Definitive Troop Position Maps for Bentonville!
Based upon years of study, the detailed tactical maps in Moore's Bentonville book provide step-by-step orientation for all three days of this fascinating Civil War engagement.

Detailed battle descriptions enhance the maps, and many of the battle's participants tell their own stories, with easy reference to unit locations on the battlefield.

For tourists and scholars alike, this user-friendly study offers more than your average battlefield guidebook.

Excellent Historical Guide to Bentonville
"Moore's Historical Guide to the Battle of Bentonville" is undoubtedly the finest battlefield resource ever seen by this reviewer. The maps are models of clarity and comprehensiveness. Significant facts and analyses are presented in a very readable "bullet" format, enlivened by vivid quotations by participants. Sketches and photos, both from the Civil War era as well as modern times, further assist the reader in gaining orientation to the battlefield. Perhaps most importantly, Moore's masterful work places Bentonville in the complete context of Sherman's Carolinas Campaign and the entire Carolina-Virginia Theater. This work in unquestionably indispensable to both the serious Civil War scholar and the tourist.
--KEMP BURPEAU, "Civil War News"

Simply the Best . . .
"Skillfully and effectively employing both tactical and modern highway maps, along with a clear explanatory narrative keyed to both, Mark Moore's book on the Battle of Bentonville is simply the best Civil War battlefield guide ever compiled. It will serve as a model for all similar efforts."
--CRAIG L. SYMONDS, United States Naval Academy; acclaimed author of "Joseph E. Johnston: A Civil War Biography" and "Stonewall of the West: Patrick Cleburne and the Civil War."

"Moore's Historical Guide to the Battle of Bentonville is a masterful piece of work. Mark A. Moore is to be congratulated."
--JOHN G. BARRETT, author of "Sherman's March through the Carolinas" (UNC 1956), and "The Civil War in North Carolina" (UNC 1963).

Entirely Enchanting!!
Take off on a magical dream with a girl and her dinosaur. My daughter adores this book ... can't get enough of it. The story is magical and the illustrations are some of the best I've seen in a children's book. It is just captivating! This would make such a great birthday present, along with a little green stuffed dinosaur, just like the one the girl is holding in the book.

My daughter's favorite
When I first read this story to my almost-3-yr old daughter at the library, I saw a look in her eyes I had never seen before. She was already fond of dinosaurs, but this book clearly helped her discover a new way to use her imagination and she loved it. I love it for the way the dinosaur is presented--magically and whimsically, rather than ferociously. It's a beautiful book.

My Dinosaur
This is absolutly one of my favorite books to read to my boys! It's a great fantasy story with a very friendly dinosaur. It's very, very different than any other dinosaur books we read. I think girls would really love it also!

A storehouse of information in a convenient package
Many of today's natural health encyclopedias are too large to be kept in first aid kits or too expensive to have copies for your home, office, car, etc. Dr. Stengler's Health Guide is 218 pages of condensed, yet invaluable information suitable for both professionals and for those individuals exploring natural remedies for the first time. I personally have 3 copies!

Easy to read and use
Dr. Stengler has done an excellent job in making it easy to find the right natural remedy for common diseases. The book is easy to read and understand, and is perfect for the everyday person who might not know anything about natural medicine. Dr Stengler needs to publish more books of this kind for everyday people.

An excellent reference for the use of natural medicine.
I recommend The Natural Physician by Dr. Stengler because it is user friendly and covers all the main medical conditions. He tells you what to use and what dosages and gets to the point. My family uses it as a reference and so do our relatives.

40 years old and in the best shape I have ever been in
Marks book has changed my life. I read his book in August of 2002 and was very impressed with what he said. I soon started the workout for myself and have seen some major changes in the shape of my body. His workout is hard and isnt for the wimpy but I would recommend it to everyone. I teach this workout to ladies at my church who range in age from 18-55. They have seen great results also. They keep coming back everyday so I know they love it too. If you want to get in shape try it, it works!

