Good FAntasy
This is a great book for all sci-fi fans. The characters are as real as humans, and the story is very engaging. I picked this book up by chance at the library and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is very entertaining.

A Definite Keeper!
Out of the hundreds and hundreds of books I have owned, very few books make it to my 'keepers' shelf. Elsewhere is one of the few. It is absolutely one of the best collections of fantasy I have ever read and I reread it over and over again.

Particular favorites of mine are Pooka's Bridge by Gillian FitzGerald; The Judgement of St. Yves by Evangeline Walton, Sweetly the Waves Call to Me by Pat Murphy; and The Tree's Wife by Janet Yolen.

I can not say enough about this collection. Every year or so I make a vow to get rid of all my clutter and donate all my books to the thrift store. For Elsewhere to survive these numerous purges again and again is the highest compliment I can pay to it.

Marvelous
I love great writing, folktales, fairy tales, and mythology. This collection mixes all these elements up for some fascinating reading. If you like Terri Windling and Ellen Datlow's fairy tale retelling anthology series, you'll love this book, too. There are at least two more books in the series, and I can't wait to dive into them!

Essential Guide to Real Estate Contracts (Essential Guide to Real Estate Contracts)

Real Estate Contracts fully expalined
I understand that Attorney Mark Warda has written over 60 books on real estate and the law, and this is just one of those books. He dissects the real estate contract between the buyer and the seller going over each and every clause and explaining its meaning in layman's terms.

Also included in the book are 8 different forms. If you are represented by a competent and knowledgeable real estate attorney, then this book may not be necessary. But if you are buying and selling property without an attorney then this book is a must. The more property you buy and sell the more you need this book. On the other hand if you already have many settlements under your belt this book will not have many new ideas for you.

This book would most benefit the beginner or intermediate real estate investor. I also read another book by the same author on "Land Trusts" and got much more from that book.

Invaluable Tool for real estate investors
I have been interested in investing in real estate for a long time and felt confident with all aspects of it except for the contract. I didn't feel like paying a lawyer to draw up a contract that I didn't really understand and that was 9 pages long was the right answer. After reading this book I have started investing using my own contract and containing clauses and ideas presented in this book. My contracts have been reviewed and approved by real estate attorneys who never had a clue that the contract wasn't prepared by an attorney.

A fast, very practical reference for buyers or sellers
This book lets you choose how you want to set up your contract. It explains the pros and cons of each clause. Most lawyers would learn a lot from it but it is simple enough for anyone to understand. I loaned one from the library but decided I need one of my own, that's how good it is.

Great Book, Clear
This is a great book for the beginning programmer probably one of the easiest books to follow that I have used so far. Very fiew mistakes and they weren't important. I recommend it highly and at a good price.

This book is an excellent choice for the casual user
This book was perfect for me. I had toyed around with visual basic and bought a 21 day book that was too basic "no pun intended" for me. This book teaches you the fundementals without resorting to a third grade reading level. This book gives you exactly what it says the essentials. A perfect book to take you from the occasional user to programmer.

Very, Very COOL book, especially for beginners - GET IT!
This book is a must for any VB 4.0 beginner. I carry this book in my laptop case, because I know that what ever question I have, I'll find the answer here. Very easy to follow, lots & lots of Cool examples, and well written summaries. If your going to buy a book on VB 4.0 make it this one and at the above price, your making out like a bandit. MP

Good for a brief overview
If you're still unsure about whether you *want* to buy a house, then this is the book to help you make up your mind. It covers the basics of mortgages, to finding a house, to deciding between types of houses, i.e. condos/new/resale/fixer-upper/etc. It's a quick and easy read, nicely defined words, pictures, but for if you decide to buy a house/condo, or have already decided, then you definitely need something else.

Great Resource
This book is an excellent resource, especially for first-time home buyers. If you don't know much about real estate, this is a simple and easy tool to learn about it.

great book!!!
This book has really made a lot of decisions easier. It goes into details we didn't even think of. Highly recommended!!!

Fast Track to MDX
This is an excellent book for someone who's new to MDX or even at the intermediate level. I've been searching for a book that's to-the-point and focus solely on MDX ... this is it. There are many good, real-life examples in the book and very easy to understand. This book has answered so many of my questions about MDX and has helped me so much with my current project ... and I'm only on Chapter 6. I love it !!!

