Bravo ASL Curriculum by Jenna Cassell
This book was an excellent resource to use on your own or in a classroom setting. I personally used it for a college course and I really think it is excellent! It not only shows you signing, it explicitly describes each each sign and gives you grammatical and cultural notes on Deaf culture which is as important as the signing itself!

The Bravo series is a winner
This ASL Curriculum guide to the BRAVO series is a wonderful addition to those who are serious sign language learners. The Bravo lessons are easy to follow and very beneficial! I recommend this tool highly!

A book that really makes sense...
This book as an amazingly helpful guide. Filled with practical, real world experience, it provided signficant insight into the "real" process of selling a business. As a management consulting I occasionally encounter M&A deals. This book is the kind of resource that I need, and can recommend to my clients.

Great resource! Add it to your library!

Excellent Resource!
After reading this book, I now have a clear understanding as to the steps involved in selling a company - it is far more complex than I imagined.

C++ Objects for Making Unix and Windows Nt Talk
Published in Paperback by CMP Books (July, 2000)
Authors: Mark Nadelson and Tom Hagan
Amazon base price: $49.95
Average review score:

Provides features not inherently available from pure sockets
Offering a practical, "user friendly" guide to implementing object-oriented cross-platform communications, C++ Objects for Making Unix & WinNT Talk is an ideal reference for network programming. Readers will learn advanced techniques which provide features not inherently available from pure sockets including Remote Procedure Calls (RPC); Remote Execution (REXEC); File Transfer Protocol (FTP); Cross-Platform Semaphores; Pipes (for process-to-process communications that transmit and receive data using standard input and output file descriptors); as well as Publish and Subscript application frameworks allowing UNIX and NT to communicate without customizing message sending and translation. This highly recommended text is accompanied by a CD-ROM which equips the reader with C++ Objects that can be plugged into their own applications.

Nice book to Learn C++ on Unix , Win NT, Network Programming
This book is excellent to those who have C++ programming experience. You will Understand C++ on UNIX/WIN NT and Newtwork Programming with greater detail. Learning the syntax of a language C++ is the easy part -- the hard part is understanding why things are done in UNIX/WIN NT in certain ways and how to best utilize the language features on both UNIX/WIN NT , and I felt this book did a great job of explaining that. It contains code pieces(Classes) for IPC(Inter Process Communication), Socket Programming, RPC(Remote Procedure Call) and Threads very well. A lot of code can be just cut & paste onto our real world problems. It teaches how to write portable C++ on both the environments UNIX/WIN NT. There is lot of new stuff compared to its older version. I would say it is worth buying this book coz it teaches u C++, UNIX/WIN NT, Network Programming(TCP/IP) and lot of Underlying details of OS & heterogeneous Networks.

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
Published in Paperback by Kitchen Sink Press (November, 1989)
Authors: Mark Schultz, Al Williamson, and Dave Schreiner
Amazon base price: $14.95
Average review score:

An excellent comic. Better than pajama-clad superheroes.
Mix Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, and a little Mad Max and what do you get? Probably this excellent series of comics. Mark Schultz has dreamed up a truly original fantasy world. Set 600 years in the future, in the mythical "Xenozoic Age," mankind no longer dominates the earth. The ecosystems represent all ages of earth. T-rexes and mammoths walk side-by-side. Sure, this isn't very likely, but it is a lot of fun. Unlike most comic artists, Schultz can not only draw but he can tell a good story (Steve Stiles does a good job also). Schultz's landscapes are extremely detailed and extremely beautiful. My only problem with the comic is that the dinosaurs are a little primtive-looking (stand upright, drag tails). However, the reader will notice that in later issues Schultz's dinosaurs become more scientifically correct. Still, this is an excellent comic. Take it from someone who dosen't usually read comics

Great Story, Great Art
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs contains superb art and a solid story full of action and adventure

Canada and the American Civil War : Prelude To War
Published in Paperback by Wadem Publishing (February, 2001)

Discover Canada's unknown civil war history
I was fascinated in discovering Canada's unknown history and connection with the American Civil War. My ancesters are from Canada and it opened my eyes to that country's involvement in our bloody civil war. I was surprised to discover that modern Canada took shape in 1867, 2 years following the end of the civil war.

