I bought this book several years ago & have enjoyed it many times since. Luxurious photos showing a wide range of styles of coastal houses from ultra modern to rustic to contemporary. The reader can get good interior design ideas no matter where their own home is located. Interesting descriptions of the owners of these homes as well and why they wanted to live where they live. I wrote this review as a compliment to the author and photographer...a job well done. My copy will be enjoyed for many more years.

This is a very well written book, with a survey of over 10,000 people that he has intereviewed snice 1998, so it is timely and appears very accurate.

He goes on to talk much about the changing landscape in CA in such areas as politics; how minorities are changing the face of CA and that in the future the Hispanic nationality will be the major group in CA.

He also talks specifically about the state as a whole and the various ways that people have tried to divide up CA. I have been born and raised in the Northern part of this state and agree 100% with what he states, that the state could be divided right around the San Luis Obisop/Fresno County line with a North California and a South California because the two areas are so different.

This thoroughly "user friendly" compendium features extensive cross-referencing and thorough descriptions, as well as classified lists of entries grouped under subject headings. Included are succinct, informative presentatons on the technologies of spacecraft, communicaitons, propulsions, launch vehicles; space shuttles, manned and unmanned spaceflights, materials, propellants, orbits, physics and astronomy, space centres and organizations. The Cambridge Dictionary Of Space Technology is a seminal, basic, exhaustive, very highly recommended reference.

Funny, funny, funny. What surprised me most was finding out it was based on actual events (meaning that they did go on a camping trip). I enjoy everytime I listen to it.

There is no greater study of the the Turing Test and the question "Can computers Think?" in existence. The bibilography that comes with it is amazing as well.

Orkin provides a hysterical twist and satirical work on Canadian English. It promotes the glory of Canada and the foolishness of the U.S. As an American, I found it hysterical to be referred to as the "Hugh Ess!" A must read for both Canadians and Americans.

I won't reproduce the summary of the book supplied by the various editorial reviews. I will tell you how much I enjoyed the writing. The sentences run smoothly together and before I knew it whole pages went by. Every once in awhile I would be stopped by a expertly crafted sentence. If it is possible to write a poetic sentence in a book of prose, Mark Lee has done it.
After finishing the book I was greatly disappointed to find that none of the libraries in my area carry his first book. I might even have to but it :)

A heartwarming story of a relentless optimist; a real resource for anyone with a sick child.

These literary, humorous sketches may be difficult to easily categorize but any with an appreciation for Mark Twain's wry sense of observation will find this an engrossing gathering of sardonic observations of everyday people. Cannibalism in the Cars focuses on Mark Twain's early sketches, many now available only here.

A great read, either at home or in the woods. Sparky describes many of the trees and plants you're likely to encounter in the Northwoods and adds historical uses, points of interest and random facts. Each entry is accompanied by a decent line drawing. The book is a bit awkward for a field guide (9x8) but it's such an enjoyable book to have along I always end up carrying it. Indespensible for Northwoods canoeing.