Very Practical and Useful
The authors do a terrific job in explaining the fundamentals of MDX. I really liked their style explaining how MDX expressions are composed, explaining the differences between tuples and sets, and their approach for incrementally building complex MDX expression. The book includes very useful and practical examples that I was able to utilize for our project (e.g. calculation of averages, filters, custom orders and rollups). I can highly recommend this book.

Great Book
This is a fantastic book to get you started with MDX. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot. The authors give you the information you need for the most commonly used functions and real world examples of how to use them. The building block approach helped to not overwhelm me which over course, kept me interested. I now know I can write MDX and although it will be a continual learning experience, I have a great foundation and feel that I can even handle MDX Solutions at this point.
I really like the writing style too!

A Useful Tool
Though this title may be a little pricy, it is a must have for residents of California, Oregon, and Washington. At any rate, any family within which there is a flower collecter, should have a copy of this excellent resource. Though my family originally purchased this title because of a biology project assigned to my daughter, it has since opened up an interesting world of the natural plant life of this area and even those farther away.

Pacific States Wildflowers.
I like the book and the topic, however the binding is is such bad shape that the book is useless in the field or for a more robust usage. Can this be fixed?

Excellent Field Guide to help identify Wildflowers
I take this guide (and the Audobon Society Field Guide to North American Wildflowers-- west) on all my field trips to identify wildflowers. Though Peterson has fewer real photos, it does have better aids to identify specific wildflowers, as it is organized by color, as well as number and types of petals. The sketches help me do a preliminary id on the wildflower.

Broad but shallow. Overpriced.
A very complete coverage of the principles and construction offireworks, but there is very little detail on any particulartype of device. Has good references to other works, and is a good compliment to works that delve deeper into fewer subjects.

Now more than ever the "Bible" of pyrotechnics...
An updated version of a classic work. Builds from the foundation up, enlightening the reader with a well-rounded, solid presentation of the principles behind pyrotechnic compounds and devices, as well as delivering practical methodology for the professional. A must-have for the serious fire-artist.

The home pyrotechnician's bible !
An all-encompassing review of a multitude of pyrotechnic topics. This is an excellent reference manual and an exceptional formula bank, with hundreds of applications, both to the experimenter and the experienced pyrotechnist. Slightly overpriced, but not overvalued, this is a must-have text for anyone even considering beginning a collection of pyrotechnic literature.

The suggestions are good...the example letters are lacking
I found the suggestions in the book to be helpful. Unfortunately, many of the example cover letter failed to follow the guidelines. For instance, on page 47, "Don't tell them what you want them to do or that you'll call to schedule an interview." The cover letter on page 153 says, "I will call in approximately two weeks to discuss how I hope to contribute to your school." The cover letter on page 158 says, "Please contact me at the above address..." As long as the reader is aware of the inconsistencies, it is not a big deal. Just don't plan on using every word from any given cover letter!

A good book, especially for classified ads
This is a well-written book. It covers the basics of a job search, including chapters on resumes, interviewing, and job hunting. I appreciated the large number of example letters, but they are very focused on cold letters. There are only a very few letters for jobs you have been referred to, and few letters for someone without a lot of experience. I have found this book to be an excellent resource for most job hunting situations, but I wish they had skipped the resume and interview chapters for more examples.

The Title Says It All
This is deffinatly a book you can judge by its cover. It is what it says it is, everything you need to know when writing a cover letter. This guide offers valuable pointers on writing a cover letter and gives helpful tips on what to do and not to do when writing a cover letter, resume, etc. There are even sample letters for virtually every type of job application (including student and graduate). The book also gives examples of poor cover letters and a revised version of the same letters pointing out common but crucial mistakes many people make when applying for a job. Bottom line: very helpful in making the applicant look more professional and experienced even on the first interview.

Fighting Strategies of Muay Thai : Secrets of Thailand's Box
BOM LIVRO, MUITO ILUSTRADO,DETALHADO MAS CONTUDO FALTARAM MAIS INFORMAÇÕES SOBRE PROJEÇÃO E NÃO SE PRENDEU A TÉCNICAS AVANÇADAS E É O QUE ESTÁ FALTANDO EM VÁRIOS outros livro de muay thai que possuo.

