Essential resource for ritualists
As a Pagan and musician, I love this book! But you certainly don't have to be Pagan to use and enjoy this extensive collection of spiritual songs -- Many faiths are included here. The book is decidedly geared toward honoring the earth, the elements, the Spirit, and the Spirit within, and is essential for anyone following an Earth religion or who wishes to recognize their spiritual connection to both the Earth and Spirit in their worship. If you organize and/or write rituals for your religious group, you should not be without Circle of Song. The book is well organized, includes notations and sheet music for every song, and even suggests dances that can go along with some songs. Whether you honor Yemaya or Yahweh, God or the Goddess, you will be delighted with this valuable collection of songs and chants.

An excellent compilation
This book provides an excelent resource of movement and song to assist with meditation and reflection. It is firmly based in the Creation spirituality tradition and affirms alternative spiritualities and way of approaching God.

excellent resource
the songs here are gathered from many sources, but they all reflect a real joy. well organized for pagan use. you might also enjoy pagansong. i hope thet all this material will lead more people to use song in ritual and circle!

Excellent book for CCIE LAB Preparation
The toughest challenge today is finding all study materials comprehensively explained in one place ..I was looking for a book that i could use for enhancing my CCIE LAB preparation....THIS IS IT ... Each and every protocol for IP routing very clearly explained ....the authors have done a great job in precisely placing the examples ...I love the section on IS-IS , OSPF and BGP specifically. Worth every penny ..I'd highly recommend this for anyone preparing for the lab.

This should make it easier for you.
In the past year I have reviewed a number of books that cover routing, Cisco, CCNA and TCP/IP. Cisco IP Routing Handbook is the first to bring the topics together and make it easy to understand while at the same time delivering quality information.

In this 500 plus page reference manual you start off with a great breakdown of IP routing and the different types of routing. The author make easy work of how routing functions and what you need in order to make routing occur. Then the book breaks down the RIP protocol very well, however the book should have included RIP2 and what the similarities and differences are and how to use them separately and together.

The section on IGRP and EIRGP is also excellent, taking you from the basic understanding right through troubleshooting. This is the first book I have seen that was able to do this and do it well, although both protocols could have been given separate chapters for more detail.

OSPF is another protocol this book delves deeply into and this is by far the best breakdown of the topic. The configuration section is highly informative and for the most part easy enough to follow without getting lost.

The BGP Protocol section is broken down to explain, in great detail, what is required to make this protocol work both an IBGP and EBGP. The advanced configuration section leaves nothing out and the troubleshooting section give clear, concise explanations of how to make the protocol work and work correctly.

Other section of their book covers topics like static and default routing, redistribution routing and DDR. Each section sheds enormous light on the best methods and ways to make sure your routers are setup and running properly.

Finally the appendicles included cover access list configuration, routing with VLANs, which could have been given a section in the book if the information was expanded. About the only drawback, and a very small one, is there was no real coverage of TCP/IP and subnetting, which if included would add more value to the book.

Overall this book can be used as a handy reference manual and a study guide for Cisco tests. The price is small in comparison to what you get.

Handy and practical
This is one of those books you can classify as 'no nonsense'. I was browsing the bookstore to look up an IS-IS problem and just happened to pick up this book and to my astonishment it had 45 pages of IS-IS config and troubleshooting, diagrams, IOS output and what not. I just had to get my hands on this book.

The book starts from the basics of IP routing with cisco IOS in mind, even tell you about 'routed' vs 'routing' protocols! The protocol coverage starts from RIP then moving on to IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS and BGP. It has an entire chapters on Static and default routing, Redistributing routes, DDR. Appendix has a nice brief discussion of access lists, VLANs, NAT and HSSRP.

If you deal with cisco routers, you got to have this book. Specially the beginners can get a lot from the text coz it not only covers the config issues but also the theory behind various routing protocols.

All in all, a pleasant book to own and benefit from. And yes I did find solution to my IS-IS problem in the book.

climbing back-a honest look at the human side of cancer
After reading this remarkable journey of Mark Gerner, I felt that I can better understand the life choices and experiences of a cancer patient. His courage not only to have fought with cancer, but to write such an honest book gives him 5 stars! This book is a must for anyone who face trials-whether it be cancer or not.

A personal, philosophical and technical approach to cancer.
This book captures a repeated bout with cancer from various approaches and angles. Mark Gerner (COL) creatively exposes the reader to his personal insight and his first hand dealings with cancer, while also interjecting medical terms simplistically expressed within the text, to educate the reader about cancer and to help shed light on the darkness of the unknown. His sharing of very personal experiences reveals the tenderness and strength of a man, his family, and the truth of cancer. This is a must read to educate not only those who have cancer or know someone with cancer, but it is for those who need to read about facing an unimaginable feat, and be able to climb back and triumph.

