Great if you are still an undergraduate!
This book is really insightful to those who are still earning their undergrad degrees. It offers many tips on resume writing, networking, and assessing ones own skills. If I were a junior in college this would have been a great source of information and inspiration. However, for someone who has been out of school for a short period of time, it doesn't offer much in the way of career guidance. It does offer good tips on graduate school and how to find the program that is right for you depending on what type of job you are interested in after. It also lists all the professional associations for a political scientist.

Half-Court Hero
This book was written by Kirk Marshall, and is 135 pages long. I liked this book because it had a lot of different settings and cool characters. It was also an intence story and was pretty much always exciting to read. Plus the author gave a good feel of the basketball games.

The Best part of this book was when Brain a sharp shooter for his basketball team went to the Mighty Mites basketball practice to see there dribbling skills. While he was there he learned some new tricks and got better at the game. It was also exciting because the Mighty Mites are 12 years old and are experts on dribbling. I thought that was the best part of the book because it was exciting to see what tricks the Mighty Mites did.

The most vivid story elements in this book were the theme, conflict, and the plot. The theme was very vivid because the whole story was about basketball and they were always playing it so it was evident. The author did a great job on the plot because every major part in the book would have something to do with the patriots winning the championship. He also did a good job on the conflict because at the very begining of the book it points out the conflict that they would have to get the two main players grades up before the championship games. Thatis why i liked this book, because of all the elements and action that Kirk Marshall put in his book.

Welcoming Greenhorns
this is a good book for small business startup. It goes from defining a server to managing the server and includes everythign between that period. From trends to comparisons of operating systems. It also talks about scalability and has 2 troubleshooting chapters which are pretty helpful. Again it is best for small start up business rather than an individual.

The Hard Hand of War : Union Military Policy toward Southern Civilians, 1861-1865

Hard Hand of War
The thesis of this study of Union military policy toward Southern civilians during the Civil War boils down to "it wasn't all that bad, and here's why." Grimsley sets out to study what the combination of severity (for example, destroying civilian property) and restraint (for example, not shooting civilians on sight) meant, and concludes that it reflected the continued working of political logic and a sense of moral justice. He chronicles an evolution in Union policy toward "hard war". It's an interesting study, apparently valid on a broad scale, though breaking down somewhat when applied to local area studies. Grimsley doesn't really deal well with border areas, and although he could have used parts of the mountain South to compare Confederate with Union policies toward dissenting civilians, he doesn't do so. Some of his arguments seem tendentious: is it necessary to construct an elaborate theory of class conflict to explain the fact that plantation houses were more often robbed than one-room cabins? Surely the fact that the plantation houses had more to steal played a part, as well as any ideology. It also seems to me that Grimsley minimizes the abuse of civilians which did in fact take place, and has little to say about the trauma even of relatively restrained foraging. A rather jingoistic bit of characterization--rampaging Continental soldiers were "brutes", whereas American volunteers were democrats--is used as one more reason for restraint. Use of sources is good, though enforcers of the policies are overrepresented compared to victims of them.

There is definitely useful information here, especially in the portrayal of international legal theory and the evolution of official policy, but I'm not sure how well some of it stands up upon close examination.

Note: this is volume 1 of a 3 volume set
This is volume 1 of a 3 volume set, covering Matthew, Mark, Luke, and apparently also James and Jude. It appears that amazon.com doesn't have the other two volumes, so unless you are interested only in the first part of the Gospels, you may find this volume a problem. Fortunately, amazon.co.uk carries all three volumes. Look for author first word = Calvin, title word = Harmony It won't be immediately obvious that the first volume is the same as this book, because the set is jointly published by Eerdmans and Paternoster. This is volume 1 from Eerdmans; amazon UK has all three volumes from Paternoster.

Minimal for the subject, and consequently incomplete.
The authors make too many leaps of faith that carburetors of a given family can all be covered by a single disassembly-assembly treatise. An excellent example is the 1945/1946/1949 series, which are stated to be similar to the 1940 - nothing could be farther from the truth.

A decent bio, despite discographical errors & omissions
OK, maybe I'm being a perfectionist nit-picker, not unlike Spector himself, but several glaring discographical references rankle me. In the edition I have, there is a photo reproduction of the 45rpm "HE'S A REBEL" on the dust jacket. The key to the images clearly states that it is "The ORIGINAL Philles issue of HE'S A REBEL". However, the Collectables catalog number of COL 3200-A identifies the record as an '80s reissue.
In the discography itself, key suffixes (such as the X on #119 for the Christmas release) are missing. This is an important fact, since the catalog number was used more than once. And, where is "DO THE SCREW", Spector's angry legal retort to a mandated Crystals release ?
Alternate B-sides (such as on WAIT TIL MY BOBBY COMES HOME) are not indicated, and the discography continues the ongoing falsehood that Philles 123,134,135, and 136 were not released. I have stock copies of all but 136.
In the text, the writer refers to Gene Pitney's EVERY BREATH I TAKE as a "flop". Sure, # 42 on Billboard isn't a HUGE hit, but it is FAR from a flop.

With all that said, the book is still fun to read, and there are genuine glints and gleans into Spector that add to the history of the legendary producer.

a bit disappointed
This book covers a lot of territory and hikes, and it gives good directions on how to get to the hikes and how to follow the trail, but I was disappointed. Although it's 258 pages long, it does not provide a whole lot of background information on what you are going to see on the hike--just where to turn left or right, etc. How about what I'm going to see other that just say "there is an overlook?" What kind of overlook? What am I going to see? There are quick mentions of a few plants and animals that may be seen, but certainly no background on them to help me identify them or know about their natural history. Very little, if any, mention of human history is provided.

The contents shows 70 hikes, but as you look through the book you find multiple hikes in several areas that could have been identified as just one longer hike. In all it identifies 46 sites to take hikes in.

It is a nice book to direct you to some good hikes in WV, but don't expect much more than that.

A History of St. Mark's Parish, Culpeper County, Virginia:
An interesting history snippet of the area and times. Often lists of names with small bits of information. Worth examining for its history.
