Mark J.'s Critical Review of Meat
I think Meat is an excellent book. It's a very intriguing work. It made me think a lot about my life and how I fit into the equation: who am I? what do I stand for? Things like that. I found inspiration within Meat, a lot of knowledge, a lot of basics about God and Jesus, and what is expected of us all. I realize more plainly the areas which I need to improve, and how I should proceed about that. What I'm trying to say is that I gained a lot of knowledge and my faith was strengthened! I loved the bible passages which were included in Meat. Faith is a very key central theme, and faith is something very difficult to grow; I feel much more secure with what I'm doing in life now. Meat helped me quite a bit!

The poetry in Meat was very diverse. The earlier ones seem to deal with things like depression, pain, sacrifice, death, hatred, and life's losses. I identified with them a lot. The later ones were a little different, some of a more positive tone, showing things like hope and truth. Some paralleled the nature of life and individuals, some was symbolic. I don't like a lot of poetry, but I liked about 80-90% of these ones!

The short stories were quite stimulating. The theories were well-thought and very meditative. The quotations were a lot of fun and also thought-provoking, as was most of the material in Meat! Some of the quotes are pretty deep, and I think about them from time to time. Maybe I need a little time to let them bake on my brain! I do like it all very well though! I give a strong recommendation on Meat!

Marie's Review of MEAT
I thought this was an excellent book! MEAT is very entertaining in addition to its therapeutic value. I liked the cover, too, because it's simple in design and easy to read. MEAT is divided into 3 non-related sections, although some parts seem to be 'of the same thread' as other parts.

Part 1 is THE MESSAGE. It is about human life on earth, touching upon trials and difficulties, then moving up the ladder to victory and success. This section stresses a firm foundation through Christ-based spirituality, and while it is brief and concise, it does not omit anything essential. Every once in a while Kilgore tosses in a relevant Bible passage to fortify his position, and I love his selections! I cannot emphasize enough the purity and brilliance here! YOU MUST SEE FOR YOURSELF!

Part 2 is THE POEMS, and they are very good! There is a wide variety of poetic forms and subjects. Some of these are as majestic and bright as the material in part 1, and some are completely opposite, delving into the depths of the human subconscious, complete with fear and evil. Although I enjoyed the nice ones best, I also appreciated the value of the dark ones.

Part 3 is THE EXCERPTS. Again, very good. Included are some short stories, note-worthy quotations, and some theories. I like one of the theories in particular, titled 'The Theory of McGwire and 70'. It deals with theology, numbers, and the unusual major league baseball season of 1998, emphasizing the possibly evil nature of the number 6, and the possibly divine nature of the number 7. I liked the quotes a lot, too!

This is one of the best books ever! I highly recommend it! I often re-read certain sections from time to time. MEAT holds a special place on my bookshelf, and a special place in my heart.

Lorena's MEAT book review
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It instantly captivated my attention because of the cover art, with its simplicity, direct nature, the dark bloody red background, with visible brush strokes, and the huge brilliant title lettering.

It was a fun, adventurous tour. Right from the start, everything seemed so basic and pure, very original. I often wondered where the author got the idea of this book, because it was a totally different format from any other book that I had read. During the reading, I had to pause for thought at least 100 times, because it is so deep! Definately a book for heavy thinkers. This books is divided into 3 parts:

THE MESSAGE was about life, illustrating first the struggles and failures, then how to seek truth through God and Jesus, and how to properly begin and build your individual relationship with Him. I thought it was extremely well-written, and I was impressed by the simplicity and logic. THE MESSAGE is something I wish everybody could read; so much good would result, in my opinion! I wish I could find the right words, but believe me: MEAT has the right words. Please give it a shot. You will not regret this, I GUARANTEE!

THE POEMS were very diverse, stimulating me in a wide variety of ways. I wondered if some of them are true, or at least based on the author's real-life experiences. I was certainly entertained by these passages! At one point, the poetry seemed to shift gears and I pondered mightily at the multiple possible meanings! I'm still developing my own theories about some of these poems!

THE EXCERPTS were also very good. I enjoyed the short stories and theories, but my favorite was the quotes! The word DEEP just continues to pervade my thoughts. It's all good.

In summary, I highly recommend you read MEAT. I often pick it back up, to refresh my memory of a particular piece. Sometimes when I do this, I lose myself and forget that time is passing! That is the ultimate compliment for a book! 5 stars all the way!

