Inspirational
As a writter this book opens up many diffrent forms of writting styles to experiment with. This is my favortie poetry book and it is filled with poems for what ever mood you may be in. Anyone that loves poetry or loves to read should own a copy of this book.

enlightening, uplifting
A deeply informative and devoted anthology, containing some of the best poetry written in America. The detailed author biographies and extensive sections on poetics are a delight, such a rarity! The rich and powerful voices of postmodern American poets -- be they from any cultural background -- can be found here. An anthology that has become my inspiration in many ways -- to read it is to feel inspired to write, as well. Paul Hoover's selection is impeccable, and uplifting.

To date the best anthology I have on the subject.

one of the must-have anthologies
For anyone interested in postmodern poetry or for those who want to learn what postmodern poetry is, this is the anthology to have. It's loaded with some of the best poets: the gifted Robert Duncan, Ferlinghettis (one of the best of the beat poets), Bukowski (my first intro to him, and not a dissapointment), Levertov, Kenneth Koch (not his best poems, but still a good selection), the wonderful poetry of Frank O'Hara, Ginsberg, Robert Creely (and excellent selection), a selection from Ashbery so huge that i almost forgot i wasn't reading one of his books, the awesome Gary Snyder, Rothernberg's "Cokboy", Dave Trinidad, Paul Hoover, Wanda Coleman, Charles Olson, Kerouac, Philip Whalen, Corso, Amiri Baraka, Diane di Prima, Anne Waldman, and many others, including a very strong Chicago appearance towards the end.

The anthology starts with an essay by Hoover, which helps to clear up many questions about what postmodern poetry is and what many of the schools are. He concludes the anthology with a selection of essays on poetry.

Open a new door to your life
This book opens a new door to your life. It shows us how interpersonal interaction can be very simple if you grasp a few basic things. This book has made my relationships simple and easy. If you are having trouble with relationships, read this book! And when you are ready for one more step, read "Rhythm, Relationships, and Transcendence" by Toru Sato. This book will take you one step further in your development!

One of the best on human interaction
This book is one of the best on human interaction. It shows us why we fall into certain patterns and end up trapped in our own interaction cycles. If you are looking for insight about what is really going on in relationships, this is a great book. It is slightly technical but the majority is understandable to most people without much expertise in communication or psychology. A book that is even more understandable and insightful is Rhythm, Relationships, and Transcendence by Toru Sato. Both authors are excellent and are forerunners in the field of relationships right now. I'd recommend both very much!

If understood deeply, this could save you a lot of grief
This book has had a profound influence on my life. Not a day goes by that I do not use the knowledge of interactional patterns that I gleaned from Watzlawick et al. I have used these concepts in my therapy practice, in everyday life, in fights with my wife, and in understanding both historical and current world events. The writing is clear and understandable. The concepts are elegant. This is a must read for any student of human behavior.

Predatory Dinosaurs of the World

Predatory Dinosaurs of the World
With an absolute minimum of hyperbole and a maximum of solid research, technical expertise, working theories and a good, solid mastery of biomechanics and anatomy/physiology (not to mention Comparative Anatomy), Greg Paul's "Predatory Dinosaurs of the World" is an absolute necessity for every dinophile in existence: It should be compulsory reading for all - professionals and non-professionals alike.
The articulate, yet understandable language in which it is written coupled with the clarity and accuracy of the anatomical diagrams and lively illustrations bring the book alive and allows the reader to come many steps closer to understanding the majestic and sometimes bizarre predators of Mesozoic Earth.
This is one book which needs to be SERIOUSLY put back into production . . . . . . . . immediately; if not sooner

A book of great ideas and technical expertise!
This is a must for the dinosaur maven, the biomechanic and the professional paleontologist. Gregory Paul is one of those all too rare scientists who is a superb illustrator and artist. He brings his intimate familiarity with fossils to a disciplined imagination and careful documentation. The result is one of the best dinosaur books ever. By the way, what is the similarity among a tyrannosaur, a horse and an ostrich? You have to buy the book to find out...

A must for the serious dinosaur enthusiast
Never before have I read such a comprehensive study of dinosaur anatomy and behavior as was compiled for this book. Where most books (even Bakker's _The Dinosaur Heresies_) on serious dinosaur studies borrow from the past to complete a picture of the present theories of dinosaurs, Paul literally threw everything out the window and started from scratch to put together new theories of lines of evolution, dinosaur locomotion, and even going so far as to build a completely new system of taxonomy for the great beasts. Some of his thoughts are sadly mistaken, but the rest of this book is such a gem that it should be on all paleontologist's shelves.

