It's easy, so do not expect a lot from it.
"Schaum's easy outline:organic chemistry" is a packbackable book that is affordable for your budget. However, as it is an outline, it only functions as a guideline: briefly contains the very main topics in organic chemistry. My reccomendation is to use this book as a guide only because your organic textbook (whatever it is, mine is Brown and Foote's Organic Chemistry) has more details and good explanations.

comprehensive
Overall, I was pretty satisfied with this book. It contained a lot of general information as well as specific examples. To make the most out of the book, you need a pretty good understanding of organic chemistry to begin with. I used it after reading my own textbook, and then read this book to reemphasize the information. it helped me check my understanding of the material.

Wordy, rambling, hard to follow
I own but have not read Sex Laws and Cyberspace in its entirety. This is because the book is poorly written and hard to read.

The book deals with cogent questions about types of pornography and legal problems in the theory and practice of censoring it.

However, it appears Wallace and Mangan aimed at length instead of lucidity in each paragraph and chapter. Reading page after page of their rambling narrative is simply too much.

New age Internet safe for our children?
I believe that the book enstilled frightening thoughts in my mind of the dangers available on the Internet. A must read book before you let your child use the information superhighway.

Could be better!
I was really disappointed in the quality of pictures although the examples were great. It could be better!

New Perspective
Fascinating. Honest. Insightful. Inspiring. It's a celebration of great ideas and great causes in equal measures. And the power of the ideas removes any scepticism of the intent of the message.

Unfortunately Disappointing
I ordered this book the day I discovered it was available. I loved the title, "Testimony to the Exiles" and still think this is a good way to think about the reality of Gen X's experience and the Christian message. Feldmeir's introduction was compelling, articulating key issues of both the generation and the task / dilemma and struggle of a preacher (and very much worth reading, pondering, and discussing). Unfortunately I found the sermons disconnected to his thoughts in the introduction and simply a rehash of the Baby Boomer style of preaching advocated by too many (do we really need Hollywood, Microsoft, video clips, and thousands of dollars of AV equipment to share the Good News?). One disappointment came in Feldmeir's use of media / popular culture in his sermons. Generation X is one of the most media savvy generations and is looking for the authentic. Most of the media examples feel contrived and insult the reader, the faith, and the original intent of the media (Images of Coca Cola for worship). More disappointing were sermons that are stories, quotes, etc. strung together without the struggle, ambiguity and real faith life experience I wanted. I don't care what those others think and feel about the faith - I can read the books Fledmeir quotes, watch the movies and listen to the songs myself - what is his experience? the experience of the community? My bottom line, is that Testimony to the Exiles is a great idea that was too highly influenced by the Baby Boomers who are still setting the agenda for our generation.

Intelligently written and thought-provoking
I found this book to be an honest exploration of Christian values and lifestyles (and more importantly, the blending of the two). Mark Feldmeir's sermons follow a consistent formula: A present-day problem or occurrence is presented, followed by an account of how the issue was evidenced and resolved in the Bible, and summed up with an inspirational challenge to us to go out and make a needed change. The sermons require that we face our daily challenges and opportunities with honesty and an open mind. We are required to see the naked truth, even when it is uncomfortable. Mark Feldmeir has a way of provoking us to change; both within and without. The challenge becomes: How will we proceed, given what we now know?

I heartily recommend this book to anyone who knows he has work to do. It's a beautiful roadmap for pointing us in the right direction.

A sweet tale but a weak novel
This novella is the weakest of Mark Harris's Henry Wiggens books. It is to be read by those who have to read everything in the series but compared to The Southpaw and Bang the Drum Slowly it comes up short. Weak in plot and in inventivness but strong in sugar.

The Small Gem among the Wiggens Novels
"A Ticket for a Seamstitch" is beautiful & sage beyond measure, one of the finest long novellas (or very short novels) written in English last century. Just a little baseball, really. The Southpaw goes 15-2 at the beginning of the 1956 season, but this book is a tour de force for Henry "Author" Wiggens, human being, & a plain mysterious young woman from the West. Mark Harris can write about the qualities of straightness & decency with abiding grace. Praise to the University of Nebraska Press (Bison Books) for keeping this & other Harris tales in print.

A disappointment
Timothy Greenfield-Sanders is a skilled portrait photographer, and we've seen his work in magazines as well as museums everywhere. A monograph of his work has been long overdue.

Unfortunately, we are still waiting for a GOOD book of his work.

This book denies us the opportunity to see the pictures presented to their best advantage. "Art World" is jam-packed with hundreds of good portraits, but they are printed very small, six to a page, forcing the viewer fantasize about the precise detail and deliciously long tonal range that surely exists in the originals. The publisher is either clueless or cruel -- I'm not sure which.

Greenfield-Sanders' first book should have been a monumental publishing event -- instead it's just an unimaginative catalog sure to frustrate those of us who admire his work.

One of a kind
A stunning collection of portraits that spans the art world. Greenfield-Sanders is gifted in his photographic technique and in his ability to elicit personal qualities in his subjects. If you've ever wanted to know who populates the art world, then this is a book that is indispensible and literally unrivaled. Enjoy!

