Learn to Do More than Just "Feel It in Your Heart!"
Relating his own personal feelings to the everyday life that we the readers experience is the foundation on which the approach to Heartstorming is built. Throughout this wonderful book, Father Keenan is not only speaking to each reader individually --- he is listening, using examples from real-life situations. This is a unique spiritual lesson book. Father Keenan employs a different method from his previous two books, as we get a more-focused perception of the man behind the writing. This exceptional personal touch will help strengthen one's mind and soul --- and ultimately one's heart --- on what could otherwise be a lonely and futile search. You'll find yourself somewhere on these pages, and discover your own strengths and weaknesses on a journey toward complete spirituality as you come to an understanding and fulfillment of what it really means to not only "feel it in your heart," but to live it and share it from there.

A Book with Heart and Soul
Heartstorming is that wonder of writing - a book that informs as well as entertains. Fr. Keenan has a rare ability to interleave religious and philosophical ideas with anecdotes in a down to earth, easy to read manner. He develops an approach to grappling with life's problems based on listening to your heart and following simple rules to grow emotionally and spiritually. A great book for all who are interested in rising above the fray and fully developing their humanity - and spirituality.

Very enjoyable - great sequel that can stand alone!
The Heiress Bride introduces you to Lady Rosaleen Sarant of Seire who has been beaten into unconsciousness by her legal guardian her Uncle Anslem. Her uncle is forcing her to wed a man, although a noble, who has paid a high price for the very beautiful heiress but he is known to be foul, uncouth and an abuser of women.

By disguising herself as a common woman, Rosaleen makes good on her escape. She is about to be assaulted by those thinking she was a common strumpet when she sought shelter at an inn. Hugh Caldwell, not a Knight, although he had been asked many times by the King to be Knighted, notices her plight and through quick thinking saves her from that mess. She begs him for an escort to get her to London, and he has no intention of going there but relents and will bring her to his brother who he's sure will get her there.

Here then, evolves the story of the man saving the woman and the woman saving the man. This is a sequel to the Bride's Portion, although the story is so well written it stands extremely well on it's own. It is a story of selfless love, and the compromises that can be made when people love and trust one another. Rosaleen keeps her secret, even from the man she loves, knowing she could be killed if her Uncle or her betrothed find her. Hugh denies who he is and must come to terms with his past, swallow his pride, and forgive the father he felt betrayed him.

This truly is a wonderful story with a lot of emotion, human kindness, humor, and above all love. Terrific sequel, but can definitely stand alone. Well worth your while to try to obtain a copy of this out of print book.

VERY GOOD MEDIEVAL STORY!
This is a very heartwarming story about a knight, Hugh, and a beautiful young lady, Rosaleen. Hugh is charged with the duty of escorting Rosaleen (also a great heiress) to court unharmed.

After spending 12 years fighting for England and seeing many a horror, he knew at their first meeting that sweet and innocent Rosaleen was a prize worth protecting. And, if he could just convince her -- to stand by his side, forever & that her lands mean little to a man such as he.

Touching book - on my keepers shelf!

invaluable guidance for one of life's worst tragedies
This book, written by a research psychologist and based on interviews with couples who lost a child, offers wise advice in everyday language rather than abstract jargon. While there are other useful guides available, they deal with each survivor on an individual basis. However, each parent may have different ways of coping which also procede at different rates. The present book is especially valuable because it focuses on the problems that death of a child might generate between the parents and offers (not imposes) advice to help the couple deal with their mutual loss. Of course, I do not presume to know how this book would affect other parents who lost a child but based on my own personal experience of such a loss, I can attest that it was very constructive positive counsel.

Author's Description of the Book
This is my author's view of the book: Many parents who have experienced the death of a child struggle with painful and at times almost overwhelming marital problems. Grieving can create great marital distance, and it can magnity couple problems that existed before the child died. Grieving parents often fear that they will divorce. Most books that have been written to help grieving parents focus on individual, personal grief. This book focusses on the couple relationship. Based on intensive interviews of 29 couples who experienced the death of a child, the book offers perspectives, insights, powerful and moving interview quotes, and advice dealing with common marital problems experienced by bereaved parents. Commonly the problems are connected to couple communication, differences in grieving and how those differences are interpreted, sexuality, parenting of other children, the use of alcohol and drugs, blaming, differences about whether to have another child, differences in whether to go outside the marriage for support, and what to do with things and spaces that were the child's. This book discusses hard realities but offers a message of hope. Grieving parents can and do overcome marital difficulties and achieve a strong and loving marriage based on resepect for differences, mutual understanding, and their shared history.

FINALLY----a long, gorgeous, color-photo Richardson book!!
This is just the kind of big, sumptuous, exhaustive book that Richardson has always deserved. Part coffee-table book, part monograph----entertaining, informative, great to look through. I grew up near Boston and Richardson's churches, train depots, and libraries were a part of the background until I took a close look at Trinity Church and realized that the same person who designed THAT designed all these other structures as well. Richardson not only revived Romanesque architecture but pointed the way to modernism. He was a pivotal figure who didn't live long enough. This well-produced book does him justice.