Mark E Haas: New Royal Historian of Oz -review by S Shipman
"The Medicine Man of Oz" by Mark E. Haas is the best Oz book to come along in many years--a good old-fashioned fairy-tale adventure to curl up with in a cozy chair. Mr. Haas is a skilled storyteller in the tradition of the immortal L. Frank Baum himself, & Ruth Plumly Thompson. His ability for capturing the style & pacing of a classic Oz story is uncanny--they just "feel" right. And the same holds true for all the characters, old and new. Magic, action, & adventure abound here--as well as villainy, true friendship, humor, heroism, & redemption. It is a joy to read. I give "The Medicine Man of Oz" my highest recommendation.

The Medicine Man of Oz
Thanks to Mark Haas for writing Medicine Man. It is the closest thing to a 'real'Baum Oz book that has come out in 50 years. He has absolutely captured the essence of Oz and Baum/Thompson with this. I also enjoyed Leprechans of Oz, Mr. Haas' sequel. They suffer, but only slightly, from the rather crude drawings. Now if he only had an illustrator equal to J. R. Neill. Reviving Herby, a Thompson character, with humor and care shows the author's devotion to the original Oz books. This is the best new Oz book I've found and should be considered a must for all Oz collectors. I can hardly wait for the next sequel.

MEDICINE MAN OF OZ a delight from Start to Finish
Along with its recently published companion book, LEPRECHAUNS IN OZ, the new full-length OZ book, THE MEDICINE MAN OF OZ is absolutely terrific. True in tone and style to the original OZ books, it is filled with humorous episodes, thrilling adventures and a dastardly villian (Ruggedo, the Gnome King) once again plotting the destruction of the Land of Oz. Magic and charm abound. The illustrations are a bit crude, but somehow I didn't mind, as they nevertheless enhanced the story. Like LEPRECHAUNS IN OZ, this new OZ story returns to the "good old days" of OZ, with no annoying attempts to update the characters and "make them relevant to today." OZ is timeless, and this book makes it clear why. I would like to nominate this author for appointment to the long-neglected post of "Royal Historian of Oz", and look forward eagerly to any additional OZ books he writes!! An A++ story; lots of fun. I hope it will renew an interest in the original OZ tales. This one certainly warrents inclusion with the famous original 40 books! Lots and lots of fun, and highly recommended!

Something special for the tropics
With more than 50 years working as specialist in tropical medicine, I can assure all of you -potential customers- that here is the real bible to help everybody in today's complicated world, mainly do to the hight volume of literature.

Dr. G. Martinez Salazar, Neurobiochemist

Nearly 200 medical experts have contributed their background
The original home edition of a medical classic reference has been completely revised and revamped - The Merck Manual Of Medical Information, Second Edition: The World's Most Widely Used Medical Reference - Now In Everyday Language holds all the information of the original manual, but in a form which makes it easy for everyday readers to understand. Nearly 200 medical experts have contributed their backgrounds to the contents of this fine guide, which includes new or revised chapters in alternative medicine, symptoms of gynecologic disorders, and healthcare communications.

Very Comprehensive Health Guide for Wide Audience
This is an excellent guide to health and wellness written for lay people and quite comprehensive in its coverage. This second edition (first comes from 1997) adds about adds 35 chapters and 400 pages to the first edition, with updates throughout the book (e.g., on various drug therapies). It is very well-organized, primarily as 300 plus chpaters written around body systems (e.g.. digestive disorders) or topical areas (children's health, preventative medicine). The book has many short sub-sections within chapters (typically 5 to 10 pages) that cover specific topics (skin cancer, glaucoma, family planning) that can readily be found in the table of contents. The book is extremely well written with a very detailed index that makes it easy to find information on specific topic. One nice feature of this book is that it is printed to be about the size of a college dictionary (though with larger print than most dictionaries). It also includes an excellent appendix listing other resources for information by topic, with organizations listed out with their mail addresses and web sites.

Microarray Biochip Technology

A snapshop of the quickly changing state of the art
_Microarray Biochip Technology_ provides a nice summary of microarray technologies at the time of publication (early 2000) from one of the persons (Mark Schena) who ought to know. To learn the latest and greatest, you'll still have to find the most recent review articles. However, this book is a useful handbook for getting started with the basics of microarray technologies.

The focus is on the hardware for spotting, not as much on scanning or data analysis. I like it somewhat better as a practical guide for the basics than Rampal's _DNA Arrays_, which covers a alternate uses of microarrays.

A good door to enter the microarray field
This book is quite basic and it does not have specific protocols however it does give you a general overview to methods of several players in the field. You just have to keep on reminding yourself that each company presents itself so everything is seen through the optimistic point of view.