A knockout
Beautifully written book (with the exception of some typos). The book assumes you have prior knowledge of muay Thai so don't expect a step-by-step instruction manual. You may want to look elsewhere for basic instructions. The book serves its purpose well and breaks down the methods, mechanics, tools, ranges and strategies needed to succeed in the ring. You might get a bit confused in the beginning when Van Shuyver attempts to give the reader a physics lesson on power and movement. I guess we should have paid attention in class huh.
Fighters are broken down into four major categories: aggressive, elusive, counterer and tricky. I think we all fall somewhere within these categories but it is interesting to see how a muay Thai stylist deals with such fighters and the book goes into many possible options. There's even a self-assessment you can take to determine your fighting style. All in all, a good bang for your buck.

For anyone with an interest in Thai martial arts
Fighting Strategies Of Muay Thai: Secrets Of Thailand's Boxing Camps by martial arts expert Mark Van Schuyver with the assistance of Kru Pedro Solana Villalobos (owner, director, and head instructor of the Thailand Arts Institute) is a straightforward presentation of timing elements, strategies, and training techniques of the martial art of Muay Thai boxing. An informative text illustrated with black-and-white photographs explores individual techniques in-depth, as well as conditioning methods, and the four basic types of fighter, and much more in this excellent overview of Muay Thai discipline. Fighting Strategies Of Muay Thai is essential reading for anyone with an interest in Thai martial arts.

Interesting, but needs a thorough editing; too many mistakes
Mark F. Bernstein's history of Ivy League football is generally interesting, though it doesn't offer a lot of new material. The bibliography is fascinating. Most problematic however, is the proliferation of mistakes, sometimes self-corrected later. A good editor should have caught these. Consider the following:

1) On page 199, Mr. Bernstein implies that Princeton, Dartmouth, Columbia, and Cornell dropped Pennsylvania from their schedules in 1951 and 1952. In fact, Pennsylvania played all of these teams in both of those seasons and the author even refers to the 1951 Princeton-Penn contest on page 209.

2) On page 257, the author writes that "(Penn coach Jerry) Berndt continued to win, claiming a share of still another Ivy title in 1988, with Cornell....". However, this is not correct as Berndt left Pennsylvania after the 1985 season, which the author correctly indicates on page 258.

3) On page 242, and again on page 280, Penn receiving legend Don Clune, is referred to as Don McClune.

4) There is no mention of Frank Riepl's miracle kickoff return for Pennsylvania against Notre Dame in 1955, Coach Ron Rogerson of Princeton's untimely death in 1986, Brown is continually called the "Bears" when their nickname was the "Bruins" until recently, and I swear, somewhere in the book Bob Blackman is called Bob Blackmun.

All in all, it's a good book with a decent balance of coverage of each of the eight teams, though Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Penn get by far the most attention. The beginning takes a bit to get through as well and of course, please check the facts, ma'am.

A Great Read About the Ivy League and Football
Even though I have not yet finished reading this excellent book on football and the Ivy League, I already have enough tidbits to keep up a lively conversation at holiday cocktail parties. Before the end of the first chapter, I found out that there really is no Ivy League. And who could resist dropping on their friends from Cornell the fact that one of their college presidents refused to let "thirty men travel 400 miles to agitate a bag of wind". The tales are intriguing, and Bernstein's writing is engaging. If you have an Ivy League graduate or any other football fan on your gift list, this would be a great choice.

"Meticulous" & terrific stories as the Wall St. Journal said
Mark Bernstein's terrific new book shows that the Ivy League invented and struggled with the same problems, and the same glories that permeate college football today.
His is a story of the game: the players, coaches, fans, institutions, that shaped everything about football from its rules to the way it is televised.
He shows how football's founding fathers had the same arguments, debates, and trash-talking disputes that coaches have today.
Anyone who thinks cheating or hooliganism or sportsmanship or glory are any different now than they ever have been, should read this wonderful and entertaining account.

From a Princeton football star who died a Fitzgerald-esque figure and mercenary soldier of fortune, to a princeton football star who then attended 450-some straight Princeton games, the people who skirmished are here. From the rules changes that ended almost a decade of 0-0 ties (in some years, teams would win a few games, tie the rest and win the title) to the rules changes that allowed the forward pass, to the rules changes that knocked the Ivies out of major college football, it is all here.