A captivating true story!
Climbing Back is the fascinating story of Mark Gerner's incredible journey from everyday family and military career person to cancer survivor. In this book, the reader is transported from a life in full swing to life in the balance to a life that is barely recognisable and back again! Through his frank and honest writing, the author enables the reader to share the agony, the pain and the unknowns that he discovered during his periods of tragedy and recovery.

Mark Gerner openly shares his experiences, emotions and thoughts in a way that not only provide the reader with insight but with medical facts and a bird's eye view of the treatments he received. I finished this book with a greater understanding of what it means to be 'treated' medically and a far greater respect and understanding for anyone whose life's journey is interrupted with this disease.

This book is a great read for anyone interested in personal triumph and a definite MUST READ for anyone who is, or knows, someone battling cancer.

This is for the REAL beatles fans
This is the kind of book that you would read cover to cover. But if you were a fussy fan you would want this book in your collection for reference.

Best of the best!!
The best book about the Beatles, with "The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions", of same author.

Amazing
Mark Lewisohn set a new standard for primary source research in rock music. This vastly informative book combines, in slightly truncated form, his brilliant day-by-day books "The Beatles Recording Sessions" and "The Beatles Live." Also included are film and radio appearances. Along the way are many suitable and wonderful photographs. Great for browsing or for obsessive fans to devour start to finish.

Very well written...
Mark did a GR8 job thowing so much, 'End-times' info in a single user-friendly little book. Note, this book is for peaple who all-ready understand a little bit about The book of Revelation. I would not recomend this for the very new-believer. Mark is truly a blessed man whose written some other blessed books as well.

Excellent overview of pre-mill/pre-trib/dispensationalism
Mark Hitchcock has compiled an excellent primer on end-times prophecy as it relates to the pre-millenialist/pre-tribulation rapture camp. This is essentially a well organized compilation of a popular church perspective on end-times events advocated by many, including the popular Hal Lindsey (Late Great Planet Earth) and Tim Lahaye (Left Behind series). On the back cover, the author's information has him pursuing a doctoral degree from Dallas Theological Seminary so it stands to reason that this book is dispensational. Most of the scripture references are from the New Living Translation, a bit odd but then again the publisher of the book is Tyndale, which publishes the NLT as well.

The book is a very clear and well organized and will teach you prophecy from their viewpoint. While the book claims to be 'complete' it really only gives you very, very short explanations of the other viewpoints. Nonetheless, there is a wealth of information included on other subjects that most other books on prophecy omit. I especially appreciate that fact that the author treats other viewpoints of prophecy graciously and doesn't ridicule them. There are many excellent charts, outlines, and lists included in the book that makes this an excellent reference source. There is a question and answer section at the end of the book that is particularly useful. The typesetting and layout are modern and very well done.

I was hoping that this book would deal with 2 Thess. 2:1-4 and the timing of the rapture but the author has avoided it as many in the pre-trib camp do. While these verses and the chapter in general are referenced about eight times throughout the book, it is always in reference to other events described within (restrainer, power & signs, antichrist seated in temple, day of the Lord, etc). There is no integration of this set of verses as they concern timing with the pre-trib doctrine, probably since this is a problem verse that just doesn't work with pre-trib doctrine. For an excellent treatment on this subject for comparitive study get Robert Van Kampen's book "The Rapture Question Answered." Van Kampen's book is an argument against pre-trib so be prepared for a more confrontational tone; but it is a must read if you want to be exposed to other equally valid viewpoints on the rapture.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject but make sure your studies are balanced with books on other viewpoints (preterist, pre-wrath, amillenialism) and make up your own mind about what the scriptures really do say. Too often, authors of books include information that make their case but leave out facts that will weaken (sometimes considerably) their position. By studying as many viewpoints as possible, you'll get a larger set of facts in which to base your opinion on. Just because it's in print doesn't mean it's correct. There are many learned and Godly people with differing viewpoints so don't hang your hopes on just one set of theories, no matter how persuasive or popular they might be.

Excellent Book!!!! :o)
I found this book to be VERY informative, and was done in such a manner that it is very organized. The layout makes it possible to use it as a review book, and look up almost anything you are seeking in regard to end times prophecy. In addition, it makes an excellent resource for doing your own bible study on Revelation. There is so much scripture quoted, just keep your bible alongside as you read, and when you get to noted scripture, look it up and nearly everything is made clear. This is definitely a book for christians that believe that the bible is God's literal word. Recommended highly.

A family library "must have"!
I purchased my first copy of this book back in the mid 80's. I'm now working on replacing my 2nd copy because it no longer has the cover and is VERY well used between myself and my children. It's saved many an unnecessary trip to the doctor and also ensured good communication for the times we did need to see the doctor.