Hey, Mark de Lisle signed my copy!
I am extremely generous with this rating because Mark was bold enough to get himself in print at all. He mailed to me what I believe was a prototype version of the book back in early 1997. By what I mean by prototype is a light-brown 8X11 paperback with black-and-white pictures. Also, Mark had a nice write-up about the book in General Nutrition Center's magazine, "Let's Live", also in 1997, referring to this very same book. (This was around the same time Demi Moore's film "G.I. Jane" was released, about a fictional female SEAL.)

ultimate athletes bible
Wow! These are not your ordinary exercises. They have a whole bunch of uncommon exercises from the most extreme you can image to really easy. Exercises that work your explosive muscle fibers as well as leaving in pain and out of breath. That is of course if you wish to push yourself. Their are dozens of un heard of stretches that stretch parts of your body you have never stretched even through running books and basket. I know because i am a cross-country runner. This book is full of great exercises that work all your individual muscles to the max. Its so easy to do the exercises because they dont require any equipment just yourself. If you think you are so tough and nothing can compare to your strength, just try some of these exercises and see for yourself.

The best book of its type
This is THE book to have on book contracts.

As a contracts attorney myself, I used it to analyze the contract submitted to me by a mainstream publisher, only to discover that they were trying to "fleece" me.

This book is indispensable for any author interested in getting a fair deal. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is well written, easily accessible and virtually timeless in content. Mark is very attuned to the industry and his advice amply demonstrates this.

If you're a writer who publishes, BUY IT!
From the author of 'People's Names':

I didn't know how much my library needed this. It may at first seem a relatively brief book, but you more than get your money's worth.

The prose is clear and simple, but the information is densely packed. No marshmallow padding to let your brain relax. Plan on reading no more than a chapter a night to absorb this, or you'll start getting foggy from information overload.

If you have not faced a contract, this will prepare you for most of what you are likely to be offered, and what you might ask for or change. If you have signed contracts, you may want to kick yourself for not reading this sooner. (I did. One or two light kicks, not bad.) The next contract I go over, with a new agent or not, is going to give me a lot more than the last one. It will also help me double-check my new agent.

O wishful beginners, agents are not only not omniscient, they are often looking out more for their interests than for yours. This means that some will try to keep the publishers real happy with them and not push anything you don't demand. If you don't know what to push for or adjust, the agent won't necessarily rock the boat by making suggestions. Some day I'll get one of those agents who is a writer's best friend, but until then this book helps me be my own best friend in the business.

An essential reference for authors.
This book should be on every author's bookshelf. Clearly and concisely written, it explains, in plain English, the essential deal points contained in the standard author-publisher agreement. Read this book before you sign on the dotted line. -- Lloyd J. Jassin, Attorney at La

Valuable addition to history of Jim Crow Era.
Having found very little about the Atlanta Race Riot of 1906, imagine my delight at coming across "Negrophobia." There's so little about this event that anything would have been fine, but Bauerlein's study is exhaustive and a damn good read.

The author made the wise choice of spending considerable time setting the scene, looking at the entire cast of characters and 1906 Atlanta. He thereby sets the stage and makes the story of this horrendous riot that much more compelling.

I was also impressed by Bauerlein's straight forward account. He does not editorialize, instead letting the facts speak for themselves.

Atlanta was a relatively progressive city in the Jim Crow South, yet was far from immune to virulent and violent racism. Indeed the state of hysteria white women were whipped into in the South was probably as bad in Atlanta as anwyhere. The demonizing of African-Americans concurrent with the paranoia they engendered is at the heart of the riots.

Baurelein's books fills a huge void and is great reading.

A real page turner
This is an objective historical account, but I couldn't help thinking as I read it: "What a great story!" It has all the makings of a really good potboiler - an unexpected treat for such serious subjects.

As for the matters of race, anyone who wants to read about how people really experienced race relations on the ground and in their daily lives should read this book.

An Excellent Account of a City's Troubled Times
This is a sharp, erudite, and very readable account of Atlanta's turbulent racial politics in 1906. But it is also much more than a historical study of a single year. Mark Bauerlein has produced an impressive analysis of black intellectual history at the turn of the century. His observations are precise, and his reconstruction of events vivid. I recommend this book highly.

Excellent Source of the Latest Information
I am the webower of Mental Health Today.

This book includes the latest information on depression: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, latest treatments - medication, complementary & alternative. Families, children, work, suicide prevention, new hope through research and much more.

I highly recommend this book to consumers and families if you are looking for facts needed in order to recover.