Excellent book !
This is a book for the people interesting the microarray technology. Very helpful for the begineer , and also for the experts. A lot of resources for the applications, and details in the hardware, software ,and fabricating

Entertaining and Pure Minnesota
The combination of poetry and photography make this book appealing for a variety of readers. The photography is especially humorous, for ex., a piece called "Second Service" pictures a chapel half full of hay. The poetry is entertaining and classic Minnesotan, covering fishing, Norwegian humor, landscape, and of course, climate.

Wonderful poetry and marvelous photography
These poems and the accompanying photos bring back memories of summer vacations spent visiting relatives in northern Minnesota. Word scultures, along with visual portraits of life "up North" will make this an enjoyable read for you. If you liked the movie "Grouchy Old Men", you will love this book. Anyone with a small town experience will chuckle at the poignant humor and sigh at half forgotten memories remembered. I bought three more copies to share with friends and family.

Minnesota described as well as any array of literature can.
I lived in Minnesota for 11 years. While working on the Eastern Coast of the United States for a while I happened to find myself in a rather large bookstore in mid-town Manhattan on one of my weekends off. Upon browsing for nothing in particular, I happened upon the book Minnesota Gothic. I brought it home and read through it all in one evening (it's not big at all). Upon completion, I realized how much I missed Minnesota. The poems are simple yet heartwarming, and fun to read while the accompanying pictures add more clarity to the uniqueness of the authors' Minnesota. The authors caught the spirit of that state as well as anyone could, including the likes of the more well known Garrison Keilor. The book is Minnesota, and anyone "from here" or the upper mid-west will easily identify with it and simply enjoy it.

Miracle in the Mirrow
I have searched for this book for the last five years. I read it a number of years ago. I purchased at least a dozen books and have given them all away. I'm delighted to find this book again. You will not be able to put it down once you've started reading it. It truly shows that God still works miracles. This would be a wonderful gift for someone who is ill or just needs their faith renewed. I can't wait to read it again.

xxxxxxxxx
I'm a 16 year old girl from Finland and today I read the book" Miracle in the Mirror". I feel in love with the story emediately! I'm also an atletic so I really feelt for Nita, when I read the book. It's the best book I have ever read. I got an deeper belife in God by reading the book and I hope other feel the same way! Tank you Nita, for charing your experience with the rest of the world!

Excellent commentary on a creative miracle.
This is an incredible testimony of Nita Edwards who was totally healed by Jesus from an injury and a creeping paralytic disease. The book is written by Mark Buntain who was given a vision of 8 people who would reach Asia for the Lord, of which Nita was one of them. Reading the book will cause you to sit on the edge of your chair and suffer with Nita through this most painful and debilating condition to the fulfillment of the her total healing. This story of the most blessed Jesus coming to her room and touching her and causing the arms that were wirthered to raise in praise to Him and the legs that were like hockey sticks to bend and propel her from her bed to kneel in honor to her Lord. I have been very privileged to read this book. This is just the beginning of the miracles that Nita would see in her life and ministry.

A great second book for author Alexandria Altman
I really liked reading this book. I have read Alexandria Altman's first book "John Carpenter Speaks Out", also a very good book. Easy to read and to the point. I look forward to reading "Mission Possible" #2 and on. Also I look froward to any other of Ms. Altman's books. I feel we will be seeing her as a bestseller in the near future.

Amazing Book On Success
It is an amazing book. I really like the way that each of the 12 authors shared how they achieved success. It is easy to read and filled with lots of useful information. You can pick it up and read a chapter in 30 minutes and have practical ideas to apply now! It really motivated me to become more successful. Anyone wishing to be more successful should buy this book and apply the principles. I am and it is paying dividends!

Learning from the Masters.
... This is the book for you. Fast-paced interviews with successful individuals can be a great encouragement. Such is the information contained in Mission Possible! Barry Banther's inspirational chapter is worth the price of the book alone. You will have your favorite chapter I am sure. This is truly "on-the-job-training" for living.

Puts A Smile On Your Face!
For a lighthearted, entertaining, and fascinating trip into the inner workings of children's minds and souls, and how they perceive God and religion, read this book! You'll chuckle, you'll giggle, you'll laugh uproariously, you'll smile in tender recognition. An adorable, fun book!

Really fun reading with remarkable and humorous insight
This book, in some respects, is a Jewish version of Art Linkletter's "Kids Say the Darndest Things!" These kids are Jewish and commenting on Jewish subjects. Many of their remarks demonstrate a guiless intuition that is at once entertaining and enlightening. A joy to read, and a book which will endure.

colorful & humorous one liners on children's view of God