Pricing and Hedging Swaps

This book is Proper
In all my years of experience, I have never encountered a more helpful book in understanding the financial derivatives. Having gone countless rounds with the market in the past, I can safely say that everyone can use something like this in his/her corner. Dodging blows, keeping loose and flexible and countering with devastating shots are all fundamental in success in this business and Mr. Miron comes through with a training program that is second to none. I think that it is interesting to note that the authors are not focused on just finance and have interests completely outside of banking. As a matter of fact, I have had the pleasure to Mr. Miron and have actually heard him play in a band years ago. I must say that the man plays a mean guitar.

Capitalism brought to life in Technicolor.
Economic theory being a sort of hobby of mine, I couldn't help but notice this particular work. I have written a book myself of which I was quite proud, but this one just blew me out of my grave. I think that after reading this brilliantly written piece that I am completely turned around on the issue of economics. Perhaps flinging around finicncial derivatives is the way forward.

My only complaint is that the copy that I read was a photocopy. I find this distressing that there are so many photocopies of the work in circulation. As a distinguished writer myself, I, too, know the pains of not earning the residuals that are most deserved.

More pizazz than a Johnson Red Book
As a busy Central Banker, I have precious little time for truly entertaining reading. However, this book is a MUST for everyone involved in economic negotiations with Heads of State. It succintly and laboriously explains every aspect of the minutae of setting interest rate policies, issuing government debt and dealing with Presidents who can barely spell bond, let alone price a bermudan option on one. The only question I have is what is the Sterling thing that the authors go on about all the way through the book? Never heard of it.

Oh yeah, it also fits the annoying gap I have on the right hand nearside leg of my Central Banker-sized mahogany desk. Perrrrfect.

Now then.... back to annoying all those stoopid investment bankers.

This book helped me more than any other
I used the 23rd edition of Stobo for my internal medicine rotation as a 3rd year medical student and also as a quick reference for several other rotations. I think it is the best mid-size medicine text I have seen. The content is broken down into bite-size chunks that are easy to read in one sitting--the short chapters make it easier to retain the material. Each section begins with an introductory chapter that gives a concise overview of the approach to take when evaluating a problem with a particular organ-system. Each chapter also ends with a list of summary points that are very helpful. Excellent tables are easy to reference. The actual information contained in the book is in more than enough depth for MS3 level, and the text emphasizes pathophysiology in many chapters, which helped me learn to integrate what I had learned in basic sciences and apply it to seeing patients in the clinical setting. The last section also has some good summary chapters for things that fall outside the realm of each organ-system section. This is a truly outstanding book. I highly recommend it, and I can't wait for the next edition.

Great Internal Medicine resource
Easy to read, contains pertinent info in a concise fashion. Great to study from, easily read during a clerkship.

Great for 3rd year medical students
I started my 3rd year medicine rotation with Appleton and Lange's Current Medical Diagnosis and Therapy but soon found this book to be more appropriate. It clearly and concisely explained pathophysiology of disease as well as clinical aspects, such as presentation, diagnosis and treatment. I also really enjoyed how each organ system began with a general approach to the patient. I am now using this books counterpart for my surgery rotation.

Wonderful reading for all guitar enthuiasts.
In The PRS Guitar Book, Dave Burrluck describes in detail the evolution of PRS Guitars, the renowned company founded by expert guitar maker Paul Reed Smith in 1985. The PRS Guitar Book showcases every artistic and technical facet of these exquisite instruments that sold to an enthusiasts clientele for $2000 and up. The PRS Guitar Book is enhanced with lavish color photography, anecdotes and reminiscences from Smith, famous guitarists, and PRS employees, collectors and fans. The PRS Guitar Book is highly recommended, wonderful reading for all serious guitar enthusiasts, professional or amateur.

Highly recommended for dedicated guitarists.
This numbered limited edition may not reach all audiences but it provides an excellent survey of the PRS guitar built by Smith for a range of famous players. Gorgeous full-page color photos abound as do engrossing technical explanations of the guitar's development and history. Chapters covering construction techniques are particularly involving. Highly recommended: any avid guitar player who appreciates books on guitar making should have this keepsake edition, enclosed in a handsome slipcase.

