This is a satire about the American obsession with guns and the forces arrayed on both sides of the issue. On one side is the National Weapons Federation, headed by actor Winston Lawton. Out west, Michael Klyter is the head of an obscure militia group.He and his wife start an "independent" foundation to give money to conservative politicians just before the family moves to Washington so Michael can assume a senior position with the NWF. Reverend Jim Pennington is host of the nationally televised Fellowship Club. There is also a smattering of venal, self-serving politicians and right-wing radio talk show hosts who make little or no attempt at on-air impartiality. On the other side is the radical People Against Handguns who conduct an aggressive guerilla campaign against the NWF and Rev. Pennington.

Aside from its long-term goal of getting a gun into every home in America, the NWF is pushing a bill in Congress called the Citizen Self-Defense and Crime Control Bill. It would exempt from punishment anyone who uses a gun to stop a crime. The NWF feel they have the numbers to pass it over a promised Presidential veto. Both sides pull out all the stops on this bill and turn Washington into the political equivalent of a war zone. Things get really interesting when the President crashes an NWF rally in Washington and suggests that he might push for repeal of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

This book will get thrown across a lot of rooms. Sometimes, those are the best kind of books, those that grab the reader by the lapels and violently shake them. Love it or hate it, no one will be ambivalent about this book. I loved it, and can highly recommend it.

i thought ''Appetite for Destruction : Bass Guitar'' was reallya great transcription for bass guitar of a great album. i has musicand tab for all the songs. my favorite song is "Sweet Child of Mine" the bass line is modereratly easy and fun to play. i gave it a 5 because it is well written and easy to figure out

I teach ESL in a community college in California. One of the biggest problems I encounter when I teach English to Spanish speaking immigrants is the difficulty they encounter in understanding the sounds and meanings of English words. 'Hablando Ingles Americano' is the only course we have used here which goes slowly enough for the reluctant uneducated learner to grasp the sounds and sentences structures necessary to read, write and speak English. The instructor on the tapes speaks very slowly and clearly and gives Spanish definitions for all English. The text is complete and has Spanish and English for all stories and exercises. It is the favorite tape program of my class and the favorite book. I therefore give this course an A plus based on the results we have all received from it.

An old inn on the seashore is about to be torn down and Grandpa shares a legend about it with his granddaughter. While they are present the legend's prophesy comes true right before their eyes!
This lovely story is filled with atmosphere and anticipation. It shows the loving process of passing along the secrets and subtle magic of life from one generation to another. It's short and sweet and satisfying and makes a comfy bedtime story for little ones to ponder as they drift off to dreamland.

We have family that lives throughtout the world. In order for them to get an idea of what our home, the Hampton Roads area, is like, this book is fantastic! Before this was published there wasn't a book available with good photographs, and up-to-date information about just the Hampton Roads area. The books that were published focused on Williamsburg, civil war history, and the old plantation homes. The photos are fantastic, the text is well written, and it is current information. We have purchased three of these books already, and will get more for other family members and friends. Great Book!

This text is very useful in explaining pathophysiology of cardiac events, at a cellular level. There are overviews of acute and chronic heart failure, acute MI, and arrhythmias. The conditions are explained in depth and the text is easy to understand. These sections then address the drug therapies, interventions, and cellular activities that resolve the pathologies. It is very helpful to clinical practice and intervention.

This book is a must read for counselors and anyone who is raising boys. It should be on every parents' and counselors' shelves for many years to come.

I had the earlier edition of this book and it was helpful when looking for the "Zebras". I am looking forward to the "new and improved" version.

The best reference I have reviewed for dimensional metrology principals. It does not cover the latest equipment, but it does provide excellent in-depth discussion of basic principals and theory of operation.

This book is a necessity for any bookshelf of communication scholars or those who need to understand the workings of communication. Explains each theory indepth ... you couldn't ask for a better textbook