A wonderful book
Speaking as a former board member of a community psychiatric center, I recommend this book as a worthwhile reference for understanding the problems associated with depression. This book deals realistically with the kinds of situations that confront people with depression and their families. This book answers important questions regarding the problems and the hope now available. There are so many more resources available than there were in the past. A good buy.

People are more than a collection of symptoms!
This book is written without bias.It is intended to bring the many facets of clinical depression and its treatments to the attention of those experiencing this common, human, and misery producing condition, and/or to those with more than a passing interest in it.
It is a fair( today so necessary)and impartial exposition of the many notions concerning perpetuating and precipitating forces that impinge on people from within and without.
The author emphasizes that "chemical imbalances"occur within living, breathing, and feeling people who are more than a collection of synapses and what passes between them ; hence, there are no quick fixes(e.g."take this TV advertized happy pill") This should help people to appreciate that there are many approaches to treatment rather than just a pill .
This book should be read as well by medical students, primary care physicians, and specialists. It would help them remember that patients are people("bio-psycho-socially" based)and hence capable of active and broad (e.g.psychotherapy)participation in their own treatment programs. This would help avoid patients' being encouraged, however non-verbally,to become passive participants in treatment and thus more impersonalized(feeling impotent-read hopeless/helpless)than they are already feel.It would also add to the interest physicians could have in treating people rather than symptoms. As importantly it would then lessen the burden that physicians so often feel to be totally responsible for treatment formulations and their delivery.

A Wonderful Update of This Classic for the Internet!
This third edition of Scrooge Investing, titled The New Scrooge Investing, is a great update of a very valuable resource that I have been using for years. I was delighted to see that all of the things that I look for in other investing books (like to to get free investment advice, reliable hot stock tips, free trades, and cut taxes) are all covered in detail in this book.

Mark Skousen has a great sense of humor, and you'll love his references to Uncle Scrooge, the Disney character (his inspiration for this book). In fact, I have the same collectible set of Uncle Scrooge materials that he refers to in this book.

I feel like I am a knowledgeable investor, but I found new ideas worth tens of thousands of dollars to me in the next year in the 150 tips in this book. You will certainly be repaid for your investment in the book and the time you spend with it.

I have been a subscriber to Forecasts and Strategies for many years, and found that this book is a wonderful summary of the advice I have been paying for over that time. I suspect that I can cancel my subscription now and save even more money!

Here are a few areas where you can quiz yourself:

(1) How should you choose a discount broker?

(2) Why is a discount broker often a poor idea when you buy bonds?

(3) Why should you be looking at closed-end country mutual funds?

(4) How can you use the recent rise in interest rates to increase your income and your capital gains?

(5) How can you get into hot IPOs with discount on-line brokers?

(6) What are the best ways to buy rare art?

(7) How should you sell items on on-line auctions?

(8) How can you acquire foreign currency inexpensively?

(9) How should you approach day-trading on-line?

If any of these questions are ones that interest you, be sure to check this book out.

This excellent guide covers a huge spectrum of usable tips!
I have to admit I was a little surprised at the usefulness of the tips in this book. It covers so many areas with intelligent tips it really has changed my perspective about how to manage money. Thanks Mark! A book of this type can't cover incredible DEPTH on the various topics that are presented, but it does manage to get you thinking along the lines that can save you a lot of money. Some tips are common sense to people with a lot of experience, but there are surprising gems even for an expert. Some things were a little out of my league (I haven't started any offshore investment programs) but other things really hit home (some of the online/Internet information, for example). My experience is more Internet-related, and I can see that Mark can't cover EVERY red flag to watch out for, but he leads you down a path of figuring things out for yourself. Even for an experienced online user like me, he brought up some VERY good points, which I appreciate greatly. Overall, I think people of all levels of financial expertise will benefit to some degree with this book -- easily covering the cost of the book itself many, many times over! 5 stars!

Bah Humbug Indeed!
I thought this book was excellent. Skousen, editor of the financial letter Forecasts & Strategies, shows you the easiest and most effective way to increase your investment returns: lower your costs. He also points out how you can save money on insurance, collectibles, even art. I agree with Skousen. The internet and other changes taking place in the financial industry are allowing investors to control their financial destiny at a fraction of the former cost. This book is a virtual user's manual on how to do it. Well worth reading.
