Careful selection of rare commentaries
This book is to be commended for inclusion of Lt. William Barlow's account of the Battle of Carthage and other materials that help portray this important, but under-reported phase of the War Between the States. The articles were carefully chosen and suitable for any serious student of the conflict.

Peeople around the bike and the bike that makes the people
144 pages of pleasing and interesting pictures of bikes and people. Pictures include custom painted bikes, pictures of the backs of people showing their messages of allegiances. Bikes loaded for trips including scenes from Daytona and Sturgis. Includes pictures of pristine shiny bikes and bikes that are serving their owners through time (Rat bikes). There is also a section of tatoos. Finally, Harley racing. Most women are on the back of bikes, but there are about 4 pictures of women holding the throttle. My favorite pictures include two men enjoying a heart-throb road in the mountains, bikes hung from a tree, a group riding past Mount Rushmore and a couple Rat bikes with interesting "decorations."

Missing Beach Ball review
This is another title from the Clifford the Big Red Dog series. The books, of which I have seen a few other titles, always have an upbeat mood even when one of the characters has a problem. This text features Clifford, as usual, dominating the illustrations with his massive size. In some of the books he frightens people around him save for the child who owns him.
In this particular tale Clifford and his two little dog friends Cleo and T-Bone resolve to spend a warm day at the beach but they lose one of their toys--a beach ball.
The ultimate moral lesson being communicated in this story is to be altruistic enough to give away a toy to somebody lacking one out of a spirit of generosity if the child has others at home. However, this may not be a realistic goal for small children, who have an inclination to be self-centered at their early age.

A different kind of adventure
Mark Wellman lost most of the use of his legs in a mountain climbing fall when he was a young man. This book tells the story of his accident and journey through recovery and development into an elite athlete and outdoor adventurer. It is an adventure story that not only includes exploits such as Wellman's ascents (post-accident!) of the big walls in Yosemite but also his "adventure" of adapting to his situation so he could continue doing the things he loved. Quotes from various characters that Wellman meets during his journey are included in scattered excerpts and add interest to the story. The story slows a little at the end as Wellman finds his way into the nation's limelight, but overall it is an engaging telling of an uplifting story. I also highly recommend this book for persons who have undergone a spinal cord injury (like myself) and are looking at an uncertain future.

Not bad, not bad at all...
Well, I liked it. It is seemingly undescribale, although it is mildly hard to follow of you haven't read Cardbaord Castles, which is still one of the best books I've read ever. I would highly reccomend this book, if nothing else than some good bible humor.

Good book about Mark Twain
This book was exhilarating, however, it wasn't really a cliff-hanger. It captured my interest in Samuel Clemens--Mark Twain. I had no clue that there was a town called Florida, Missouri (I'm from the state of Florida).
This is a good book for a book report for school (5th grade).

Top-notch collection of essays...
Grimsley and Simpson offer a brilliant collection of essays by various historians musing philosophically on the demise of Confederate States of America. With only 180+ pages of text, the six essays are nicely paced and well footnoted. From the possibility of Southern guerrilla tactics to the role of women at the homefront, this modest-sized book gives thought-provoking slants to varied aspects of the final options/last days of the CSA. I would recommend this book for readers more mature in their Civil War studies. I think the novice reader may get "lost" in the name-dropping of battles and personalities.

Death + Sex + More Death
Bataille's poetry is often beautiful, using words and ideas to paint vague emotional pictures. You might get bored when he goes on and on about immensity or death, but it's worth it for the good parts.
