about this, you try to get your favorite chieftain to intervene. Of course you'd better have a whole bunch of armed followers to show that you mean business. You can bet the murderer will too as a matter of course. How you come off in this hypothetical society depends on how much influence you wield on your neighbors. If you're willing to go to bat for them -- and vice versa -- your power will increase. Unless, of course, someone decides to swing an axe at your hatrack in the meantime.

This is Medieval Iceland in the 13th century, when this and all the other great sagas were written. The EYRBYGGJA is one of the best of the sagas -- provided that you can handle all the genealogies. (Virtually all the people in the saga were real people; and many of today's Icelanders can trace their families back almost 1,000 years.)

If there is any hero in the EYRBYGGJA, it is Snorri the Priest. He manages to maintain his power despite several threats that unfold during the several generations of this story. At times, as in the case of the feud with Arnkel, Snorri seems to be in the wrong. But he is consistently faithful to his friends and therefore has no problem raising the forces to back up his position. His life bridges the conversion to Christianity in the year 1000: Snorri proves his adaptability by going from a priest of Thor to an advocate of the new religion. In all the Icelandic sagas I've read, most of the characters do not seem to be wholeheartedly committed to either the old or the new religion; but all are superstitious about the restless dead, which brings me to one of the most fascinating aspects of this saga: the ghost episodes that seem to proliferate. I particularly like Thorolf Twist-Foot, a disagreeable old man who keeps coming back from the dead and causing trouble -- which Snorri deals with in most inimitable fashion by holding an ancient legal proceeding called a "door court" to expel them.

My only criticism: This book needed a good set of maps for following the action. The lone map provided is inadequate.

Icelands Early Settlers
I have read a number of the Norse sagas and found this to be amongst the most interesting, from a story point of view. It is a little difficult to follow the relationship of the characters in the begining, however some of the tools that are provided are very useful in sorting out who's who. For example a List Of Characters and their family relationships is provided at the start of the book and a glossary of personal names at the end.

I re-read the introduction after finishing the book and was satisfied that I had the full story (and history).

I agree with Sir Walter Scott's assessment that "Of all the various records of Icelandic history and literature, there is none more interesting than Eyrbyggja Saga."

icelandic lore
this is one of the most unusual of the sagas, full of drama and characters, and as immediate and clear as if it were written yesterday. a profound and grateful salaam to herman palsson for translating so many of these wonderful medieval stories!

Fascinating Read
This book does a fantastic job of tracing the history of broadcasting of Irish football, both radio and television. The only criticism I have of it is that it sometimes repeats itself from chapter to chapter. It's almost as if the chapters were seperate articles, or part of a serialized presentation which naturally requires repetition to "update" the reader. This is a very minor problem, however, which is vastly overshadowed by the depth of the research. It would have been nice to see an appendix that listed the various broadcasts by medium and by announcer(s) but this may very well be impossible considering the "open" policy that Notre Dame had in the early days, where anyone could broadcast if they had the equipment. A great work that I would not hesitate getting for anyone with an interest in Notre Dame or college football in general. Some who do not like Notre Dame may not feel that the book is objective enough to be a true "history" of college football broadcasting, but if they do not like Notre Dame, they probably can't read anyway (he says with tounge planted firmly in cheek.)

A "touchdown" for Dr. Gulifor!
This may be one of the best books on sports broadcasting ever written. Dr. Gulifor covers The Fighting Irish on air like a late afternoon fog covers South Bend in November. Great oral histories with some of the key personnel of Notre Dame broadcasts. The is a well researched book, and one that both scholars of broadcasting and football fans will appreciate.

Educational Value - Built In !
I picked up this book as another Notre Dame book for a Notre Dame fan, however, I received both a "really enjoyable read" and an education. This book is not my typical read. This book is an excellent reference to the history NCAA Football broadcasting, even if you are not an IRISH fan, and might even adjust your thoughts about Notre Dame with respect to their history and recent actions with NBC.
