God and Goodness: A Natural Theological Perspective
Published in Library Binding by Routledge (November, 1999)
Author: Mark Wynn

Average review score:

The Direction In Which The Teleological Argument Should Go!
this is by far the most refreshing presentation of the argument from design that i have ever seen. i highly recommend this book, and further, i recommend that it be seen as a starting point of sorts for further developments of the teleological argument. also, the focus on, and centralization of, aesthetic experience invites the reader to an existential response which places our lives in a new context, therefore changing not only our lives, but our way of looking at ourselves, each other, and the world, and seeing God as both the reference point and the eschatological aim of all of these relationships. wynn's handling of the problem of evil is also engaging.
this book is excellent, worth both the price, and the wait. the call for the mind to be baptized, so to speak, by beauty, will have drastic consequences in both our lives, and the philosophy of religion. wynn's work is a starting point in this quest. enjoy!

GOD IS! woke me up and warmed me to the core.
GOD IS! is not a treatise out to prove God's existence. Mark Littleton seems to feel that would be superfluous. The book might be titled GOD IS...., for it is made up of tender, strong vignettes about what God is like. Page one begins, "How great is God's love?... 'It's like the Amazon River flowing down to water one daisy.'" Some stories settled on my heart as sweetly as grains of sugar. Others were soothing medicine to sore places inside me. I also felt at times a piercing, correcting some of my misconceptions. The words about God deeply touched and uplifted me. I think this author, like Abraham, must be known by God as His friend. Max Lucado couldn't have said it any more warmly.

Elvis, Cupid, and Stercutus! O MY!
Mr. Finn's book, Gods New and Used, is the perfect thing for people who don't like fantasy, but know what they like. Each story give little tidbits that add up, like nested boxes, until finally in the last story, everything comes together. My favorite novelette is The Secret Life of Lawrence Croft. It's funny, mean, scary, and very true to life. If you are a member of fandom, this book is over the top!...

An excellent introduction to how World War I was fought
Despite what you see on the cover "Going to War in World War I" does much, much more than show the uniforms worn by the soliders on both sides. In just the first few pages there was a breakdown of a British Infrantry Division and a detailed diagram of trench warfare. Adrian Gilbert deals with even the most mundane activities of the war such as rat-catching and de-lousing. The last part of the book deals more specifically with the history of the war as well as new methods of warfare such as the first tanks and artifical trees (used for observation posts). This volume is illustrated by several artists and also includes black & white period photographs. Gilbert covers a lot of basics, providing young readers with much more than a introduction to what it was like for soliders in the Great War, so I was pleasantly surprised by what I found in these pages. Other titles in the Armies of the Past series look at Ancient Egypt and Greece, the times of the Romans and Vikings, and the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as World War II.

The Golden Age of Superman : The Greatest Covers of Action C
The Greatest Covers of Action Comics from the 30's to the 50's is a must have for any Superman fan interested in learning about the man of steels early adventures. Although you do not get to actually read these hard to find comics the covers alone are enough to stimulate the imagination and give a good idea of the man of steels past. For anyone else that loved this book I would also recommend The Silver Age of Superman

A Wonderful Book
This is an amazing book. The original drawings of the objects, especially when shown near the finished works, help to illustrate the attention to detail that Faberge paid to his work. These illustrations, along with the information on the history, style, and clientele of the firm, put Faberge's work in context and provide a greater understanding of it than most books, which just deal with the completed objects. I highly reccommend this book to anyone who has any interest in Faberge or Imperial Russia.

Understanding and not being afraid to talk about dying.
Understanding that one need not be afraid of dying, death, and funerals. Mark H. Shearon gives us a delightful insight to growing up in a funeral home, when all funeral directors lived in their place of employment. Mr. Shearon also gives us practical tips on preparing for someone's funeral or our own funeral. He also gives us ideas as to how to celebrate the life of the person who has died or how we would like our own funeral service be conducted.

strong historical mystery
The Civil War has been over for six months but General Ulysses S. Grant remains the hero who won the war and preserved the nation. Everyone agrees that Andrew Johnson is a one-term president and that General Grant will in all probability be the next president. Grant tours the county, campaigning to win the presidency if he chooses to run. On his way to Cincinnati, he stops at the small Ohio town of Bethel where five of his childhood friends reside.

All five of the men spent time in Andersonville, a horrible prison where federal inmates lived in horrific conditions. Grant attends one friend's funeral and before long two other pals are dead. His son finds gold coins in the home of the widow and it isn't long before one of the two remaining friends tell him they returned with gold that was part of the confederate treasury. The two survivors don't know where the booty is hidden and somebody else knows about the loot and will kill to keep the others from having it.

In A GOOD SOLDIER, readers observe Ulysses S. Grant, as a person who has known the horrors of war and still grieves for the men that were killed and the nation that remains divided in principle. The audience also sees an individual who adores his wife and youngsters. The audience also sees glimpses of the general who once committed to a cause sees it through to the bitter end. Though a strong historical mystery, the key character enables the author to make his mark as a gifted storyteller who makes history come alive.