People think I'm a genius because of this book.
I once had a housekeeper who was sick for several months. Finally I made her sit down and tell me her symptoms. I consulted this book and couldn't tell from her symptoms what she had -- but I knew it was either gallstones, a bleeding ulcer, or pancreatitis. I made her leave my house and go to the doctor. A week later, she called me from the hospital. Her gallbladder had been removed, her bleeding ulcer had been repaired, and she was under treatment for pancreatitis. Every time I use this book, the results blow me away. I've had to stop telling doctors what rare disease I have because the opthamologist was so irate when I diagnosed my iritis before he did.

Easy to read and informative.
The book is organized. It is easy to find what you are looking for. It is a book that you will use frequently. This is my second copy and I have purchased one for a family member.

A Desperately Needed Book! EXCELLENT!!
With all of the recent information floating around about "High-Speed" internet connections, one can literally go insane trying to decipher fact from fiction, not to mention attempting to figure out which service is right for YOU. When I came across this book, which I did here on amazon, I was very excited, but still unsure of what I would be getting my hands on. I thought that perhaps it would assist me a little here or there, and help out with the most basic information possible.

To my surprise, and delight, this book was truly AWESOME. So much so that I just received it a couple of weeks ago, and I'm now on my second reading. The book is packed with information. It not only delves into the aspects of Cable Modems and DSL(which is does so very intensely), but also tells you how you can optimize your standard dial-up modem connection to the internet. You can't lose with this book--if you already have an internet connection, the knowledge on getting the most out of THAT hook-up is worth the price of the book. In addition, the author definitely has a sense of humor, and that REALLY helps when you sit down to read a book, and along with educating you, you're also given a dose of humor that's JUST ENOUGH to make the education FUN.

The book also gives the reader information on what to do in order to have your computer completely in order BEFORE the installation of a broadband hook-up takes place, whether you do it yourself, or somebody's going to be installing it for you. This book even delves into how computers work, and the processes of computers connecting to one another to put the wheels of the internet into motion. The reader won't be BOGGED down with this, however, as the book is written in a very clear, concise manner. You'll also learn little tricks here and there throughout the book on how to maintain your computer for overall optimal performace. What a great book--I couldn't recommend it more highly!

Clearly Explains Your Choices
DSL? Cable Modem? Satellite? Wireless? These are among the choices you will have to make if you decide to "upgrade" to high speed Internet access. It's difficult to know which one will work best for you. This book helps to explain the differences between each of them. The introductory part explains ways to get higher speeds from your current analog modem before diving into the different kinds of high speed Internet options you have.

The second part of the book is divided into chapters explaining ISDN, DSL, satellite, and wireless Internet and how each one works. It also gives you an idea of which specific type might work best for your individual needs. The next part of the book is divided into chapters explaining how to install whichever service you've decided on, complete with "installation checklists" at the end of these chapters.

There are also a couple chapters devoted to keeping your PC secure from "hacker attacks," which is always a problem, but even more so if you have this kind of Internet connection. Finally, there's a section devoted to troubleshooting problems, even a glossary at the book's end so you can familiarize yourself with related terms, and if nothing else amaze your friends with your knowledge of this technology!

This book provides an excellent overview of the high speed Internt technology available today.

An excellent introduction, with something for everyone
I have read some of Mark Soper's work before (Upgrading and Repairing PCs, SmartComputing, etc.) and have always found it to informative and relevant to what I needed. This book is no exception. Incredibly readable and humorous for a computer book, it provides an excellent balance between technical detail and practical knowledge. Easy to understand and yet packed with information, this is a must have book for anyone even slightly interested in high-speed Internet access. I recommend this book to anyone who is considering broadband, anyone who already has it, or just anyone who enjoys emerging technologies.

Delighted
I am delighted with how quickly and easily I have learned to speak Spanish with Complete Spanish for Dimwits. The tapes are so intelligently organized that even a small amount of vocabulary can be immediately used in speaking Spanish and serves as a solid base for enlarging your skills in that language.

Excellent Method and Great Course!
I began speaking Spanish from the very first minute I started listening to Complete Spanish for Dimwits. The method is so easy that even a novice learner can begin speaking practical, yet original Spanish within minutes.
The method is extremely effective yet spontaneous enough to hold your attention, and best of all, no dictionary is needed. All the English equivalents are included on the tapes along with the native Spanish speaker.

Finally. A Course That Fast, Fun, and Easy!!!
I breathed a sigh of relief when I received my 'Spanish for Dimwits' course from Amazon and I realized that I 'at last' had found an original.
Of the many methods I have experienced, this is by far the fastest and easiest I have experienced. The native speaker is clear as a bell and the American instructor talks you through the tapes explaning everything so you don't have to guess.
I bought a Spanish dictionary to help me learn with this course and guess what? I haven't used it once. Why should I? The explanations and translations are given to you 'immediately' on the tapes and in the learning guide.

