Powerful read for any thinking Christian or pope worshiper
Numbing, head-shaking...these are the feelings I come away with after reading this book. The life of the fallen Swedish hero Swingli has so much depth that a simple review couldn't do it justice. What the reader might come away with is a new understanding that God is so just and so defensive of his church of believers that he wouldn't even let a great warrior for the Gospel like Swingli, go unpunished after he started down the a very wrong (but understandable) path. The incredible sorrow of the dark medieval times due to the plague, the oppression of anyone lower than the royal or bishop class, and especially the violence of their wars, when the evil Roman Catholic Papacy armies slaughter Biblical Protestants (God chooses to let this happen because they've gone too political) pitted friend vs friend, relative vs relative, countrymen vs countrymen...a must read for anyone that thirsts for more knowledge of what has become to be known as Christianity and how God can allow belief in the Bible as the authority on Salvation flicker down to just a couple of people throughout the world in post Apostle Paul days...very sobering. Hundreds's of thousands of modern day Biblical Christians have much more in common with Swingli than they do with Luther, but probably have never even heard of this guy, this book shows why he was so instrumental. God Bless.

Forging Peace: Intervention, Human Rights and the Management of Media Space

Precise, Analytical, and Thoughtful
Monroe Price and Mark Thompson have assembled a fantastic array of scholars, thinkers, and lawyers who each bring to bear a unique perspective on the intractable relationship between media and conflict. From Alison DesForges's discussion about the impact of hate speech in Rwanda to former U.S. State Department official Jamie Metzl's discussion about United States actions in Somalia, Kosovo, and Serbia the book answers many interesting questions but raises many more. Of particular interest were Eric Blinderman's chapter which discussed the legal rules surrounding, what he terms "information intervention," and Stephanie Farrior's discussion about the legal principles related to hate speech.

"Foundations" is a veritable "bible" of WWW app developemnt
"Foundations of the World Wide Web" is a must own resource for anyone interested in learning about, developing, or extending his or her skills in the development of effective WWW applications.
This book, written by contemporaries of Tim Berners-Lee, accurately covers the origin of the WWW from the perspective and motivations of those who were there, and develops into a full treatment of CGI programming and advanced multimedia applications in an online environment.
Simply put, it is the best $35 you're likely to spend on a WWW Developers resource.

Give people with mental illness a chance to live
The purpose of the club is that there is no purpose. What? Yes, there are places, 250 clubs throughout the world, where persons with a mental illness can go where "we" can change from professional patients to human beings. Thats a tall order. I want to go somewhere where I do not have to suffer someones good intentions for me. So caretakers should not have good intentions? God forbid. In the clubhouses the members (ex-mental patients) do not need to be tinkered with. We need to be given a chance to experience choice. I work in the club and when I feel ready to work for pay, the club offers the oppurtunity. I can work outside for the same wage as my normal co-workers. These jobs are four hours a day for six months. With several of these I will have a resume and now the chance to work on my own becomes real. I do not attend work readiness classes, nor budgeting classes but I am immersed right on the job. I learn from my experiences. These are different from being on the expensive back wards of a mental institution.

Excellent -- A Must Read.
The Scarlet Letter is super. It is well written and tells a touching tale of Puritan hypocrisy. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a masterpiece of American Literature. The Red Badge of Courage is Fine, and Billy Budd is the story of an innocent sailor prosecuted for a false charge of mutany.

What a book to get insight into a culture
This book while very much American in it's point of view is actually quite an informative background into the cultures of these SE Asian nations. The book takes you on a thinking tourists point of view while mixing interviews with personal points of view, you find yourself more informed as to what makes Americans different in their thinking to these other cultures as well as how we're very much driven by the same desires...though solving the quests for the objects of our desires quite differently. My wife and I visited these countries after reading this book and found the insights helpful in enjoying these cultures even more!

A compelling and comprehensive analysis.
Kuczewski brilliantly presents and analyzes these two competing views of bioethics--communitarianism and casuistry. With thoughtful historical and ethical arguments, he deftly demonstrates that the communitarian and casuist agree more than they disagree. His final chapter moves the reader beyond the ethics wars, providing a clear and elegant view of what might be called "casuarianism" (if that weren't such an awful word).

Franklin thinks up a creative resolution
In this story Franklin decides and tells his friends that he's going to have his birthday at an amusement park. When he tells his parents, he finds out that if he's going to have it at the amusement park they can only afford to let him take one friend. Faced with this option, Franklin comes up with a creative solution so he can celebrate his birthday with all his friends and have just as much fun as if they went to an amusement park.
