Duplicates Textbook
If you already own, or are planning to buy the textbook for the destinos series then this handbook is unnecessary as it only contains sections lifted directly from the textbook.

Good Company
In general, I have enjoyed using this handbook along with the Destinos program. The handbook contains exercises to use before, during and after viewing the episodes. Although I do not find the preview material particularly interesting, the sections that check for understanding of the episode are useful. In addition, the handbook gives the reader extra information about the characters. These sections make the video story more enjoyable and provide a chance to practice reading in Spanish. Another feature of the handbook that I particularly like is the "notas culturas" which expand on the culture of the Spanish countries which provide the setting for Destinos.

Trim (Quick Guide) by Mark Feirer
I read the review posted by the person from NC. Wish I had read it before I became one of the "1.5" million who purchased this book. I am also relieved that I was not as dumb as I thought, as I also found the "step-by-step" installation techniques to be shallow and unhelpful. I must also admit I am a fair weekend wood hacker but it's been awhile since I installed Crown. I would suggest you look elsewhere or pay to have it installed!!

Not recommended
This is not a helpful book in explaining the minute details of trimwork. I am a rather handy homeowner and the book does not adequately illustrate exactly how to install molding.

For instance, a mere 1/3 page of actual text is devoted to installing crown molding, probably the most confusing type to learn to cut, as the author admits. At the single most crucial part of the process the book gives these enlightening instructions: "Cut the inside miter joint. Crown molding should be place in the miter box upside down. That is, the edge that will go against the ceiling when you install the molding should be placed against the bottom of the miter box when you cut."

The next instruction says: "Cope the miter. Use a coping saw to cut along the profile line created by the saw. The profile line is the front edge of the molding."

I hope I haven't spoiled the plot here, but the book fails to explain that you should make the second cut at a 45 degree angle or exactly how to cope a miter. If I knew these things, I wouldn't be spending my $8 bucks on this little book. The Ortho series "how-to" of books might be better, but I haven't looked at that one yet.

If you can learn to install trim using the Quick Guide, please come over to my house when you're done.

Save your money.
This book has precious little to do with etiquette. It focuses rather on career advice--and nothing terribly worthwhile there either.

Basic, but good
I personally would not suggest actually purchasing this book (. . .)For starters, it's a book about professional etiquette, but, at least in my copy, there are countless spelling/grammatical errors. Kind of counter-productive to the purpose of this book, I would say. Although, if you're willing to overlook such things, it does give lots of concise, useful information that will save you a trip to a one of those career counselors. Some of this might not be new to you if you're a "veteran" of the workforce, but for newcomers, or relative newcomers to the process, it is useful.

Disappointing
This is a bland book with half-baked cliches, and seemed to almost be an excuse to use a lot of quotes from McCormack's sports clients. His other books are better.

Check out an online FAQ instead...
At first glance, it looks like a fairly comprehensive guide. But once you sit down and try to play through the game with it, it's flaws (and there are many) really begin to show. As Alundra 2 is a fairly linear title, there was a concentrated effort on providing a walkthrough of all the game's dungeons, rather than fill up pages with diagrams of towns and plot spoilers. This is a strong point of any strategy guide, this one in particular. However, being that a majority of the game is puzzle solving, a text based approach is simply not effective most of the time. The book mentions the puzzles to you, and merely says "solve the puzzle and the door will open" (or something to that effect) 50% of the time. This doesn't help players who can't figure out how to do this on their own (that's why they purchased the guide!). The few screenshots that accompany the generously margined pages are quite blurry, and thus do not help the player achieve any sense of orientation. And more often than not, these "screen shots" are placed 4 or 5 paragraphs after the solution (if there is one) is mentioned! Sometimes I had to flip back a page just to see what the caption was talking about. All of the major areas (and some of the minor ones) are mapped out in the back of the guide, but in such a small scale that it's impossible to make out anything from them, save where one room leads in to another. Every aspect of one game area was locked onto one or two pages (i.e., the first town, which has 2 areas, takes up one page, while one of the larger dungeons, with over 25 areas, also takes up one page--get the picture?). These maps are additonally incompletely labeled; you'll find no mention or pointing out of the powerful items, or half of the game's secrets for that matter. Mini-games are mentioned, but not in any bit of detail save where to find them. And forget about finding the puzzle pieces, special rings, and trading items. The only ones mentioned in the walkthrough are things I guarantee this author found; no effort was made to make this part of the book complete, and that was quite frustrating. The only other thing I consider a strong point to this book would be the enemy compendium and boss guide. Not that any of the game's creatures were that challenging, but an effort was made here to give the player as much information about the enemies as possible--this is as should be. But having this one piece doesn't make the guide outstanding. You're better off with an online FAQ to get you through the tougher puzzles and to help you locate the game's secrets.

An American Journey: Images of Railroading During the Depression

Railroads in thirties rural America
Another book of Farm Security Agency photos is always welcome and author Vandercook has found 140 that feature railroads (and some streetcars). All these photos tell a story because the photographers had very tight shooting scripts organised by their boss Roy Stryker, his railroad script had up to 80 items to be covered. Unfortunately the production of this book does not do justice to the wonderful images. The black areas of the photos end up as dark greys so reducing the depth of field, most of the photos look flat and dull, the typography and design is bland and uninviting. A pity because such wonderful photos deserve better

Roy Stryker and Nancy Wood co-authored a good selection of FSA photos in their book 'In This Proud Land' and the Library of Congress web site has a huge selection of FSA work accessible through their search engine.

AutoCad 2004
If you know something about Autocad save your money, this book is not for you. I bought this book because of the major changes from R3.3 to 2004. Hoping it would cover the new ways to Xref, plot, and so on. It does not, the book gives the broadest overview on these subjects if they get covered at all. To sum it up if you've never used AutoCad before then the book might be worthwhile to you. If you have any previous knowledge of Cad this book will not help much.

Slight
This book is either a heavily illustrated short story collection or a text-heavy comic. Its unusual format is its most original feature. Its plots are negligible, but its illustrations and text evoke a unique atmosphere of self-conscious nonconformism. Although its target audience is dare-to-be-different teens and college students, its interesting turns of phrase and expressive line drawings are not devoid of interest for general audences.

I felt this book gave a good understanding of the traditional versus modern life i the Phillipines. I felt this book could have been written better but it wasn't so, I only gave it 2 stars