Juvenile Argonauts over the Sahara
This book picks up right after the hallaballo has died down from Tom and Huck's triumphal return. Tom kinda craves notoriety as he competes for the unofficial title of Hannibal's First Traveler. Kidnapped by a mad inventor Tom, Huck and Jim
find themselves sailing in a hot-air balloon. They eventually realize that they are alone over the Atlantic, but when they sight land, it is not Europe! This first-person story is narrated with youthful zest and slangy vocabulary by an admiring Huck, so that he can praise Tom's leadership skills and power of argument.

The three unprepared argonauts finally understand that they are floating over the vast Sahara Desert, where they experience a variety of adventures--interspersed with juvenile deductions and lively debate. Their challenges are right out of the Arabian Nights: no magic lamp or genies, but Twain serves up caravans, lions, mirages, warring Bedouin tribes, and a devastating sand storm. All this action is spiced with his wry humor, as he slips in snide remarks about more serious social issues (spoken through the mouths of babes). Although this tale is Plot Lite, there's plenty of lively dialogue, as the boys argue using kid logic, while indulging in youthful dreams of sudden fortune. A fun read with sly social criticism. But really, Mark Twain--tigers--in Africa?

Good, but not classics
I was surprised to discover the existance of these two books: Tom Sawyer Abroad and Tom Sawyer Detective. Apparently, they were both very popular back when they were first published, in the late 1890s, but have become mostly forgotten. They're more novellas than anything; Detective isn't even 100 pages long. The illustrations are really good, and I plan on buying the other volumes in the Mark Twain Library, each of which include the original illustrations that were present in the first editions. Both Abroad and Detective are entertaining, but they're not in the mold of the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. You know how in Huckleberry Finn, Huck goes through all these little misadventures, all the while growing up and gaining all kinds of wisdom, and then in the end, the book takes a harsh turn and goes back to the juvenile exploits of Tom Sawyer, when he and Huck try to free Jim? It's like the end of the book really doesn't have much to do with the rest of it, it's just Huck and Tom doing dumb, yet funny, kid stuff. Well, both Abroad and Detective are like that; only very occasionally do you get any of Huck's unique flashes of insight. Jim himself only appears in Abroad, which is a fantasy tale in which he, Tom, and Huck happen to be kidnapped onto a high-tech balloon (!) and go across the Atlantic to Africa. There's really not much of a plot or resolution, they just float along over the desert, Tom tells them about the Arabian Nights, and Jim gets stranded on the head of the Sphinx for a little while. Abroad picks up not long after the events in the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and apparently Detective picks up not long after Abroad, though the events that transpired in Abroad are never mentioned in Tom Sawyer, Detective. Maybe Twain considered Abroad more of a whimsical tale, something that never really happened. Who knows...but I think Detective was the better of the two, even though Jim doesn't even appear in the book, and it's more of a mystery novel than anything. Huck basically plays the role of the reporter in Detective, just relating all of the incidents he witnessed in an unusual murder/crime, and describing Tom Sawyer's scene-stealing exploits in the trial that follows. Many of the characters that appeared in the last half of Adv. of Huck Finn make a return appearance in Detective. But anyway, both books are enjoyable to read, especially considering that both are written in the 1st person, from Huck's perspective, yet don't read them expecting the depth and emotion that are found in the Adv. of Huck Finn. I think these books were written for a younger audience, and that's how they read. But, for a frustrating, yet very interesting look into what might have been, had Twain finished his other two planned sequels to Huckleberry Finn, you should check out the book "Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer Among the Indians," which contains two unfinished sequels that are both heads and tails better than Abroad and Detective: Among the Indians and Tom Sawyer's Conspiracy. But that's all I have to say about that.

Fails to Break Free of ADA Dogma
I bought this book recently hoping to share it with my children. I will not do so because the book suggests some practices that are not healthy.

For example the book recommends brushing with a flouride toothepaste. The "fluoride" used in toothepastes is virtually always calcium fluoride obtained as a by-product of the fertilizer and aluminum industries. This fluoride has not been demonstrated to help prevent cavities in any way. The ADA has suggested that "fluoride" prevents cavities. There is no science to back up this statement. I personally have done my best to avoid fluoride for the past two years, and I feel that my teeth are healthier than ever.

The book also fails to warn readers of the dangers of amalgam fillings. It claims that amalgam fillings are made from "silver and other metals." Ha. Dental amalgam actually has little to no silver in it. The amalgams are usually about 50% mercury, and other metals such as nickel and copper.

The book is beneficial only in that it recommends caring for your teeth by brushing and visiting a dentist.

Much better information will be found in such sources as Breiner's "Whole Body Dentistry", Morton's "Elements of Danger", Huggins' "Uninformed Consent", and Jerome's "Tooth Truth".

Great
This is an excellent choice for young readers. It is very comprehensive, interesting, and has excellent photographs. It is the most well-written book on this subject, and I have read them all! This is my number one choice for a children's book about dental health.

Useful Ideas
The book is basically a manual on how to asess your own chess and begin to cover up weaknesses and promote strengths. Emphasising the need for unviversality of style (covering weaknesses) it advocates a method of analysing the individuals games to come up with ways of strengthening openings, psychology and analysis at the board.

Perhaps the best of all Dvoretsky's works
Certainly this book can be approached by more players than most of Dvoretsky's other works. This book concentrates on self-improvement through the critical study of one's own chess games. Its a great book, though I now strongly believe that his later book Attack & Defense (Batsford, 1998) is a better effort.