Tell it like it is, brotha
Finally, someone steps up and tells it how it is. Enough Dr. Phil, this book really shows you the ropes without the sugar coating. Entertaining, witty, and education. Definitely a book every real man should have.

Off the friggin' charts
I've read about a million relationship books before. No, make that two million. But I don't care how many you've read in your life, you ain't never read anything like this. This is without a doubt the most hysterical, most insane, most off the wall book that has ever been written. I didn't just laugh, I think I actually peed blood I was in such hysterics. The authors take you from the day you're born until the day you die and give you tremendous insight into anything that could possibly happen to you. And they do it in a way that will keep you absolutely doubled over the entire time. Don't read this book in a library or at work. You'll enrage every one around you because you won't be able to shut up. Simply unbelievable.

A Must Read For Men And Women
For women, at first this somewhat mysoginistic diatribe about conquest may leave you with a pit in your stomach and a desire to immediately commit that a**hole of your past or present into an iron maiden. But this book is a treasure ladies, as it is a window into the soul of most of the men you've dated, are dating, or may date in the future. Burn "The Rules" and its progeny; keep this one on your bedstand and memorize it. Introduce it at your next bookclub, but nix the wine as you'll need tequila shots to make it through this piece of non-fiction. Rather than attracting a**holes, you'll now have the uncanny ability to spot an a**hole a mile away and run for cover before he's trapped you in his web.

For men, this book doesn't beat around the bush (pun intended) as it describes in graphic detail how to - ahem - conquer as many women as possible, in more positions than the Kama Sutra can describe, from womb to tomb. In no uncertain terms, it will turn the "nicest guy" (what a curse) into an a**hole so quickly that you'll have Penthouse playmates begging you to take them home with you. Even some of us nice girls will come your way (unless we've read the book before you!) Don't keep this one on your bookstand, however, as your secret will soon be revealed. Keep it under your bed along with your useless girlie magazines, and memorize it verbatim. I highly recommend that you also take a juggling class, as you'll need to learn this skill when you try to manage all the new women in your life. Happy hunting!

An Excellent Introduction
I am not a Linguist, but this book helped me to appreciate all of the differing theories and various fields within what is known as linguistics. If you are seeking a book that is simple to read, yet very comprehensive, I recommend this volume. If you enjoy languages, speech development, regional dialects, language acquisition, theory of language, language trends, and more - this book is for you.

Major disciplines coverd include: phonetics, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Also included in this new addition are new chapters on second language acquisition and psycholinguistics.

One of the best features of this text is how well it is laid out. It is a pleasure to peruse and even study because of it's logical and user friendly format.

If you love anything about language- whether knowing it's origins, or what part of the mouth is used to create certain sounds, or how language changes over time and for what reasons, or a host of other curiosities, you will certainly enjoy the wealth of information within Contemporary Linguistics!

Excellent introduction to linguistics
"Contemporary Linguistics" (CL) is a wonderfully clear and accessible introduction to the field of linguistics. The authors begin by introducing the methodological assumptions that underlie present day Chomskyan linguistics and then reserve a chapter each for almost all major research directions within linguistics.

One thing in particular that I liked about the format of CL was the treatment of more advanced material (marked "Advanced") in each chapter. The "Advanced" sections augment the material in the rest of the chapter and are placed in logical sequence with the rest of the material instead of appearing in an appendix at the end of the chapter. For example, a section marked "advanced" on X' (read X-bar) Theory appears fairly early in the syntax chapter. Having some knowledge of X' Theory allows the reader to proceed to examine the rest of the material with the knowledge that there exists an intermediate level of structure between lexical categories (N, V, ...) and phrasal categories (NP, VP, ...).

Most chapters in CL are pretty well written and technical tools to treat linguistic phenomena are almost always introduced at the correct juncture. However, CL does not treat Innateness properly (why Innateness and arguments for and against Innateness), and has a weak chapter on semantics. The reader would do well to augment the material in CL by reading Pinker's "The Language Instinct" or Jackendoff's "Patterns in the Mind" for a non-technical introduction to some ideas in linguistics, as well as sections of De Swart's "Intro to Natural Language Semantics" to get an idea of how semantics is done. If the reader is interested in looking at language from a cognitive science perspective, she would also do well to read most of Gleitman et al's "An Invitation to Cognitive Science: Language".

All in all, CL provides a relatively painless initiation into linguistics and I highly recommend it.

Highly recommended. Very accessible.
Speaking as a newcomer to the subject, I found this book to be an excellent intro. Very useful.