Quintessential Richardson
Anyone interested in Romanesque architecture and American architecture would be interested in this book. The quality of the images are outstanding as is the text. The book describes Richardson's complete artistic career and his numerous buildings in New England, Chicago, and throughout the U.S.

Highly personal but insightful looks at Camp and Cult Films
I was checking this book out of the Duluth Public Library when the guy behind the counter thanked me because he was the author. You have to admit, this is not a usual experience, which works out fine because this is not a usual book. Paul Roen's Introduction on "Camp, Cult and Cinema" provides a very useful look at the meaning of gay camp within the context of specific genres. So that what is gay camp in melodrama is not the same as when you are looking at an action film or western. "High Camp" professes to be a "handy guide to cinematic perversity and the very best in movie bad taste." Roen reviews several hundred films in the most personal terms, telling us not only what he did or did not like but also who and sometimes even how. This is conversational criticism, so do not thumb through these pages looking for academic pretentiousness. Here you will find the films of Garbo, Dietrich, Crawford, Davis and Garland, with Steve Reeves, Guy Madison and James Dean thrown in for good measure, with numerous photos of the various stars. I am currently working my way through the Bette Davis oeuvre and I have to admit Roen gave me some new insights into many of her films. But this is a book that reviews "Queen of Outer Space," "Pink Flamingos" and "Glen or Glenda," which end up being much more interesting to read about than the more recognizable camp/cult classics such as "All About Eve" and "The Gang's All Here" (the one where Carmen Miranda sings "The Lady in the Tutti Frutti Hat"). There is a second volume of "High Camp," but, of course, I cannot check it out until the author is behind the counter again.

Capsules of gay-related cult and camp films.
Paul Roen put together these witty summaries of favorite campy and cult films with memorable commentary on their subtext. Think of it as a humorous companion to Russo's "The Celluloid Closet." I've read and reread this book many times, and it never fails to make me laugh out loud.

In the introduction the author invited readers to submit their suggestions for inclusion in a second volume. I've never found such, though I have looked. If you find any other similar works by Mr. Leyland I would appreciate it if you would drop me a line. The publisher, Leyland Publications, is apparently not online -- and this type of book is not their core business, since the other titles featured in the order ad in the back advertises "Milkin' the Bulls." I need some of that.

Carus, Paul: The History of The Devil And The Idea of Evil
Very informative. I am surprized this book is not more popular, it should be. It is packed with information that is surprizing to most readers. Very well researched.

Bedeviled by the Devil
I picked this book up at Tower Books and Records in 1994,in Fresno, California. They had all this esoteric stuff in that store. What a find! An historical overview of the Devil, from all perspectives, from all religious angles. With this book, and Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer's SATAN, what more could you ask for?! Heaven on earth ... uh, rather Hell on earth, in a heavenly fashion.

Buy this book. Then pick up a copy of Carus' VENUS, An Archaelogical Study of Woman. And stand in awe.

Hilariously funny!
Orbiting the G2 star, Brackney's Star III, is the earthlike planet Toka. And, inhabiting the world of Toka are the Hoka, a small, teddy bear-looking race, who are surprisingly strong for their size. Unfortunately their longsuffering human plenipotentiary, Alexander Jones, the Hoka are the most imaginative race in the galaxy, as soon as they discover a new book of fiction, they adopt the roles and live the story...invariably with comedic results!

This book is a collection of short stories about the Hoka and the unfortunate Alexander Jones. Each story is literally laugh-out funny, and the illustrations peppered throughout add a lot to the humor of this wonderful book. With most short story collection there are good and not-so good stories, well that is not the case with this book, they are all hilarious. This is a great book, one that I highly recommend to everyone!

In case you are curious, there are 2 stories in this book. #1) Joy in Mudville tells the story of the Hoka baseball team (the Teddies), and their quest for the Sector Pennant. (No one can stand before the Mighty Casey, right?) #2) Undiplomatic Immunity finds Alexander Jones and a delegation of Hokas on Earth to request that Toka's status be upgraded. Unfortunately for Jones his Hokas have discovered the spy novel! #3) Full Pack (Hokas Wild) describes what happens when the Hokas discover the Jungle Books, and meet up with a group of aliens that look like a tiger, a gorilla and a snake (or should I say Shere Khan, the Banderlog, and Kaa?). #4) In the Napoleon Crime, Hokas across the planet are suddenly introduced to military history with potentially disastrous consequences; can Jones save the day yet again? #5) The Bear That Walks Like a Man is not a Hoka story per se, but a faux-leftist intellectual's look at the Hoka.

Teddy bears and SF
If you like teddy bears and science fiction you will love "Hoka". Hoka is a planet discovered by Earth explorers whose inhabtants look exactly like teddy bears. Anderson and Dickson use this premise to expound on human legends and tall tales with hilarious results. A must read.

God Bless This Company!
I am a loyal user of Newman's Own and Newman's Own Organics. This is a fun cookbook. My daughter and I enjoyed making the Jack in the Beanstalk Soup. It is nice to have a cookbook including so many of the Newman products. Lemonade Chicken Wings? Very tasty and a nice variety from the spicy.

Congratualtions Mr Newman. I hope this book makes the kids a lot of money!
