This book seemed long when I considered it for my active 5 year old and I debated his ability to sit through it. He was hanging on my every word and was touched by the message sent by the book. This is not a silly story it is a tool to teach with. It is a life lesson that needs to be learned put to a beautiful story and the illustrations are wonderful! We went to the library today to get The Farmer also by Mark Ludy and I am sure it will be just as great! These are a great gift idea!

I had the opportunity to get my hands on a copy of this book and I must say that the story is wonderful. The illustrations are some of the richest I have ever seen in a children's book. My favorite part of this book is how delightful searching for the mouse is. I understand that this is a signature illustration of Mr.Ludy's books and I must say after having handed this book around my work, the mouse is fun for children AND adults of all ages.

I've only spent about 6 hours with this book and CD, but I know I'm going to get TOP value for my money. I would actually call myself a "beginner" - I started playing accoustic less than 4 years ago, but have had no formal training at all - picking up bits and pieces as I go along - and time for practising is always too little. I decided to buy an electric guitar, and this is the first time I'm really utilising it - i.e. playing something that doesn't belong on the old accoustic. I'm a great fan of Mark Knopfler's music, and I cannot describe the feeling of playing the intro and first verse of Sultans of Swing together with the great man after about 4 hours of practising! I have only paged through the rest of the book, but from what I've seen and heard, this book and CD is spot-on. The CD itself, with "backtrack" on one channel and guitar on the other (which makes it easy to separate), as well as slowed down tracks, is brilliant! Yes, the songs are very complicated, and I know this book is going to keep me practicing for years to come, but it will be worth it!

To see how he does it, look no further! I wanted this primarily for a Knopfler rarity among Tab books, PLANET OF NEW ORLEANS, and I got more than I bargained for! Not only is the transcription spot-on, but the accompanying CD highlights the author's amazing fretboard prowess! He has Knopfler's Pensa-Suhr/Soldano tone nailed! Getting back to the book. It covers a fairly broad range of Dire Straits tracks. All of the "greatest hits",plus a few from the last studio album, ON EVERY STREET. Due to the highly technical level of MK's playing,and the very accurate renditions transcribed in this book, I would have to say that it is most definitely not for beginners! In the text accompanying "PLANET....", Wolf Marshall(the author) describes MK's "gorgeous elastic phrasing", and that approach, believe me, is beyond the reach of most intermediate players,too. So I would have to recommend it as suitable for higher intermediate/advanced players only. I've been playing for 36 years, and some of this is still beyond me! However, it's a bargain at the price, and the before-mentioned CD alone is worth the money! The tracks are as follows.

This book is a great resource for engineers and scientists in the field. I have several other texts on diamond but found this one to be the best. I use it all of the time.

The industrial handbook of diamond and diamond films is the most comprehensive text on the subject of industrial diamond available. I would rate it as the finest available and highly recommend it. It is well thought out and well written. It is obvious that a great deal of work and care went into the preparation of the text. I have used it as a reference text extensively over the past year and it has been outstanding. This text has saved me hundreds of hours.

You will never see a book like this again. Mark Hale has created the perfect manual to research metal history. This is the History of Metal, all meat no filler! This book also has some great promo photos of bands that a true fan of metal will enjoy

I first saw this book at my local library back in 1995. I had to have one for myself. This book lists hard rock/heavy metal bands from the 60's to about 1991. it cross-references bands and their members and give record label and catalog number information. This is a must for any metal head. Do not bother with Martin Popoff's Heavy Metal Guide, it's very biased. This book just lists the facts as Mark Hale researched them. i recently showed it to Jon Schaffer of iced Earth and James Rivera of Helstar and they were very impressed. It's well worth the price.

This is a brilliant book, a definite must read for both parents and professionals! It is the most direct and honest book of its kind, actually, the only one of its kind... Mr. Barnes has done what no other has, which is to write with compassion and honesty about what parenting, child therapy and play is all about! This is a must read for anyone living or working with children. People joke about wishing children would come with instructions when they are born...well this is the book! Those of us who are raising children of our own and those of us who work with children need to read this book! Thankyou to Mr. Barnes for writing this beautiful masterpiece!

This text covers it all with regard to child psychology, child-rearing and child therapy and no holds are barred in confronting the mental health field's ineptitude in dealing with children. The author covers children's needs, parenting skills, and therapeutic interventions that both professionals and parents will find of indespensible value. I cannot imagine a more helpful child psychology, play therapy, or parenting skills book ever being written. A definite highest possible rating for this masterpiece. I was a skeptic...the operative word being "was"...of these types of materials. However, this tape changed how I look at relaxation and stress mgmt. I manage an Employee Assistance Program and so deal with stress in my work every day. I have found this to be extremely helpful in offering to my clients and/or playing at lunch and learns to help people understand that it's not some crazy hypnosis... It's simple relaxation, and it works. This tape starts off a little cheesy if you're not used to this type of thing, but once you allow yourself to get into it, it really works!! Don't use while driving!!!

By far Belleruth's tapes are the best in applying guided imagery to health and healing. Her tapes inspire as they help you focus your mind on healing your body. Highly recommended!

I have never read words that were so profound or so graphic. It is like a beautiful melody to my heart. Mark Anthony Grubb's poems play lip service to feelings I've never been able to express. Awesome.

I really was was touched by this poetry book. It was so spiritual. I have been looking for some way to express the way I have felt for so long and now this book is here for me to always refer to.

Reading this cookbook is like taking a journey to my past in the mountains of Kentucky. My parents and grandparents (and on back for generations) all lived in the southeastern part of KY (in the Appalachian mountains). My favorite memories are of my grandmother's wonderful country cooking. She's 96 now and I live in New Mexico, so I can't get recipes from her easily (no, she's not on the web!). Now that my hobby is cooking, I want to cook like she did!

When I picked up this cookbook, I knew I had found the recipes! All the wonderful old favorites I remember are in here, and yes, he gives exact measurements. Trying to get my grandmother to write down her recipes was impossible - it was always 'a dash of this and a splash of that'!

For each recipe in this book, he gives a 'difficulty' rating (Easy, Moderate, Difficult), and explains why he gives such a rating (which helps when you're pressed for time). He also gives 'Healthy Choice Alternative' suggestions (although I can't imagine southern cooking without the butter, lard, sugar, etc.). Along with the recipes are stories of the mountain people and discussions on ingredients, etc.

Let's just say this ... if you want a cookbook that gives you tried and true southern/mountain recipes, buy this one!