Great addition to Civil War scholarship!
Mark Vinet has written a very important , highly readable book which bridges the events leading up to the Civil War with the development of the Canadian nation. Citing hundreds of sources, author Mark Vinet presents an enlightening step-by-step approach to a number of pre-Civil war related topics such as the history of slavery in North America--the only place racially motivated bondage ever thrived. For example, a law put in place by John Graves Simcoe, the Lt. Governor of Ontario in 1793 making slavery illegal in Ontario , prompted the British to outlaw slavery throughout the British Commonwealth a number of years later. There are many other little known but eye-opening stories in this work which reveal the importance of Canada and Canadians to Civil War era study. Vinet also places the underground railway-perhaps Canada's greatest achievement in helping to destroy slavery in the United States-in context as an international effort involving brave people who put their lives on the line for their belief in freedom for all. I look forward to his next book--the second of four histories of the Canadian involvement in the United States Civil war

The best collection of short stories I've read this year
I really enjoyed this collection of short stories dedicated to dogs and murder. Most of the best dog mystery authors are included as well as contribution from such authors as Anne Perry and Dean James. A very enjoyable collection.

Great stuff, fun to read. Thank you, Mr. Marks!
A terrific collection of stories, whether you love dogs or not. Of course, some are better than others (such being the nature of these collections), but Jeff Marks has done a bang-up job of putting together some top-notch crime fiction.

EXCELLENT WRITING, GREAT MAPS
Cannae 216 Bc : Hannibal Smashes Rome's Army (Campaign Series, No 36) by Mark Healy is positive proof that good things do come in small packages. While the book is short (96 pages) it is jammed pack with useful and information and maps. If one is looking for a well written account of the Second Punic War up to the battle of Cannae there are few books which are better.

I purchased the book after reading a number of accounts of the battle of Cannae contained in more extensive studies of Hannibal. However, in each case I was disappointed with the discussion of Cannae. Healy's book was not a disappointment. Especially appealing were the maps which accompanied the prose. What little that was missing in the verbal description was more than made up for in the maps.

After finishing the book, I felt that I understood the tactics and strategy that were both planned for and carried out. This is an excellent book and I would highly recommend it.

One of the Great Battles of Ancient History!
Another great book in the Osprey Campaign series. Like all Campaign books it gives important background information on the cause of the war, the opposing leaders and the armies that fought the battle. In addition there is a detailed description of Hannibal's invasion of Italy, the preceding battles of Ticinus, Trebbia and Lake Trasimene, and the climatic clash at Cannae. It also gives an interesting account of the "Fabian" strategy of the Romans that would bring them eventual victory in the war. If you are interested in the battles of the ancient world or Roman history this is a must for your library.

Excellent!
An excellent overview of wildlife of the Northern Minnesota area. There are interesting and informative descriptions of everything from birds to insects to fish. The scope of the book is so broad that only a few of each type of creature can be listed, but he has chosen the ones, such as loons, herons, and otters, that are so special to the North woods. Highly recommended.

This Book Description Leaves A Lot To Be Desired
'Nuff said. The rating-stars do not apply, as I have not seen the book, and am not likely to until I can find out more on its content. *-(

Great overview of construction
This book is a great overview of construction - it covers building stages ranging from the foundation to framing to roof details to types of siding available. Some electrical basics discussed, tips and tricks to keep in mind -- overall a good, lucid, well-thought out book that can get you started with construction.

Grassroots info on building your own home
From tools to termites, this book is an excellent reference tool for the construction novice (the person who is a neophyte to the trade, yet yearns to build their own home). This is a fine jumping-off point to more trade-specific references. It has given me the confidence to build my own house, even though I can't swing a hammer without hitting my thumb. Detailed drawings and illustrations complement a text that works from the "ground floor" up (forgive the pun) to the finishing touches aimed at the asthetic level.
