Wallace Bruce is the pen name of Roy Bridge's Joe Smith. When Mr Smith was a college lecturer, he took a group of students to the USA as guests of Neil Armstrong, and then began his interest in the eighteenth-century American hero.

John Paul was a gardener's son in Scotland, went to sea as a cabin boy and quickly became a Merchant Navy captain. When he was twenty-eight he changed his name to Jones, following the killing of a mutineer off Tobago. He then made his way to Philadelphia and joined the infant American Navy, rising to the rank of Captain by the start of the War of Independence. As well as harassing British shipping, he became famous for leading his men in the raid on the UK mainland at Whitehaven.

The author described all this, Jones's promotion to Commodore, his responsibility for organising the new navy, and his later work for Russia, with admirable respect for the facts along with the ability to pull the reader into sharing Jones's life under sail and in battle.

A great deal of research has obviously been carried out, but Mr Smith still manages to carry the story along in a lively fashion.

John Phillips provides great insight into some of the most difficult prophetic and eschatological passages of the scriptures. I have never before read a work of such clarity that brings together many of the threads of prophesy running throughout the old and new testaments.

This is a must read for any christian looking to understand and be prepared for the events that will soon take place.

If you enjoy the thrill and horror, the excitement and the plot twists of the talented John Saul, then you should read this book. Not only is it intriguing and informative, but it gives you real insight to the man himself and where his inspiration comes from. The author, Paul Bail, has chosen a collection of Saul's work and has provided the reader with a real understanding of each selected novel. Not only is this book fascinating for Saul fans, it is a wonderfully written study for fans of the macabre.

He has reached for the outer limits and grasped the totality of his state of existence. Paul Somers is a teacher that knows no bounds and a talent that needs the exposure that he has lacked for far too long. Pure genius that has yet to be fvered

A good introduction to Muller-Brockmanns work, the book takes us from his very early works to later exhibitions and poster design. It even mentions 'Grid Systems', which I am a firm disciple of. Graphic Design is a subject of which to have strong oppionions and Lars Muller has just that. I enjoyed his comments in the preface which were valid and sound. All in all an important walk through past design, which should stay contemparay for times to come.

This book contains all of the corrections Joseph Smith made in his new translation of the Bible. The 1979 version of the Bible that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints uses has most of the best changes, but not all. This book fills in the gap.

It has a user-friendly format that focuses only on the revised verses. Each page is a double column, with the JST on the left-hand column, and the KJV version on the right-hand column. Be cautious--sometimes Jospeh Smith only corrected the punctuation in a verse.

It has introductory essays about how we got the Joseph Smith Translation. Admittedly, they are written from the point of vierw of the Community of Christ (the new name for the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), but they are helpful in any case.

I use this version since it has what I need where I need it.

This was the first book on Josephus that I have read. The reason I selected this edition over other full length, unabridged versions is that it looked a lot less intimidating (I get shivers down my spine when I think that I am going to have to read through an encyclopedia length tome from cover to cover). My hunch was rewarded with a well organized version that is very easy to read and understand. It covers the essentials of "Jewish Antiquities" and "The Jewish War" in a way that allows you to read through it fairly quickly without having to ponder very long what you have read. The only difficulty I encountered was to keep straight in my mind the family relationships of the nobility in "The Jewish War". Although it is still a fairly long read, I recommend it to anyone who is just starting their studies on Josephus.

Léautaud belongs to a family of writers who prefer to write diaries than novels. Because in a diary you will always find more stories, more life, more humanity than in any novel: the density of information is so much greater. If the purpose of a book is to provide excitement and pleasure try Leautaud. Paul Léautaud's Journal Littéraire is funny, witty, mean, tender, old fashion and very modern at the same time. It could last for several more thousands of pages, it is never boring and you are very sad when you reach the end : it feels like you are losing your best friend: you have seen him getting older and older and still he retains his unmistakable wit and humor. What makes him modern is his naturalness. He speaks his mind with an unbelievable freedom. There is no comparison with great memorialists of his time, like André Gide or Maurice Martin du Gard. They write like the very guarded bourgeois that they are. Léautaud is not playing the role of a writer: he is himself. He cannot separate the man from the writer, that's why he is so human, so genuine and so interesting. He doesn't disguise himself: he speaks his mind. Fortunately he has the talent of saying things with a unique tone: this is what differentiates him from lesser writers. He doesn't care about the way he looks or sounds. Freedom is more important to him than anything else. He has a style which is his, 100%. He is simple, writes extremely short sentences. He has a tone that you recognize immediately. He is a misanthrope and he lives surrounded by dozens of cats and dogs. He will make you laugh and make you cry. If you are interested in the french litterary life of the first half of the 20th century, Léautaud is a goldmine. He was living amongst writers, humble and famous. He hated boring writers and boring litterature: fresh, natural, original; this is what he liked. As someone said he is the ultimate writer for writers. And yet I introduced some of his books to friends not at all versed in autobiography and they really enjoyed him.

This story of Christ is lovingly told using words carefully chosen to reach the heart of a child. The journey's beautiful illustrations captivate the reading audiance while complimenting the thoughtful text. Additional explanations are given to highlight Bible times, and to further relate them to current life. This book makes a wonderful additon to the library of any 8 - 12 year old.
