Fetus as Patient: Shedding a persona
This is the long-awaited third edition of the Unborn Patient, and a review of the contents holds promise for an ambitious and rather complete look at the field of fetal therapy. That the editors have amassed an international cast of contributing authors, each a recognized expert in his/her specialized area, is a tribute and testament to the respect and role the editors, especially Harrison, hold as pioneers and perhaps even mavericks in this fast and everchanging field. The book is well thought out and composed; chapters are well written and edited. Carry-over chapters from previous editions are substantially updated to include world experience-to-date as well as the present state of the art for treatment of particular anomalies. This is especially true of the chapter on CDH, whose history for treatment and evolution of techniques for intervention is beautifully and thoroughly documented, and makes for interesting and informative reading. In fact, this chronicle could serve as a template to describe so many other controversial medical therapies in their infancies and eventual acceptance into practice. In addition, the third edition ventures off into emerging therapies such as minimally invasive surgical techniques, surgical robotics, fetal cellular therapy, etc. Unborn Patient is replete with exquisite illustrations and lush black/white and color photos. (The clever cartoons are particularly revealing and ironic.) The far-reaching but detailed scope of this latest edition will make the book an excellent source of information and a useful reference guide for medical and lay communities alike. Given where the field of fetal therapy is today, it will be interesting to see how poised, equipped, and prepared medical professionals and indeed society as a whole are to handle the options, risks, and decision-making involved with the fetus emerging as a full-fledged patient.

My Wine Is Uncorked
Well. The above mentioned book is the perfect place for a neophyte to the world of wine to start. Written in an easy to read, question and answer format, almost every major query a person new to wine would ask is answered. Having met Doug and attended a small number of classes he was involved in, this book mirrors his approach to wine. Love it, live it, learn it and above all, there are no wrong answers when it comes to WHAT YOU LIKE. Have a hankering for Beaujolais Nouveaux? That's Cool. Into overly fruity wines with limited complexity? Hey man, whatever you're into, AS LONG AS YOU'RE INTO IT. A wonderfully irreverent author and speaker, Doug Frost treats you like an old friend and shows you how magical the world of wine can be. This is an excellent place to start your life as a wine lover.

Economic Growth and Development: Reveiw
This is an excellent economic development book for the undergraduate and masters level audience. The focus of this book as compared to other development books (i.e. Todaro) is that it emphasizes the importance of economic growth rather than equity issues. I find this approach refreshing. Van den Berg uses historical and current case studies to bring the theory out of the book and into the real world. Overall, Economic Growth and Development is an informative and stimulating read for professors, students, and anyone else who is interested in understanding why some countries are developed while others are still developing. Five stars!

A superb reference and resource
Understanding May Sarton is a comprehensive study of the poetry, fiction, and memoirs of May Sarton, a pioneering feminist whose literary works were underappreciated during her lifetime. Author Mark Fulk explores Sarton's writing as speaking to both genders and all sexual orientations, not just female or lesbian readers, and delves in a literary analysis of the true spirit of Sarton's intent. Covering all of Sarton's work, from her initial poetry celebrating women's sexuality to her coming-out novel and her final novel and volume of poetry about the advancing onset of age. Recommended for American literature, feminism, and women's studies reading lists, Understanding May Sarton is a superb reference and resource.

Understand Post-Traumatic Fibromyalgia A MUST HAVE
Mark Pellegrino certainly is writing from experience! As he also suffers from Fibromyalgia (FMS). Since FMS is so misunderstood by society and other Doctors, Dr. Pellegrino explains how one can develop FMS from a car accident or from a work injury. Also, Post-Traumatic FMS can occur in the prsence of an underlying disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, hypothyroidism or cancer.

As a survivor of FMS I found this book to be of great help to me and my family! It helped us to better understand the hows, the whys, and the therefores of FMS. This book also covers such topics as, diagnosing PTFMS, Mechanisms of PTFMS, treatment plans, tests, Medical Testimony in Post-Traumatic FMS. This is a must have for anyone who suffers from FMS whether they have Post-Traumatic FMS or Primary FMS.