Beautiful and informative
This is a very beautiful book - beautiful in itself and the PRS guitars showcased here. The photographs are large and clear. The PRS models are comprehensive. The quality of the book is very good. It's large-sized and it's thread bound in the spine. Unlike those bound with heat glue, this book will surely last. According to the publisher's information, it's a limited edition in quantities of 6000 only. This is a book that a PRS guitar owner should consider buying. For those who admire the workmanship and the beauty of quality guitars, this is a very good book to read. Shortcomings: the photos are up to a professional standard, but many of them are accompanied with a white bar in the upper body of the guitar due to shinny reflection. This effect can illustrate how shinny the guitar can be, but can be quite obstructive to the eyes. A final word of caution: Beware of the temptation that one would buy a PRS guitar right after reading this book - which can be far more expensive than the book itself!

All-Time best field guide
This book is by far the best book I have read on identification of psilocybian mushrooms. It has good information as well as some interesting perspectives on psilocybes. A must have for anyone who is serious about this stuff!

Photos and descriptions are great for identification.
This book is a must for any enthusiest of Magic Mushrooms. The Photographs and detailed descriptions of the various species make this book a definite must for anyone wanting to identify Magic mushrooms, including deadly look alikes. The book is a complete guide, from history, experiences and all relative information that you could want. Paul Stamet's is "The Man" of mushrooms and a lot of his time and effort has gone into making this book factual and interesting. Hope you enjoy this book a much a I have.

The best Guide available
Sponges, jellyfish, flat worms, crustaceans, mollusks, star fish, if it is not a fish then it is in this book. This is the authoritative reference for reef creatures (other than fish) throughout the Florida, Caribbean and Bahamas area. The most complete book on reef creatures that I have seen, it is easy to use and beautifully illustrated. Each creature has it's own full color picture along with a line drawing that points out the defining characteristics of that particular species. With a plastic cover and the pages treated to resist water it can be taken to the beach or onto the boat without much concern about the water damaging the book.

Each entry has complete information on the creature from size, depth, range and habitat to the level of concern that a diver should have for their safety around the creature. Whether you snorkel, scuba dive or engage in other activities around a reef, this is the best book to have to identify reef creatures. This book can also be purchased as part of a three part set that also includes the Reef Coral Identification and Reef Fish Identification texts, each of which is equally as excellent as the Reef Creature Identification book.

The FINEST identification book out there!
This is a fantastic book, and along with the other two books by this author you should be able to ID any marine creature you encounter!

The book lists virtually all types of creatures including anemones, barnacles, jellyfish, flatworms, crabs, shrimp, octopuses, urchins, and much, much more!

Each entry has an excellent picture, the name, family, size, depth, and other detailed information.

The pictures alone are worth the cost of the book!

This is definitely the book you want to have with you when you dive or snorkel. Buy it today, you won't be disappointed!

Indispensable identification book for divers
I have been diving for over ten years and I have made many small errors. Not having this book at the onset has been a very major error. Many times you come to the surface wondering what you have seen. Without this book you leave the reef still wondering about the natural contacts you have just experienced. A must buy for the beginning and advanced divers library.

Third Edition Builds on Success of First and Second
As an owner of the second edition, I looked forward to the revised update. The quality of the information is high. However, I was disappointed in the quality of the publication. Some of the graphs and charts seemed "muddy" with hard to read notations. Also, the binding and paper quality seemed to have slipped a little. This seems to be a trend. I own a number of texts from the 1950's. Their binding and paper quality is much better than that used today.

Pump Handbook
Handbook is a term which implies comprehensive coverage of a given subject, so often a term which is misapplied. Not so in this case however, this book is without a doubt one of the best sources of information on pumps and related system components currently in print. For anyone requiring a comprehensive pump resource, this is it. I would definitely recommend this one for the engineering library.

Description corrections

The word is "splendiferous"
That's the word for this book: "spendiferous". What more can you say about a super-empowered pig with values to boot! I read this book with my kids, and it lead to a thoughtful discussion about moral values. One of them was suspicious at first about creatures from outer space with moral tales to tell, but he's come to accept the pig and what he stands for: America, I'm proud of you!

Fine readin'
I read this book here, and It made me squeal like a pig with delight at the madcap antics of Qunicy. He shur does make those kids seek the righteous path, and who better to know than a pig from outer space with supersonic and most excellent values!

I say "Buy it. Read it. Live it". Yepper!

Hooray for teaching kids about right and wrong!
The dog was cool (read the book!). This book is cool. The pig is ... well, a pig, albiet a very intelligent one. To heck with political correctness, here's a great, colorful, fun story that isn't afraid to demonstrate good values through actions. The story is quite good, and our kids love the illustrations. And for us, as parents, the best thing is that our kids see another example of judging right from wrong, how to act responsibly, why it's not okay to lie, and how to order a pizza from a cel-phone. Whimsical and funny, but more than just entertaining, reading this book is great learning for kids
