The magic modern german art.
I found in Amazon this great book, of one of the most important painters that headed the modern art in painting in germany. It is very difficult to find books from this artist, part of the Blue Rider Grup (Der Blaue Reiter). So it is great that amazon provided us with such a treasure.

It really does contain valuable information on card cheating
When I first received this book, I wasn't overly impressed with the size (105 pages) and the fact that it was a paperback for its relatively high price tag. BUT, Bert Morris jam packs this small publication with terrific information, insights and a wealth of detail about card sharks! I loved it. It is enjoyable reading for the amateur card player trying to keep himself/herself from getting taken. I have done a lot of research on the subject of card cheating and I agree that 99% of the information and cheating methods exposed in this book are not printed anywhere. I often play in private poker games in West Texas as well as Hold-em and OMaha high-low in Casinos all over the country whenever I can. This book is invaluable!

Friendship with Jesus
WOW what a wonderful way to experience the living God! I was very taken with the way this writer can make you release the everyday world and go to a place where you are walking with Jesus. It is easy to say what you would do in the situations from the writings of Mark....but when placed in the actual scene that was taking place in the life of Jesus, it is far harder to say you would have been one of his faithful followers!

A fascinating cast of Civil War personalities!
Franklin's life reads like an action-adventure story! Using previously undiscovered letters and meticulous research of the period, Mark Snell has brought to light a man whose life parallels the development of the United States through the 19th century. As an infant, William B. Franklin had been kissed by Lafayette and given, as were the fledgling United States, the blessing of that great proponent of American independence. Graduating first in his class at West Point, Franklin pursued an Army career in the Corps of Topographical Engineers, deeply involved in building the infrastructure which would support and define America's burgeoning industrial economy . . . mapping western territories and surveying Great Lake shorelines, building innovative coastal lighthouses, and serving as project manager for the DC capitol dome. At the outbreak of the Civil War, Franklin advised the Lincoln administration on how to expand the Regular Army, just the beggining of his interaction with many of the "big dogs" in that political and military struggle. He rose in rank and was a principal player in some of the war's most renown campaigns: First Bull Run, the Peninsula Campaign, Second Bull Run, Fredericksburg, the Red River Campaign. He was even captured by Confederates and made a daring escape!

Of most interest to Civil War aficionados, Snell disputes Franklin's alleged "failure" at Fredericksburg and presents a solid argument for his true failure during the Maryland Campaign. Had Franklin been more aggressive following his success at Crampton's Gap on September 14, 1862, McClellan might have trounced Lee thoroughly at Sharpsburg, surely shortening the war. New information on Franklin's participation in the Red River Campaign is also fascinating. Following the war, Franklin ventured into a life of public service and business -- such as overseeing The National Home for Disabled Veterans and managing the Colt Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company -- and finally bowed out gracefully with the beginning of the new century.

This is a fair and objective biography of a truly selfless patriot, whose life teaches us about the century during which America defined itself as a nation, a man whose vigor, enthusiasm, and accomplishment matched that of the dynamic era during which he lived.

Like having a local in the backseat.
This book is an invaluable tool. We took our first trip to Ireland this fall and if we looked at it once, we looked at it 50 times a day. Driving around the country with no itinerary, it provided great commentary on restaurants, towns to see, and especially B&B's.

Enticing adventures, splendidly wrapped
This book, part of a new series, describes 25 adventures in 7 South American countries, 5 each in Venezuela and Argentina, 4 in Peru, 3 each in Ecuador, Brazil and Chile, and 2 in Bolivia. Whatever mode of transportation you may prefer, there is something to fit your taste, from flying to rafting and 4-wheel-driving, from mountain-biking to horse-riding and hiking. Each adventure is described in 6 to 12 lavishly illustrated pages, and the back of the book has a 60-page section with practical information. Clearly, these 60 pages cannot cover all the possibilities in all the areas discussed, let alone other areas in the 7 countries the book deals with (I had a wonderful adventure week in the Ecuadorian Amazon, for instance, that is not mentioned in the book). If you want to make detailed plans for an extensive trip on your own, you will need more than this volume. But if you are looking for armchair adventure, or for inspiration for that adventuresome part in you that is itching to go to some far-off place, or if you just want to get started with lots of attractively presented information about some highlights that you can build a trip around, this is a wonderful book. It is probably the most visually attractive guidebook I have seen, with lots of National Geographic style photography that will make the would-be adventurer's mouth water (even more attractively presented than the volumes in Fodor's Exploring series, or DK's Eyewitness guides, or the Insight guides series). Whether you are looking to canoe through a flooded forest, stay on a ranch in the world's largest swamp, hike some of the continent's highest mountains, watch wildlife along the coast, or search for dinosaur bones, this book has an adventure wrapped up for you.

Well Worth It
I find the Frommer's guides to be very helpful for my trips to Ireland especially. This one is perfect if you plan on visiting Dublin. As in other Frommer guides this book starts with the "Best Of" in Dublin, how to get there and what you'll need when planning your trip. It then goes on to getting to know Dublin, places to stay, places to eat and drink, attractions, shopping and night life. Additionally, this guide includes places that you can easily visit just outside of Dublin City in Counties Wicklow and Kildare. The review continues with hours and dates places are open as well as prices for attractions, for accommodations and for dining. For each category there are phone numbers, web sites, if available, and general maps of the area. A newer version of the is book is due to come out any day now but probably has similar information only with updated prices. If you only have time for Dublin, or want to spend your time doing nothing else but Dublin, this little pocket guide is the only one you'll need!
