Dr. Quinnett, reading your book makes one feel that they are sitting in an office and listening to your words with comfort. I believe that this is due to your understanding and care for this illness. In the near future, I will be volunteering and participating in a research project on antidepressants. I look forward for future writings from you not only for myself but for many others who are fighting the "beast". I thank you.

I downgraded the score mostly due to the typos in the code like missing quotes and such. The section on Frames gives step by step instructions but leaves out a vital part while not explaining things very well. The book was obviously never proofed by someone who didn't know the subject and that is the target audience. It's not an HTML book, but if the instructions are there, they should be correct.
The sample code is available from a web site and the first one I copied did not work due to careless typos in the script code. I found it highly annoying.
I'd recommend it to anyone trying to get up to speed on VBScript. (As an ASP developer, I find it invaluble.)

The one area where this book stands out (and my reason for purchasing it a while back) is that it focusses on the pelvic tilt associated with improper ab development. For about $... it might be worth it just for this information.
The downside is that this book is out of date. Swiss balls are the current rage in ab developed and the book author has titles devoted entirely to this subject, yet they aren't mentioned once.

In our class, it became known as the "Heidegger Coloring Book", but others were eager to borrow my copy.
A good starting point, no matter how serious you are or are not.
It goes without saying that they're no substitute for the real thing. That's a given. But Heidegger is difficult. (Are as most of the philosophers that these books deal with. Anybody who says otherwise is lying -- or has read so much Heidegger that he/she has started to get brain-blur.)
The great thing about this Heidegger book (and all the books in the series) is that they present the key ideas in simple terms. And bear in mind that there's nothing wrong with simplicity. Good 'simplicity' is a lot more difficult than one might think. Writing simply and thinking critically is what these books are all about -- and for these reasons, I can't recommend them enough.
I'm a few years out of graduate school, so I feel myself 'out of the loop.' These books are a great way to refresh key concepts, get a good solid fix on Heidegger's so-called project, and give you space enough to dive in (or at least poke about) in 'Being and Time'.
Plus, they make Heidegger's difficult ideas ('Being' 'Dasein') accessible -- and, quite frankly, that's what learning (and reading) is all about. Yeah, they're no substitute for the real thing -- and anyone who thinks otherwise is sorely mistaken -- but they're great contextualizers -- and for that reason, they're quite valuable.
Besides, everybody has hang-ups about the 'difficulty' of modern philosophy. What these books do is to say: Look, the ideas *are* difficult -- don't kid yourself -- but just because they're difficult doesn't mean they should be *inaccessible*.
And that's what you want a good teacher to say, right? You want someone to clomp you on the back, tell you not to worry, and assure that if you just keep at it -- keep reading, keep grappling -- you'll do fine. That's what these books do. They're the teacher clomping you on the back, telling you not to worry.

Furthermore, since the reader has no other option but to look up the English translation of Japanese words in Furiganga, there is constant Kana practice inherent in the design of the book. From an educator's standpoint, that is a very positive reinforcement tool for first and second year students who might still have trouble with Kana.
Nevertheess, I only wish this dictionary were more comprehensive for advanced students of the language.
Unfortunately, all of the dictionaries I found were either "romanized" (a step backwards once kana has been learned), lacking an adequate base of intelligent vocabulary, or filled with advanced kanji intended for native speakers.
I was thrilled to find this excellent "furigana" dictionary by Kodansha. Furigana (small kana printed above the kanji entries which allow even beginning students to read the Chinese characters) has been provided for each entry. This was exactly what I'd been looking for.
The 16,000-word basic vocabulary has proven a great starting point for my studies, and I've come to rely on this book as a vital supplement for conversation, homework and continuing studies. Sensical definitions in clear English, along with sample sentences in modern Japanese makes this dictionary indispensible. The publisher's companion volume, "Kodansha's Furigana English-Japanese Dictionary," is also highly recommended. Both books feature a basic grammar explanation and useful index containing "counters" and other related information.
In Tokyo, I was able to get the 1997 and 1998 editions, respectively, for each volume, and they're both soft cover editions--a plus over the hard cover versions. Overall, a must have for all beginning to intermediate students of Japanese.

This title presents an overview of the philosophy of the founders of one of the largest privately owned companies in the US and the world. They are successful people who explain how one might be a success as well.
I've also noticed that most of the negative reviews for this title do not address the content of this title. Whereas, those who enjoyed it comment on the content. Interesting, wouldn't you say?
The book is written clearly while maintaining the focus on encouragement and reaching one's goals.
Good read even if you aren't saving money with Amway. They have a sister company called Quixtar. Very similar philosophy and quality products. Quixtar was founded in 1999 and is also privately owned. This philosophy works!
